*****Ryder's POV*****
When I arrived at Xena's place, the rain had already begun to fall in torrents. I felt uneasiness in my chest that proved that Xena wasn't fine. I just hoped she wasn't in such bad shape. I packed my car in her driveway and realized that her car was nowhere in sight. It seemed like my thoughts were right about her car being faulty. I made a countdown before highlighting from the car. I ran off to her porch, shielding myself from the heavy downpour. I sighed as I thankfully stood before her front door. I turned to ring the doorbell, taking in deep breaths and waiting for her to come lash out at me as usual. But after several rings, there was still no sign of Xena opening the door. I tried to unlock the door, but it was locked from the inside. I frowned in confusion, was she not at home yet? "She might not be at home," Jeremy said, but I shook my head. "She has to be at home," I said to him, "Check her balcony," Jeremy said and I blinked. Why didn't I think of that? I walked to the side of the house where her balcony was located. I took in deep breaths before climbing up to the balcony and trying to force her windows open. I saw a silhouette, probably Xena's as she clumsily walked to the window with a vase. “Ahh, she is at home” Jeremy laughed, "And she is trying to attack you?" I rolled my eyes at that, but still proceeded to unlock the window. I knew she was standing by it, probably waiting to hit me with something, thinking it was an intruder. I breathed in and directly pushed the windows open. The moment I stepped in, I reached out a hand to snatch the vase from her, overpowering her in an instant, but she lost her balance, or so I thought before she stumbled forward and qlanded into my arms. Her gaze was unstable as she looked up at me, surprise evident on her delicate face. "Ry_Ryder?" She croaked out before she shut her eyes completely. I panicked immediately, thinking she was dead or something. "Don't worry, she is fine." I heard Jeremy reassure me and I took in deep breaths. "Now take her over to the bed and please shut the window." He instructed again and I did as I was told. I lifted Xena, bridal style and took her to her comfy looking bed. Then I went back to hurriedly shut the window and avoid the cold from sipping in. Xena was already so cold and I just couldn't risk her health anymore. I walked back to her bed, also taking In the sight and the warmth that enveloped the entire room. "She smells so nice!" Jeremy purred and I chuckled. "I told you so at first, didn't I?" I said and lifted the covers to cover Xena up. I checked her temperature and winced at the hotness of her skin. "Why is she so hot?" I asked and Jeremy sighed. "She has the normal wolf fever, so all you need to do is make her something warm and bitter to make her get better." He explained and I frowned. "Am I supposed to make that myself?" I asked confused and Jeremy snorted. "Did you come with any unseen forces like a maid or guard to do the job for you? You're the only one here so you're going to be making it." I gritted my teeth at his words and sighed. "But I never even stepped into the kitchen before." I tried to reason, but he chuckled and said, "I'll guide you." The surprise I felt was overwhelming. Jeremy knew cooking and knew how to go about illness. "Don't make it sound too embarrassing." He warned and I raised my white flag. I looked down at Xena who looked very peaceful in her unconscious state. Her hair was swept back away from her face and her T-shirt and sweatpants made her look even more alluring. I pulled the covers up sightly to tuck her in properly, and that was when I saw that her shirt was bunched up a bit, revealing her fair stomach. I watched her perfect body that even the casual home outfit could not conceal and felt a certain part of my body twitch. "Hey! Watch it, boy!" Jeremy warned again and I hurriedly covered her up again, I listened to Jeremy and turned around to walk out of the room. I pulled out my black jacket and threw it somewhere in the room. "Watch it! She seems to me like a neat freak!" Jeremy reminded me and I nodded. I walked out of her room, taking in the sight of everything. Her house was small and neat. Like Jeremy said, she was a neat freak. The entire house looked very cozy and homely, making me relax instantly. I wondered what it would feel like to start a family here with Xena. "You're just 18 and you're already thinking about starting a family? She hasn't even accepted you yet!" Jeremy laughed. I rolled my eyes and remarked, "It's not bad to dream." He said nothing more to me as I finally found her kitchen. Just like every other place, her kitchen looked spotless. "Now we're here, what next?" I asked, picking up the apron by the counter and putting it on. Jeremy then began instructing me on what to do and what not to do. The process seemed difficult at first but soon became easier and faster. In no time, I added everything that was needed into the pot. "This is so absurd!" Jeremy suddenly whined and I paused in my tracks. "What's absurd?" I asked with a smirk. "The fact that the Alpha of this pack is cooking!" He said and I scoffed, "You call this cooking?" I asked in surprise. "What do you think it is? Baking?" Jeremy asked sarcastically. He was clearly insulting me, but being my wolf, I couldn't do anything to him. Soon, I brought the pot down and poured the liquid which smelled disastrous into a cup. "Are you sure this is the recipe? This smells horrible." I asked as I scrunched my face. Jeremy chuckled and replied, "Yes, that's what she needs to get better, though it looks kind of different from what I envisioned." I paused, "You're not sure? You want me to poison my Xena?!" I shrieked, about to throw the liquid away, but Jeremy added immediately. "No! No!! You did great, that's the drink. I only said it doesn't actually look the same as the usual ones I know. But as long as it's bitter, Xena would be fine." I narrowed my gaze at his words, should I believe this conniving wolf? "You have no choice, now hurry up and go feed her." Reluctantly, I carried the cup back to Xena's bedroom and placed it aside to help her sit up first, then I grabbed the drink after I made her lie on me slightly. "Now feed her," Jeremy instructed and I hummed before proceeding with the feeding part. I managed to feed her a little of the drink and watched her scrunch her face in disgust. "Is she supposed to do that?" "Yes, it's bitter. You don't expect anyone to take such a horror with a straight face. Why don't you try it?" Jeremy said and laughed. I growled in anger and pushed the damn drink away from my nostrils. After I fed her the entire thing, I placed the cup aside and climbed into Xena's bed. "Now cuddle up and sleep." Jeremy finished and I did as instructed. I cuddled her immediately, feeling both warmth and joy spread across my chest. Maybe after this care, she would begin to see me in a new light. The rain falling endlessly outside stood as a testament to my undying love for this woman in my arms, and I would do absolutely everything to keep her safe and happy. Placing a soft kiss on her forehead, I shut my eyes and fell into a deep slumber just like her.*****Xena’s POV***** The school bell rang and the final lessons ended. I stepped out of class, feeling exhausted after the day's lesson. Just when I took a turn to the other hallway, the boy from earlier, the one who's brother was having a party, called out to me and I turned to look at him. “Hello, Miss Xena.” He smiled cheekily and I smiled back softly. “What's your name?” I asked, not knowing what to call him. “Oh, I'm Caiden, Miss.” He replied with a sheepish smile. The boy looked adorable and he looked the same age as Ryder. “I came to remind you of the birthday party tomorrow, ma'am. It's the weekend, and it's tomorrow, " he said, and I bit my lower lip. Would I be able to attend? I did promise him, though. Before I could give a response, someone spoke from behind. “Caiden, you couldn't even give your Alpha a special invite?” We both turned to the source of the voice and saw Ryder standing there with the girl from before. She had a lollipop in her mouth as she a
*****Xena's POV***** The cold from earlier disappeared without a trace and warmth enveloped the space. I felt much better, compared to the time I returned home. A sweet scent mixed with the pure warmth in the room made me frown and moan at the same time. I frowned because it never smelled like that in my room, then I moaned because the smell was intoxicating. My eyes fluttered and I opened them to the always bright light in my room, dimmed. I frowned at that. I was always very scared of the dark, that was why I always left my lights turned on. But seeing it dim now made me almost run out of my room. I tried to get off the bed to turn on the lights, and that was when I realized something. Someone was holding me and keeping me wrapped in their arms. I blinked as panic began to set in, who the hell had me in their arms? I slowly reached out a hand to turn on the bedside lamp, then turned around when I heard a growl from the figure that held me. My heart was banging as I turned

*****Ryder's POV***** After Renee and I left college in my car, I saw the clouds change, and I sighed, but I never even wanted to go back there. The only thing I would always get in return was hateful words and insults from Xena. I saw the look in her eyes when she saw how Renee held me. I couldn't even tell if it was a look of jealousy or disgust. Xena was really the hardest woman I had ever encountered. Renee in the driver's seat suddenly turned to me with a smile, "Baby, let's go to your house." I glanced at her, irritation flashing in my eyes as I heard those words from her. "Don't call me that," I warned and focused my gaze on the windy road. "I called you baby," she repeated and I scoffed, "Renee, we broke up," I remembered and she just rolled her eyes. "So what? I see you still have feelings for me." She said shamelessly and I almost hit the brakes in anger. "Such a bimbo." I heard Jeremy scoff in my head and I hummed in approval. "Renee, I have better thing
*****Xena's POV***** I called Valkyrie, but there wasn't a reply and when I tried again, my phone went dead. I cursed loudly for the first time, biting my lip in anger. "Just take a taxi." Layla advised and I scoffed, "You know I can't do that. Where am I supposed to find a taxi here? I can only trek to the junction." I breathed out and she shrugged. "Then do it." "What?" I asked in surprise, and she just chuckled. You don't expect Ryder to come back and pick you up again, right? The rain would drench you completely, " she said mockingly, and I gritted my teeth. Layla was the worst. Without a word, I grabbed my phone and bag before heading out of the school and onto the road. The walk from the college to the Junction would take roughly 40 minutes and I just hoped the rain wouldn't fall at that time. I walked silently across the street, the weather still darkening as time passed. I so wanted to curse the weather for changing this way, knowing it was the month of Christm
*****Xena's POV***** I was asked to stay at the hospital for a few more days for some checkups on my health and wait till I fully recover. Soon, I was discharged and I returned home. All through my stay at the hospital, Valkyrie never once visited me again. I guess she was mad at me for my words and my actions. I was also asked to stay home for a day to get myself together before I attended school again, but I didn't listen. I had stayed away from school for four days and I needed to catch up with the attendance for the days missed. I got ready the next morning and left for school in my car. Arriving at the college, I was met with a few students talking about a news I didn't quite get. They just kept whispering and giggling here and there, getting my curiosity piqued. I stepped into the classroom and as usual, the entire students offered their greetings. I looked around stylishly and saw that Ryder was in class this time. I was quite surprised that he was early today. Just b
*****Xena's POV*****My eyes fluttered before I opened them to the bright lights of what seemed to be the hospital room. The beeping sound of the monitors was enough to make me realize that I was currently in the hospital. I groaned at the blinding lights and shielded my eyes with my hand.Thankfully, I felt someone move to lower the lights of the room. Finally, I could see the room clearly without the pain caused by the lights."Thank Goodness you're awake." I heard a deep voice beside me, that was when I realized that the intoxicating scent that woke me up just now belonged to no other person than Ryder.I froze in my tracks, refusing to look at him. He sighed in what seemed to be exhaustion before he came forward to help me sit up.I reluctantly turned my head to look at him instantly. He looked a mess, his hair was disheveled, he had dark eye bags and his lips were dry.Wait, what?! Lips?"What are you doing here?" I subconsciously asked even before I could hold myself back. Ryder
*****Xena's POV*****Ryder smiled at me, then nodded. I felt my chest squeeze in pain at the sudden look in his eyes."I get it now," he said and moved away from me.My lips trembled as I watched him move away from me slowly. The rain hadn't subsided and it was still falling in torrents."Ryder_""Goodbye, Xena." He said, cutting me shut as he walked out through the door and under the rain.I felt my entire body tremble and the next second, I fell to the floor. I was shivering, also looking at my hands that had struck his face. The memories of how the past years had been ever since I became his teacher came flooding into my mind.He used to smile at me each time he saw me, he would also always shy away each time I patted his shoulder or touched his hand.Ryder was always doing everything to make me happy. That first day, he failed his math test and he felt so bad, I saw him leaving the school looking dejected.I reached out to him, asking him what was causing his off mood, he cried to
*****Xena's POV*****"You?" I voiced out and was immediately pushed into the house while Ryder stepped in and closed the door behind him.I staggered but stabilized myself when he wrapped his arms around me in support. I glared at him in anger as I pushed him away from me."What are you doing here?!" I asked as I took three steps back. How could he come here when I was very happy that he wouldn't show up at my doorstep because of his coronation? I was happy being alone and being able to think straight.Besides, it was raining! Who in their right mind would even think of coming to visit a person in the rain?Ryder just watched me with eyes filled with longing. I should be feeling disgusted or maybe feeling irked by that look in his eyes, but that wasn't what I felt right now.I suddenly felt the need to reach out to him and touch him, his perfectly sculptured face, sharp jaw, long hair, and every other perfection on him.The moon goddess definitely cheated in the aspect of creation.I
