(Tyler’s POV)

Celia cornered Kate and myself the moment we came in the door. She wanted to know everything the doctor said and she wasn’t going to the word ‘nothing’ for an answer.

I decided it was going to be easier to tell a couple of people, but not the whole pack, not yet. So Kate confirmed she was pregnant and Celia let out a squeal and hugged Kate. She wanted to know when we were going to announce it to the pack and I explained that I wanted to make sure Kate was safe before we told everyone.

Celia understood and promised to keep it quiet. But she did point out that Kate carries a werewolf pup and the gestation for a werewolf pregnancy is only three months. Since Kate is already one month along she is going to be showing soon and the secret will be out. I agreed and had to work fast.

I walked into Scott’s room with a sense of unease curling in my gut. The man was awake now, sitting upright with that pale, drawn look of someone who had spent too long unconscious.

131 (Tyler’s POV) I tore through the trees like fire was eating my heels. Every heartbeat pounded one name through my skull, Kate. Camerin and half the warriors broke off behind me, the rest holding Jaxson’s wolves back as best they could. I didn’t look back. I couldn’t. If Jaxson wanted me to chase him, fine. But if Kate fell because of this… I shoved the thought down and ran harder. (Kathryn’s POV) I heard the windows shatter before the alarms went off. Celia shoved me behind the heavy oak table as three wolves in Jaxson’s colors stormed through the door. Micah was already there, claws out, his roar shaking the walls as he met the first wolf head-on. Another wolf lunged straight for me. I rolled, came up with the silver dagger Tyler had made me wear ever since the last attack. My heart pounded, my hands shook but I slashed anyway, catching the wolf across the shoulder. It howled, but didn’t stop. Outside, more of our warriors collided with Jaxson’s wolves, the clash of teet

130 (Tyler’s POV) We moved out as the last of the light bled from the sky. Camerin led the hunters up front, his bow slung across his back, rifle in hand. Marcus’s men flanked our side, tense but steady they’d given me their word. For tonight, that would have to be enough. The air was thick with the scent of pine, cold earth, and something else. Something older. Even the wind carried it like a warning. We ran fast and silent through the forest, wolves shifting at intervals along the line, some padding ahead to scout, others staying in human form with weapons ready. I stayed near the center, eyes sharp on the ridgelines above us. This wasn’t just a hunt. It was an execution waiting to happen. As we crossed the border into what had been Jaxson’s territory, the trees grew denser, the trails narrower. His people had lived here for generations, but now? The place felt… wrong. Camerin raised a hand, signaling a halt. He crouched low, studying the dirt path ahead. “Tracks,” he murmured

129 (Kathryn’s POV) I found Tyler on the back porch after the council meeting, shoulders squared, the weight of leadership heavy across his frame. He didn’t turn right away when I stepped out, but I could feel the energy coming off him coiled, sharp, ready to snap into motion. “You’re going after him,” I said. It wasn’t a question. He finally looked at me, eyes dark with the kind of resolve I’d seen too many times already. “We can’t wait for him to come to us, Kate. Not again.” My arms crossed on instinct. “And what happens if you don’t come back? What happens to me, to this baby, if you go charging into whatever trap Jaxson has waiting?” Tyler stepped closer, his hands warm and solid as they landed on my shoulders. “I’m not giving him time to find another witch. Or another monster. I won’t risk our family like that.” I wanted to argue. I wanted to tell him we needed time, that maybe there was another way. But the memory of fire licking at the packhouse walls, of wolves bleedin

128 (Third Party POV) Camerin and his hunters scoured every inch of the clearing where the witch had fallen. They burned the last scraps of fabric, broke open the obsidian bowl, even dug through the blackened earth where the runes had once pulsed with power. But there was nothing. No flicker of magic. No lingering presence. No more threats hiding under the soil. The witch’s death had severed whatever dark tether had tied Jaxson’s wolves to something worse. Without her spells, they were just wolves again dangerous, feral maybe, but mortal. When Camerin returned to the pack lands, Tyler was waiting by the war table. “Tell me,” Tyler demanded. Camerin shook his head. “It’s gone. Whatever magic she used died with her. Jaxson’s wolves are on their own now.” Tyler leaned back, arms crossed, thinking it through. A threat, yes, his expression said, but not the same kind. “They’ll fight,” Tyler said slowly. “But without her… they bleed like the rest of us.” Tyler gave his orders: Stren

127 (Camerin’s POV) The pack was quiet behind us as we moved out, the kind of silence that comes after too many battles in too few nights. Tyler had given his orders, sharp and final. Find the witch. End her. We ran light six of the best hunters left in the Lunar Lake pack, warriors who didn’t need speeches or second chances. Each of us carried silver-edged weapons, charms from Lena’s sisters braided into our gear to keep whatever dark magic this witch used off our skin. The border to Jaxson’s land was marked by blackened trees from the last skirmish, the air still carrying the faint metallic tang of old blood. We didn’t stop. Marcus had told us wolves were returning here, broken and scattered now that the creature was gone. Some were already wandering back into town. Others… stayed here. Too scared or too loyal to leave. The witch wasn’t stupid. She’d know we were coming. Which meant the trap was already set. The deeper we pushed, the quieter it got. No birds. No wind. Just the

126 (Tyler’s POV) The war room was heavy with smoke and sweat. Maps covered the table, marked with circles and Xs where wards had fallen, where the creature had burned through our defenses before we ended it. Camerin stood on my right, Beta Marcus on my left, both waiting for orders. Kate leaned against the far wall, one hand unconsciously pressed low over her stomach where that hit from battle still had me grinding my teeth every time I thought about it. I slammed my hands down on the table. Hard. “Enough,” I growled, the word carrying through every corner of the room. “We are done waiting for Jaxson’s witch to summon another one of those things. We move first.” Camerin’s eyes narrowed. He already knew what was coming. “Special forces,” I snapped. “Every scout, every hunter, every damn warrior who can track a shadow in the dark. Find that witch. End her. No more creatures, no more surprises.” Camerin nodded once, sharp. He didn’t ask how far to go. He knew I meant for them to fi
