Chapter 5

            Alia POV

Seeing the doorknob twist I duck down behind the desk, silently cursing myself for taking so long to find those papers.

I slightly jump at The lights in the room being turned on.

"Come out from where ever you are Alia, you know we can smell you in here right?" I hear a male voice, knowing that voice belongs to my guard Max. I stay behind the desk hoping they would just leave, but I know they aren't.

When I thought things couldn't get any worst my phone started to ring. If they were bluffing about knowing that I'm in here, now they know for sure I'm in here. I look at the phone to see who's the idiot calling. I see BJ's name on the screen. He picked a fine time to return my call.

I stand up from behind the desk looking at Mac and Lester.

"Your father warned us about how you like to sneaking out through the window." I just stand there opening and closing my mouth not knowing what to say.

"From the looks of things you're doing something you don't suppose to be doing, and I'm sure your father safe doesn't suppose to be open. So how about you tell us what's going on here, or well need to go and tell your father that we caught you in his office inside of his safe." Lester folds his arms across his chest waiting for me to answer.

There is no way I can tell them what I'm up to. "Ummm" I stand here trying my best to think of a lie. I have never been good at lying on the spot.

"Well, I guess we'll just let your father deal with all of this himself." Lester turns to leave the office.

I let out a sigh. "Fine, I'll tell you just not here, we need to get out of here before someone else sees us." I have no other choice, either I tell them or they tell my father. I put the rest of the papers back into the folder and place it back into the safe the way I found it.

I walk into my room with them right behind me, closing the door behind us. I turn around to see them standing there waiting for me to explain.

"Umm.” I look at them, knowing there's a good chance that they are going to go to my father after hearing why I was in his office.

”I know I'm not in any position to be giving you guys orders, but can you please not tell anyone." I plead with them.

"It depends," Lester says.

I let out a small sigh, looking at them as they wait for me to start explaining.

"I snuck into my father's office to get the location of where the Lycan king is locked away." They both look at me for a moment, then Max starts to laugh a little.

"Really? That's the lie you decide to go with?" He continues to laugh, causing me to frown. His laughter slowly dies down seeing the frown on my face, realizing I'm serious.

He frowns over at me. "I know you don't expect us to believe something like that Alia. We all know the lycan king is only a story people made up." Max stands up straight looking at me like he's waiting for me to tell them why I was really in my father office.

"He's not fake, the stories about him are real." I guess I should have expected them to not believe me.

"She's right" I hear Lester say, causing me to frown with hearing him say I'm right.

"If you two are trying to play a joke on me, then you're doing a bad job at it." Max looks at Lester and me.

"It's not a joke, I've actually seen him once when I was a little pup," Lester says, looking over at max.

"Yeah right, even if he is real from what the stories say he has been dead for thousands of years now, so there is no way you could have seen him," Max says.

"Those are just exaggerated stories. He hasn't been dead that long. I seen him once when I was a young boy" Lester tells us. "But why would you be looking for the location of the lycan king when he's dead?" Lester frown over at me with a confused look on his face.

"That's what I'm trying to tell you guys, he's not dead and he's not fake. He's just locked away." I take my phone out to show them the pictures I took in the office. They both take turns looking through the pictures I took.

"How did you find out about this?" Lester looks at the pictures with a frown on his face.

"I overheard one of the dunk alphas son talking about it at a party to his friends, but no one took him seriously because he was drunk," I tell him the truth.

"What the fuck, this is crazy. So this guy has just been locked away all this time. I'm sure they had a good reason for locking him away. Maybe he's the savage monster that those stories say he is." Max glare down at my phone looking at the pictures.

I see Lester with a faraway look on his face like he is thinking about something.

"This has to be what my mother and father were arguing about that day." Lester says leaving me confused.

"Dude what are you talking about?" Max asks him with the same confused look on his face.

"My father was once the beta of the Blue Stone Pack. When I was seven I overheard one of my parent's conversations. My father told my mother that the firstborn alphas were planning something to do with the lycan king, but I'm not sure what he said they were planning. My mother kept telling my father it wasn't right. Whatever the alphas were planning she kept saying it wasn't right, and that the firstborn alphas were going to get innocent people killed. So the next day she cried and pleaded with my father not to go, but he said he had to be there seeing that he was the beta of the pack. My mother told him either he picks his family or the alpha. I'm guessing he picked his family because we packed up and left the pack moving into the city that day becoming rogues. A couple of days later people were saying that the lycan king was dead. I never forgot this because growing up my brothers and I hated being rogues and wanted to be apart of a pack. Every time I asked my parents why did we go, rogue, they would always tell me we don't need a pack. I was a rogue, living amongst the humans until I turned eighteen. I found my mate at the gathering for unmated wolves. She was apart of this pack, so your father let me join the pack." Lester explains to us.

"This is too much." Max walk over and take a seat on the chair in my room, rubbing the sides of his head. "Why do you need the location of the lycan king? I hope you're not planning on doing what I think you are." Max looks up at me with a frown on his face.

"I have to agree with him, that's a bad idea, Alia. Maybe he wasn't dangerous then, but I'm sure he's pissed now after being locked away for about seventy years. And from what I've heard about him, he is not someone you want to piss off. He will want revenge from whoever locked him away and one of them is your father Alia." I take a seat on my bed trying to digest this information. I knew my father knew about him being locked away, but I didn't think he played a part in helping lock him away. Lester is right maybe he is pissed for being locked away and will want revenge. I can't get my father killed, but I can't be selfish and only think about myself. I have to think about the pack, this can depend on the survival of the wolves. I sit here thinking while they stand there watching me.

"From what the stories say He's immortal right? He shouldn't be too pissed about seventy petty years." I say trying to convince them, but it's really myself who I'm trying to convince.

I watch as Lester shrug his shoulders "Maybe, I don't know."

"He's our only chance to win or stop this war and get the wolves under control. With the packs fighting amongst each other, we will not survive this war. This pack is my family and I'm going to protect my family at any cost." I will not just sit back and do nothing when I have a way to help the pack.

"Yeah the pack has been talking, but people are afraid to speak out and tell your father what they think. We have one of the largest and strongest packs, but if the vampire covens come together and fight the packs will not survive. I have a mate and two pups I have to think about, so if freeing the Lycan king will help us win or stop this war I'm willing to help you." Lester gives me a nod.

"What about the alpha king?" Max ask.

"What about him, he's a poor excuse for a king. He has let the werewolves fall apart. I'm sure he also played a part in locking the Lycan king away." Lester says.

The alpha king is just a cocky bastard with power. Every time he comes here to meet with my father, He shows my father little respect. But I know The Lycan king is the only person who has the power to stop him and fix all of this.

"If this is what's best for the pack you can count me in too, so how can we help?" Max asks.

"We have the location where he is locked away. I want you guy to go verify that it's truly the place where they are keeping him, then I will come and handle it from there." I tell them both.

"I have prison guard duty tomorrow but I'm free after 3:00," Max says.

"I don't have any pack duty's tomorrow, so we can leave when you're done with your pack duty's," Lester says to Max.

"I will send you guys the picture of the map, please be careful." They both give me a slight nod before leave out my room taking their position back at my door.

I hope I'm not making a mistake by trusting them.

*****

The next morning I was awoken by a loud knock on my room door. "Come in." My voice comes out raspy.

I look over watching as My brother Josh walks through the door.

"When did you start sleeping in so late?" He asks with a raised eyebrow seeing me still in bed.

"What time is it?" I raise up on my elbows to face him.

"It's 12:00." He says.

I let out a sigh. "I kinda had a long night and got to bed late." I think a long night is a bit of an understatement.

"Something you would like to talk about?" He asks taking a seat on my bed.

"No not really, where are you headed to?" I ask, wanting to change the subject, seeing him all dressed up.

"I'm headed to the gathering, I came to ask you if you would like to come since father has been keeping you in the house on a leash the last three days." A stupid grin appeared on his face, as he point towards the hallway where my guards should be.

The gathering happens once a year, it's for all the unmated wolves to help them find their mate. I forgot that the gathering for wolves was today. I guess since I found my mate.

My brother and I are really close. I wanted to tell him about our plan to free the Lycan king so he could help, but I don't think we can trust him. My brother looks up to my father and I don't think he will do anything that my father wouldn't agree with.

"Yeah, I would like to go." I throw the covers off me getting out of bed. I will go anywhere if it can get me out of this house, and free from my guard's following me around everywhere.

"We're leaving in an hour." He gets up off the bed and leaving the room.

I grab my phone off the nightstand, seeing that I have three missed calls from BJ. I walk into the bathroom closing the door behind me. I have to call BJ and tell him about last night. I dial BJ number nervously and put the phone to my ear.

"Hello" I hear the sound of his deep voice, causing my wolf to raise up inside of me at the sound of his voice.

"Um hey, what are you doing?" I ask trying to think of a way to tell him.

"Nothing, I was just about to call you again. I was starting to get worried you weren't answering your phone." He says,

"I'm okay just slept in kinda late," I tell him.

"BJ I need to tell you something." The words barely come out. I don't want him to be upset with me.

"What is it?" He asks.

"Well um, I found where he is locked away at, but I was caught by my guards." My voice gets low at the end.

Whatever it is that he's doing, he stops and things go silently on his end.

"What happened?" He asks.

I let out a sigh "I was being careful just like I told you I would be, but I guess my father warned them about how I like to sneak out through the window, so they were prepared for that. I had no other choice but to tell them why I was in there or they would have told my father. But after I explained everything to them, they both said they would like to help." I sit there waiting for him to reply.

"If yo-"

”I also told Donna about it," I say interrupting him. He goes silent again, causing my wolf to whimper from the loss of his voice.

"I'm sorry BJ, I had to tell her. My father has a vampire locked away here and he's her mate." Donna is my best friend, she needed to know. I needed to let her know that everything would be okay. I made sure not to tell them BJ was helping in case something goes wrong. That way my father wouldn't throw all the blame on him.

I hear him let out q sigh on the other end of the phone. "Can we trust them?" His voice comes out calmly, not seem upset about me messing up.

"Yes," I highly believe we can trust them.

"I trust you and since you trust them I will trust them too." He says.

"So you're not mad at me?" I ask, needing to know that he's not upset with me messing things up.

"Of course not, how can I ever be mad at someone as beautiful as you." He says causing me to smile.

"My guards wanted to help so later today they are going to go find the place and verify if that's where they are keeping him," I tell BJ.

"I'm sure once he's free he'll want to deal with the person that locked him away first, then he'll take care of everything else." After hearing BJ say that, I swallow down the lump that suddenly appeared in my throat.

"Yeah about that BJ, the alpha king, and every other firstborn alphas are responsible for locking him away." Every time I think about what could happen to my father it makes me not want to do this.

"I know how close you are to your father so I guess this kinda changes things." He says. It does change things, but this has to be done.

"I love my father but we have to stick to the plan." I had to force the words to come out of my mouth. I can feel my eyes starting to fill with tears. I can't just think about myself this is much bigger than me. I just hope he's not too pissed about being locked away.

"Are you sure about this?" He asks wanting to know if I'm fine with going through with this.

"Yeah I'm sure, I'm going to call you later. I'm going to the gathering with Josh so I have to get ready." I tell him before ending the call.

After ending the call, I sit here for a second wiping the tears from my eyes.

I take a quick shower and get dressed and put my hair in a messy bun. I leave out of my room making my way through the packhouse, stopping at Donna's room.

I open the door, walking into her room seeing her laying on the bed with her back facing me.

"You're not coming to the gathering?" I ask, closing the door behind me.

"There is no reason for me to go to the gathering. I have already found my mate." She turns around to face me. Her eyes are puffy and red telling me she has been crying.

"I know the gathering is the last place you would want to be right now, but if you don't go people will start to wonder why and if you have already found your mate." She doesn't need to give them any reason to think that she already found her mate.

"I guess you're right." She gets up off the bed walking over to me.

"Everything going to be okay Donna " I give her a hug before we leave out her room.

Riding in the back seat with Donna while listening to Josh and Nate go on talking about finding their mates today. Nate is Josh's best friend and Donna big brother. He will be Josh beta when he takes over the pack. I look over at Donna. She hasn't said anything since we got in the car, just been staring out the window the whole time.

"What's up with you girls today, usually we can't get you two to shut up." Nate turns around looking at us with a raised eyebrow.

"No point in getting your hopes up about finding a stupid mate only to have your hopes crushed," Donna mumbled the words lowly, as she continues to look out of the window, but I'm sure everyone heard her.

"What got her panties in a bunch today?" Nate asks looking at me. I just shrug my shoulders and take my phone out, pretending like I'm texting so he can drop the conversation.

We pull up into the parking lot in front of the large building. I see hundreds of wolves standing around talking. Wolves from all over, come to the gathering to find their mates.

We get out of the car and start to make our way towards the building.

"Do you smell that?" I look over at Nate to see him looking around sniffing the air.

"Congratulations," I tell him laughing. I watch him continue to sniff the air, trying to figure out who the scent belongs to.

"Congratulations bro, go find her We'll be inside." Josh gives Nate a pat on the back before he walks off. "Do you smell anything Donna," Josh asks her.

"No" Her words come out low as she puts her head down.

"Well, maybe we'll have better luck inside." We walk into the building. I hear music playing I see people dancing, having drinks and eating. Josh sniffs the air, then a look of disappointment crosses his face.

"Well, I guess my mate isn't here. I'm going to the bar to get drinks do you guys want anything?" He asks.

"Get me a strawberry milkshake," I tell him.

"I'll have the same," Donna says.

We find an empty Booth and take a seat waiting for Josh to get back with the drinks.

"Hey, hot stuff." This male smirks as he and his friend take a seat in our Booth.

"Sorry, but we have mates," I tell them.

"I don't see a mark on neither of you, so how about we get out of here and let me take you to heaven if you know what I mean." One of the males say. Donna and I looked at each other then bust you laughing.

"What's so funny?" He asks with a frown.

"You and your weak game. Why don't you guys just leave and save yourselves any further embarrassment." I tell them as Donna and I continue to laugh. I'm happy to see her laughing right now. I'm sure she could use a bit of laughter.

The male glare at us as we laugh. "If you don't like it how bout you leave." The male says, not liking our laughing.

Hearing a deep growl, I look over to see Josh standing there. His eyes are black letting me know that his wolf is ready to come out.

"You mutts better listen to her and get lost unless you want me to sink teeth into your throats." Josh sits the drinks down on the table flashing them sharp elongated teeth, letting his power pour from him. The two males quickly bare their necks submitting.

"Sorry, we were just joking around." The two males say to Donna and me before they get up leaving in a hurry.

We sit here enjoying our milkshake while listening to Josh tell us some stupid story. He stops talking in the middle of telling us. I look up at him to see a faraway look in his eyes letting me know he's mind linking with someone.

"Stay here" His tone comes out serious as he gets up leaving the Booth.

We don't listen and get up to follow him anyways. We walk outside following close behind him as he makes his way through the crowd of people, standing around outside. Once we get through the crowd of people, I see Nate standing face to face with the alpha son of our rival pack. The Shadow Moon Pack...

I can’t keep reading. The mistakes make me think whoever wrote this doesn’t speak English as a first language. It’s driving me nuts.
