Desmond's POV

(Next day)

I woke up the next day and got prepared to go over to the station and begin my work.

I took my bath and got dress, since I'm now an inspector I don't have to wear uniforms always, so i put on a shirt and trouser.

I don't like wearing the uniform, I prefer people not to know who I am, I pick up my pistol gun and placed it by my side.

 I grabbed my laptop and placed it into it's bag because I move along with it, then I went to the kitchen to fix something to eat.

After eating I grabbed my car key and went out, I entered my car, ignited the car and drove off to the station.

About 45 minutes later I got to the station with the help of G****e Map, I drove to the gate and horned.

An officer came out to see who it is and asked me who I am, I didn't answer him but I showed him my ID card and he saluted immediately then opened the gate.

I drove in and find a good spot to park my car, I got out and made my way into the station.

On my way in some officers saluted me and as I entered some of them are staring at me, I guess those are the ones that knows me.

" Good morning, who are you?" a lady asked.

" I'm Inspector Michael Adams" I s

replied, an officer came out from an office.

" I'm DSP Gbenga Adesola , you must me MIA" the officer said and I realised that he's the DPO.

" SIR" I saluted.

" please come to my office" he said and I followed him.

Now everyone is staring at me as I went to the DPO's office.

" I've heard alot about you, and I'm happy you are sent here" the DPO said.

" me too sir" I replied.

" Hope you don't find it difficult getting here?" He asked.

" Not at all sir" I said.

" Good, just one question, can you follow orders?" he asked.

" yes sir" I replied.

" Good, then we won't have any problem" he said.

" I also hope we won't" I replied and he turn to me immediately.

" Be careful MIA, this is not Clifton City, this place is crazy" he said and I smiled.

" I'm happy to be here sir, I can handle crazy, I love crazy things, crazy things can only be dealt with by crazy people, crazy people for crazy place" I said.

" welcome to Hanford City, MIA" he said.

" thank you sir " I replied.

" your desk is at the southwest corner of the station" he said.

" thank you sir" I saluted then left his office.

I went out of his office and introduce myself again to the police officers and went to my desk.

After sitting for some time working on my laptop since I don't have anything particular to do, I expect the DPO to give me a task but none.

Then I saw some police officer dragging a rugged guy to the cell.

Not long after the DPO came and told me to interrogate the guy they just brought in.

He told me he and his gang raped a young lady and he wants me to find out where the rest of his gang are.

I went to the interrogation room with two more officers and found him Handcuffed to the table and I sat before him.

" hi, what's your name?" I asked but he refused to answer me.

" okay, where are your gang?" I asked again and got the same response.

" don't you hear him....or you want me to......" the officer beside me was trying to hit him and I stopped him.

" No no.....no need for that" I said.

" but Sir, he won't answer you unless they are tortured" the officer said.

" I don't want to believe that it's only torture that can get people to talk" I said.

" he will talk.....maybe he hasn't eaten anything yet" I said.

" Sir?" the two officer asked in surprise then I faced the guy.

" what do you want?......food?.....cigarette

s?,..alcohol?......which one?" I asked and everyone was looking at me weirdly including the guy.

" c'mon don't be afraid, tell me" I said and the guy scoffed.

" I want rice and bean, with two fish" the guy said.

" Is that all, don't be afraid name it all........ I'm not like the other police officers, I just got transferred here.......and I like to help people.....so don't be afraid" i said to him.

" If that's the case, add four meat and two egg with one big stout" the guy said and I jot down all he said.

I brought out my wallet and gave one of the officers money to get him all that he listed and they all looking at me like a statue.

" sir? " the officer said in surprise.

" you should learn how to take care of your guest" I said.

" c'mon get him what he asked for" I said then the officer went out.

After a while he brought the food and I placed it on the table before the guy.

" uncuff him" I said.

" sir?......we should...."

" uncuff him......do you want to feed him with your hands?" I said then the officer uncuffed him.

The guy was looking at me strangely after he has been uncuffed, and he refuses to eat.

" c'mon eat up, so you can have the strength to answer my questions" I said.

" what if you poisoned it?" he asked and I turned to the officer that went to buy it.

" did you poison it?" I asked.

" no sir, I didn't" the officer replied.

" you see he didn't, but to assure you...... Officer take a bite" I said to the officer them he eat a spoon and one meat from the food.

" you see........poison free" I said then he pounce on the food, eating it with haste.

He ate all the food and drank the small stout along with it and after he finished eating I began to ask him my questions.

" Do you like it?" I asked.

" Aaahhhh....the food is delicious...I totally enjoyed it" he said and smiled.

" good, shall we start now?" I asked and he yawned.

" I want to sleep first" he said.

" don't worry, you will have plenty of that, just answer my questions" I said and the two officers are looking at me strangely.

" where are your gang?" i asked again and he started laughing.

" I swear you are the dumbest police officer I've ever seen" he said grinning.

" really, I only just show you our hospitality and you take it for dumbness, that's not cool" I said then move closer to him.

" I've never seen where a police officer is buying food for an inmate" he said laughing.

" Now listen to me, we are going to do this one way or another, it's either you answer me or face the consequences" I said.

" I've fed you.....it's only cool you return the favour with a very tangible information" I said sternly.

" so tell me, where are your gang?" I asked and he refuse to answer so I pull out my pistol and without wasting time I shoot him on his lap.

" aaaaahhhhhhhh" he screamed and the two officers were shocked.

" where are your gangs?" I asked again.

" Five-Star club, they will be at five_star club tonight....we have a spot under a coconut tree.....you will find them there" he answered groaning in pain holding his leg.

" Thank you.......you should have answered my question the first time I asked you and all this wouldn't have happened" I said then tucked my gun back.

The DPO and some other officers rushed into the room shocked.

" what the hell is going on here?" the DPO asked as he saw the guy groaning in pain.

" investigation sir,......he's not cooperating but thank God he finally did" I said.

" there are other ways to get them to talk without shooting them" the DPO shouted angrily.

" that will take a long time but this way is better and faster, cause he gave the location of the entire gang" I said.

" don't pass your boundary MIA, don't go against the protocol" he said.

" Yes sir" I said then he left and I notice that in his reaction since morning, he never like me at all.

Well he will have to get use to it and make sure he doesn't get in my way.

" call a doctor to check the wound" I said then went out.

The DPO restrained me from going with them to the club to arrest the gang, since I don't have anything much to do I went home.

I know sooner or later I will gain charge and make sure things change in this station.

I went home and fix something for myself to eat, then I called it a night.

The next day at the station the DPO sent me to the check point on the expressway.

But I think he's keeping me away from the station, I never heard about what happened to the people they went after yesterday.

If I didn't know better I'd say that the DPO is definitely hiding something and I promise to figure it out.

I went to the check point along with the rest of the police officers and as we got there we began work immediately.

We were checking vehicles as they pass and monitoring the environment as well.

We did that for about five hours without seeing anything strange, I went inside the car to rest and as well be on the lookout.

Then I saw a trailer carrying a container coming, which is the first we've ever seen since morning, it got to the checkpoint and I noticed the driver secretly giving something to one the inspector.

I got so angry that everything happens so fast that I'm unable to get him on camera cause I'm going to need proof before I can nail them.

I came out of the car and ran towards the Trailer then stopped it before it got away.

I saw the inspector and some of the officers running towards me as I stopped it.

" Hey MIA, Leave this one I've settled it" the inspector said.

" you mean after giving you a token for him to cross, without you checking it out" I said angrily.

" what kind of accusation is that?......i told you I've settled it" the inspector said angrily.

" you should be lucky I didn't get you..... If not...you will be off duty in no time" I said to him.

" heyyy.....don't you talk to me in that manner,......I'm also an inspector like you and not some fiddling officer" he said then I left him to the trailer.

" heyy, both of you get down here and open this container" I said.

" don't you get down from that vehicle " the inspector shouted back.

" on the count of three if you don't get down am gonna shoot you " I said bringing out my pistol gun.

" and if you don't let him go, I will shoot you in the head" the inspector said pointing a gun to my head.

By now some passersby were looking at us and the drama unfolding before their eyes.

" Go now" the inspector said and the trailer drove away.

" what do you think of yourself?.....huh.....that you can just come here and start making rules, this is not Clifton City, this is Hanford city.....the city of madness" he said.

I waited for a while then i skillfully turned around and took his gun from him which surprised him and the rest of the police, and I hit him on the face.

" this is your last warning, if you ever stop me from doing my job, you will regret it and if I catch you collecting bribe, I will make sure it will be the last one you ever collected" I said.

" I don't care if you are older than me or not, but if it happens again..... I will show you the reason people are afraid of me in Clifton City" I said to him and throw him his gun.

I continue doing my job not until an hour after we received a call that some students are being kidnapped from a school not far from us.

I told some of the officers there to check every car that passed and me and some other officers drove to the school to make more enquiry.

As we got to the school I saw the inspector from earlier jumping down from the vehicle and ran into the school.

I was surprised he's taking his job seriously for the first time, I and the other officers entered the school and saw everywhere in disorder.

I walked in and saw the inspector talking to one older person who must be one of the teachers.

" just tell me, is my daughter among those that are kidnapped" the inspector shouted in fright.

" his daughter?" I said to myself.

" what's happening here?" I asked.

" just answer me......is my daughter among them?" the inspector asked again.

" I'm sorry Sir..........she is among them" one of the teacher answered.

" No no no no no" the inspector fell down crying.

" excuse me ma'am, please explain to me exactly how it happened" I said.

" let her explain...." the woman said pointing to another lady who is crying already.

" please, calm down and explain everything" I said.

" Sir, I took the girls to a competition in another school and on our way back, a trailer parked right in front of us" she said then continue.

" some people came out of the trailer with heavy guns in their hands and came to us,

we tried to run but they got to us, they hit me on my head and they grabbed the girls and put them inside the container" the teacher said then continue.

" I shouted for help as they took the girls into the container and drove away" she concluded and I felt back.

" how many are the girls?" I asked.

" twelve girls but it seems there are more in the container because I saw them" the teacher said.

" they are abducting girls?........when did this happen?" I asked.

" about one and half hour ago" the teacher said.

" why didn't you informed the police earlier, and why now?" I asked.

" I called, I swear I called even before I got to school but they were not picking up" she said crying.

" whaaat?" I said in disbelief.

" we have to look for them now.......nothing must happen to my daughter.......let's find them now" the inspector said crying.

" wait........we need to get more information that could help us find them" I said to him.

" well we don't have time.......it's getting dark already" the inspector said.

" calm down" I said to him then turned to the teachers.

" what's the colour of the trailer?" I asked.

" Blue" she answered and I remember seeing a container of that colour today then decided to ask more.

" Did you happen to see their faces?" I asked.

" No, they are putting ON mask, but I did see the one driving the trailer.

" okay tell me what you saw?" I asked.

" I think he was putting on a Black round-neck shirt, and he definitely has dreadlocks on his head" she said.

I remembered the guy driving the trailer I tried to stop earlier but I decided not to jump into conclusion and make sure I'm correct.

" did the guy have a rough face with tribal mark?" I asked and she nodded immediately.

" yes yes, that's him sir, he's the one" the lady said eagerly which confirm my curiousity then I faced the inspector angrily.

I can see the realisation on his face as well because knew he just aided and abetted the criminals in abducting the schoolgirls which among them is his daughter.

I grew more angrier then pounce on him angrily and started punching him heavy, the people around were surprised by this and they tried to stop us.

I keep punching him until his his face start to bleed then the people and the other police pull me off him.

" c'mon let me just kill that bastard" I said as they pull me off him.

" please sir,....it's okay" the officers said.

" you see what you caused, just because of a petty change you put the life of the children in danger" I said angrily.

" what's wrong with you people?......why is your life like this?.....you can't do your job well....all you care about is money" I said.

" is that the reason you joined the police force?.......you don't know that Every single duty you refuse to do, you put the life of thousands of people in danger" I said angrily.

" What's your reason for joining?.....is it for you to extort money from people without caring who they are?" I said.

" but you don't care, as long as you have money in your pocket and your family is safe, you don't care about what happens to the others" I said.

" Arrest him officers" I said to the other police officers.

" SIR" they said in surprise.

" I SAID PUT THE F*****G CUFFS ON HIS HANDS AND PUT HIM IN JAIL" I shouted at them angrily.

" Yes Sir" they said then handcuffed him.

" Be praying that nothing happens to those kids, because if anything happens to any of them including your daughter.......I Promise You With My Life........I WILL KILL YOU" I said.
