Makaila got to school very late. Her face was swollen and red and she tried her best to cover all her scars by wearing a baggy hoodie. She rushed into class while they were almost ending third period. Immediately she entered the class, all eyes were on her.
"You are late." Miss Tamika stated eyeing her with distaste.
"I'm sorry, I really had a bad night." Makaila muttered.
"Just get to your seat." Miss Tamika dismissed her and continued to teach. She found an empty space at the back and went to sit down.
She saw Bethany and the other Cheerleader murmuring something and she was very sure it was about her. As soon as the bell went, signaling the end of the period, Makaila rushed out of the class to the rest room. Thankfully, no one was inside.
She stood in front of the mirror and saw how bloated she looked. She still had the scar on her lips from the slap and her face looked so bad. She put on the tap and splashed the cool water over her face a couple of times. She had no make up so she just dried her face with her cloths and went out. She went to her locker to drop her books but saw Bethany and the other cheerleaders standing by it.
Great! What now? She inwardly groaned
"Do you guys mind?" Makaila asked, her expression held utter boredom.
"Oh sorry, Makaila. Is this your locker?" Bethany made a pouty face.
"You very well know it's mine. Please excuse me." Makaila slightly pushed Bethany away, put her books into her locker and started walking away.
"How was last night, Makaila? With the way you were looking this morning it means that unfortunate guy drove you wild and hard in bed." Makaila stopped walking but didn't turn around. A Small crowd had began to gather and even the Jocks were watching.
Bethany continued. "Oh I'm sorry. You don't have any guy in your life. I mean which guy would want to be with a scum like you?" Bethany scoffed.
Okay, that's real mean.
"Same thing I keep asking myself about you, Bethany. If there is actually a scum between both of us, it's you." Makaila retorted.
"You have the guts to talk back at me?" Bethany snapped. Suddenly she snapped her fingers, James and Tyler along with other jocks apart from Christian were behind Makaila and pushed her down.
"Next time when Bethany is talking to you, never ever reply." Tyler growled.
"This is going to be a warning. You mess with her, you mess with all of us." James said and gave the first punch.
The impact his fist used to hit her face was a big one. Makaila groaned as the cut on her lips from the previous night reopened and started bleeding again. She spat out a mouth full of blood and looked as the rest of the jocks walked towards her.
I should have just kept my mouth shut.
She tried to crawl away but they met up to her. Tyler kicked her in the tummy and that simple action made blood spring out from Makaila's mouth. They picked her up and held her up, dragging her towards Bethany. Bethany gave her bag to Cassandra and then removed her heels. She used her heels to hit Makaila's fore head causing an ugly scar to appear, Makaila all this while crying out in pain.
Suddenly the Principal's voice was heard and everyone was pretending to mind their own business. Makaila was on the floor with blood all over her. She looked at Bethany who was now with Christian, both of them sucking on each others faces before they pulled back. Her eyes met with Christian's.
Christian looked at her and he felt real pity. But he cared more about what Bethany and his friends would say. Makaila looked away as darkness over came her but before she passed out, she heard someone say that they should get her to the nurse.

Makaila came around soon. It was already time for lunch so she limped her way cafeteria. She got her tray of little food and started to walk to the empty seat by the dumpster. Suddenly someone knocked the tray out of her hands. She looked up to see James and Tyler in front of her.
"Hey freak, we are not done with you yet." James smirked evilly.
"Look guys, I didn't cross your part. I didn't mess with you. I just want to have lunch in peace for once, Please." Makaila pleaded her eyes getting watery.
"Ohhh you will have your lunch. After you go over to our table and grind every single one of the guys there." Tyler told her. Her eyes widened.
"What?! No I can't do that." Makaila shook her head.
"It wasn't a question, it was an order!!! Now go!" Tyler snapped pushing her forward. She leaped forward almost falling because of her bad leg. She was tired of their bullying. She has had enough. She picked up her bottle of drink from the floor and poured it on Tyler's face.
"I won't do it! I have had enough of all of you. Leave me alone!" She screamed and started running as fast as she could out of the cafeteria. But they chased her to the empty hall way. Tyler was mad to say the least. He was really furious at what she did. James and Chase held her a locker so she wouldn't break free.
"I will teach you never to mess with me again, you bitch!" Tyler said before his knee hit her tummy hard. Makaila's pain filled scream echoed throughout the school as Tyler didn't stop hitting her in the stomach, either with a fist or a kick. She cried, pleading for him to stop but he didn't. He enjoyed all he was doing. It was for his own amusement.
"Tyler, stop! That's enough." Christian's voice came from behind.
"No it's not. She needs to be taught a lesson." Tyler growled.
"I am sure she has learnt it. Just let her go. That's enough. Get inside before the principal gets here." He told them. James and Tyler let Makaila go, causing her weak body to fall on the floor and they went in. Christian knelt down and came close to Makaila.
"Get away from me." Makaila's strained voice said.
"Hey, I'm just trying to help. Give me your hand and I will pull you up." Christian offered.
"No! Just stay away from me." Makaila picked herself up and started dragging it to walk.
"Come on you can't go in this state. You could get killed." Christian's voice showed pure concern.
"I rather die than to be here with people who are planning to kill me. Fück off asshole!" Makaila said gruffly, her voice hoarse with pain.
Christian cringed as he looked at her face that was contoured in so much pain and agony. They have caused this girl so much pain. He could have stopped them, he knew he could have. But he was more concerned about his image and reputation.
"I am nothing like them." Christian walked towards her.
"Yeah right." Makaila scoffed, pulling her tired body to stand straight. "Just stay the hell away from me. All of you!" She stated weekly, dragging her body away.
This time Christian didn't bother stopping her. He looked on as she dragged herself out of school. He didn't know why but he was feeling really bad. Even though he didn't beat her like the others did, he had equal fault like they all did because he didn't stop them but watched on as they always beat her to a pulp.
He felt a force push him. Like someone under a spell, he rushed to his locker to get his car keys.
Makaila couldn't skate with the sprain on her ankle. She started walking all the way home from school, though it was pretty far. Using skates, it was like thirty five minutes but on foot, It was an hour and some minutes. Her legs were killing her and there were visible bruises all over her body.No one made a move to give her a ride, all their thoughts pointing to one direction. What if she dies in the car on the way to a hospital and the police charges them for murder? No one was willing to take that risk. At every step she took, pain filled her body. It felt like any minute, she would slump and pass out. She reached a road where cars weren't moving any more. Her vision became blurry and she began to stagger. She shook her head, trying to stay awake but her body was giving in to the weakness. She felt darknes
Makaila's POVI woke up with a very bad headache, still oblivious about my surrounding. My body still hurt but not as bad as before. Trying to remember what happened, I looked around and widened my eyes when I noticed that I wasn't in my room. I knew that because my room wasn't this big. I was on a king sized bed and it was incredibly soft, unlike my small brick like bed at home. I noticed my sprained ankle was in a bandage and a plaster on my fore head. I got down from the bed and opened the door, looking around for someone who would explain where I was and what I was doing here exactly. The house was big, that's for sure and everything looked so luxurious and well furnished. Maybe I had finally died and gone to Heaven. I chuckled at the thought I saw a stair case and began to descend it, minding my step. When I got to the foot o
Makaila's POVI was running through a dark road . I had no idea where I was going but I just kept running. He was chasing me. He wanted to hurt me like always. I didn't see the tree stump on the ground and that made me trip. He was getting closer. I could see his shadow approaching and I could also hear his wicked laugh. He came into view. "I've got you now." He smirked. I tried to run but my leg wouldn't let me. I was trapped. I saw a figure close by. "Help! Please help me!" I called out. The figure came into view and I saw who it was."Mum?""You will never amount to anything. No one loves you. No one will ever love you. You are a curse! I hate you." She spat out. "Please mum, help me. Don't le
Makaila's POVI went back to staying at my house soon after. The last thing I wanted was for Bethany to meet me at her boyfriend's house. The ray of sun light entering the room made me wake up. I groaned as I tossed and turned on the bed. Mondays were my worse days, probably everyone's worse days. I finally turned to look at my alarm clock. My eyes nearly bulge out of their sockets. It was 8:30! Fuck! I slept past my alarm! I had less than an hour to get to school. I ran to the bathroom to take a quick shower. Then wore a casual white tee shirt, black Jeans pants and stuffed my black hoodie inside my bag. I took my sneakers in one hand and my rollers in another and started rushing down stairs. I didn't see my father in sight but I don't care. I rushed out and started to wear my rollers. I only had twenty minutes left.
Makaila's POVIt was lunch break and everyone was in the cafeteria. Nigel decided to sit with me today. It felt nice because I have never had anyone seat with me before. We were talking when the cafeteria door flew open and the clique of jocks came, Christian leading the way. All of them in their varsity jackets. I felt a tinge of familiarity. I couldn't help but feel they all wore it for a reason. They rarely wore their jackets except they were having a game that evening. I looked at Nigel with a raised eyebrow. "They are planning to do a welcome party for a new student." He clarified. That statement alone made my eyes widen in realization. "Seriously?! That awful. Christian won't let them do it, will he?" I asked. "Makaila, sometimes he doesn't have a say. I wonder if he is really a captain." Nigel sighed.
Makaila's POVFor a while, Tyler and the others stopped bullying me, mostly because Nigel was always with me. They tried to take delight in hurting Rita as well but Nigel still won't let them. If anything, they feared Nigel. He is a nice guy but whenever he means business, he means business. Christian and I didn't talk anymore. He acted like I don't exist and I did the same. Though I couldn't but feel somehow about it. Get a grip Makaila. He chose the enemy's side. Rita had no friends because people made fun of her curves, saying she was fat. Though she wasn't slim like me but I'd rather call her curvy. Nigel asked her to hang out with us and we became friends. Nigel had an unusual soft spot for Rita. I started noticing it early but I didn't give an open eye to it at first, well that was until Nigel started walking Rita to class, checking up on
Christians POVI sighed as the cold water from the shower hit my skin. I allowed it to run down my body as Itried to get the picture of what just happened out of my mind. Bethany and I just finished a second round of sex. I called her because I just couldn't get Makaila out of my mind and trust me I have tried. She just seemed to be stuck there. Calling Bethany was the only way I saw fit to get her out of my head. It didn't work. Lately, Bethany has become annoying to me in different ways. She started to seem too clingy but I didn't want to show her that her presence has begun to irritate me. I haven't stopped thinking about Makaila today or what she said to me after the cafeteria incident. What she had said that day hit a nerve and I desperately wanted to prove to her that I wasn't like the others. I wanted her to know that I was di
Christian's POVI stayed with Makaila all night, watching her. I decided I was going to skip school because I couldn't leave her all by herself. Bethany called to ask where I was. I couldn't tell her about Makaila, so I cooked up some excuse and being really dumb, she bought it. I heard a honk outside the house and got up to check who it was. I saw Nigel coming out of his car. I frowned. What the hell was he doing here? Though I told him earlier that Makaila was with me, I told him not to bother coming that I had everything under control. I opened the door and met him half way, preventing him from going in. "What are you doing here?" I asked him, my hands crossed. He looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "You know why I am here. I want to see Makaila." He made to move again but I stopped him. He looked surprised. "Do you mind?" He asked.
