Chapter 5: First Night 

“I am sorry ma'am, do you mean his girlfriend just on paper?” She inquired but the amount is still ringing in her head, the money will do her lots of favor to start a fresh life and also to care for her family.

“Yes, you should not fall for him either, once he starts acting the way every man should then the contract is over.”

She wondered what Mrs. Penelope meant by her son now acting like every other man, Mrs. Penelope could also tell from her look then she explained her son's trait to her in detail and Nora pitied him.

“I could double the money if you feel it's too small, I am asking as a mother, also the rumor spreading is just too much and can ruin his career about him being gay when he claims he is not.”

“Ma'am I understand but will you double the money for real?”

“Yes, that's a little thing for me to do.” Mrs. Penelope said with a brief smile.

“Ma'am, can you give me tonight to think about the whole contract?” She asked politely.

“Why not. Take the contract with you and read, this is my card, I will be expecting a call from you.” Mrs. Penelope said.

“Thank you very much, ma'am, I will give you a response by tomorrow.” She promised.

“I will keep to your word Nora and I hope by tomorrow, it's good news but if you turn it down, I would understand. All the same, I would like you to do the job.“ Mrs. Penelope concluded before leaving.

“I can breathe now,” Nora told herself and emptied the glass of lemonade before her.

“She is going to double the pay, there is no job on earth that can offer me such a huge amount of money.” She said,

“Does it mean my coming to New York for a better life is already happening?” She questioned herself before leaving the place and heading back to Cathy's apartment, she decided to take a walk to think about the offer.

“What if there is a reason her son is that way? What if that is the same reason he ran earlier?” She questioned her thoughts and when she saw a boy and a girl kissing, the kiss she had with him played in her head.

“Nora, you need to stop thinking about the kiss, it's acting." she hit her face over and over again but her cheek turned red. She returned home.

Opening the door, she saw Cathy having sex with a guy, “Oh my God, I am sorry.” She quickly locked the door behind her holding her heart firm, she can't remember the last time she had sex and kissed but then she recalled she kissed earlier in the day and she stamped her foot on the ground.

Cathy came out saying, “I am sorry about that Nora.”

“You don't have to be, it's your home and your man.”

“I am glad you understand, there is a cheap hotel nearby and I can give you money just to sleep for the night, I don't want to make you uncomfortable.”

Nora felt hurt a bit but acted strong, “You don't need to, by the way, I got favored at work today and I would like to appreciate you with this.” She gave her a hundred and fifty dollars.

“You don't need to.”

“Please accept, I have more than enough to get my place and also pay for a night at the hotel, I would always come to visit.”

“I am not asking you to leave.”

“I know but you have just a room, what if your man wishes to spend another night, I can't be going to the hotel all the time right? I am not mad at you okay.” She hugged her and Cathy felt relieved.

“Send a text when you get lodged at any hotel.”

“Sure and I might not get to look for a job anymore, a job found me.”

“Babe.” Cathy's boyfriend called and she apologized to Nora that they will talk on the phone.

“Have fun,” Nora said and took a taxi telling the taxi driver to take her to an affordable hotel.

She was taken to Vers Hotel which is very cheap and she paid twenty bucks to spend a night.

Her phone rang immediately and it was her mother calling, after asking about her stay in New York, complaints followed, she realized she needed to send money home.

Having a cool bath she thought about the offer and started talking to herself, “Making him fall for me should be easy, besides he is cute.”

She read the contract and felt so bad about Kieran then made up her mind fully to accept the offer.

The next day, she sent money to her mother through the bank after which she placed a call to Mrs. Penelope who was happy about her acceptance.

Mrs. Penelope sent her driver to pick up Nora, this was the first time Nora stepped foot in an expensive car which brought her to a top boutique where only the Billionaire can shop.

Nora always thought the rich are not nice but Mrs. Penelope was different, she did lots of shopping for her, and got the other important things she needs to look good.

“Thank you, New York,” Nora said silently.

Mrs. Penelope knew her son will be coming home late so she brought Nora in to live in the same mansion with her son and also share his bed.

She signed the papers and Mrs. Penelope showed her around and told her the urgent things. She wired money to Nora's bank account and gave her a new iPhone 14 Pro max to use.

Nora felt like she was still dreaming, if she was told her life could change in a second after the suffering and humiliation she went through in Fresno, she wouldn't believe it.

Kieran came home after a long day unaware a lady was in his room, opening the door he saw Nora with a towel and he started sweating as he stuttered.

“W....ho ar...are..you?”

“Welcome home Kieran.” She walked to hug him when he stopped her then her towel dropped showing her innerwear, which can turn a man on easily but in the case of Kieran, he ran away.

“Kieran, wait, stop running.” She said, picking up her towel.
