Killian's POV

"Does that young she-wolf have a mate?" Alpha Dominic questioned, his voice a bit distant as my eyes remained on the silhouette of my stubborn mate, who had taken advantage of my distraction to run away.

Obviously, she feared me, which was very satisfying. It was exactly what I wanted.

I was surprised when I saw her walk into the court with two other maids. Then the idea to taunt her popped up in my head.

The stew was too good to have been prepared by a rogue, who knew nothing about our recipe, but Alpha Dominic's compliments had made me keep my nasty compliments to myself.

Surprisingly, his questions had been directed to her in one way or the other after she'd left. I felt a burning sense of jealousy in my heart and at a point, I couldn't take it in.

"Does that young she-wolf have a mate?"

That question replayed in my head, snapping me out of my thoughts.
