Chapter One

Astria's POV

Being born an omega is one thing. But being the only omega in over a thousand years? That’s a whole different pain.

My parents were disappointed the moment they found out what I was. I still remember the look on my mother’s face, shocked and heartbroken. And my father? He sneered at me like I was filth.

He’s the Gamma of the pack. Having an omega as a daughter embarrassed him. He always believed I’d be a beta or at least a regular pack member. But no, I turned out the complete opposite of his precious daughter, Gina.

Gina has everything. Beauty, brains, strength. And to crown it all, she’s an Alpha. Every male in the pack wants her. Even the Alpha’s son, Jason, wants her as his mate. But they’re not mates, at least not yet. She had her eighteenth birthday last year and was mad when she didn’t get him. She’s always wanted to be Luna.

Even the current Luna, Jason’s mother, was disappointed. She wanted Gina as her son’s mate too. But I guess the Moon Goddess has other plans.

I’ve lived in the pack house for twelve years now but not with my family. I stay in the servants' quarters. My father didn’t want a "weak disgrace" in his house, so he threw me out when I was just five.

Since then, I’ve lived with being unwanted. I get the insults, the sneers, the pity stares but I still smile. Even though I’m hurting, I don’t let them see me break.

“Astria, hurry with the cooking. The Alpha and his family will be down soon!”

That’s Jane, the head cook. She’s like a sister and a guide to me. She can’t do much. It's the rule when it comes to omegas but she’s always been there for me. She was the one who taught me how to survive after my parents threw me away.

I quickly finish up the vanilla cookies and slide them into the oven. Cooking makes me feel at peace. It’s my escape the one place where no one watches me like I don’t belong.

Once breakfast is ready, I set the table before any of the Alpha’s family comes down. That’s one of their rules for me. I’m not allowed to be seen around them.

Honestly? That’s the only rule I actually like. Being near them makes everything harder. The last time I accidentally looked the Alpha in the eyes, I was thrown into the dungeon for two days. No food. No shower. Just darkness. I still have nightmares.

Now that I’m done with everything, I quietly slip away to the servants' quarters.

“I have something for you, it's in your room,” Jane says with a soft smile.

I gasp and run off excitedly.

There’s a box on my little table. I open it and nearly burst into tears.

Inside is a beautiful white-and-pink sundress and a pair of black sandals. Underneath is a note:

Wear this for your birthday, dear. You deserve it.

My heart feels full. No one has ever given me something like this. I’ve always worn hand-me-downs from the pack.

I slip into the dress and stare at myself in the broken mirror. It fits perfectly. The pink matches my eyes, and the white brings out my long snow-white hair. I’ve always hated how different I look but today… Maybe being different isn’t so bad.

I smile through my tears.

And that night, I slept with the biggest smile I’ve ever had on my face.

Zeyric’s POVI sat at the edge of the bed, watching her sleep. My little mate. So small. So soft. So utterly beautiful that my chest ached just looking at her. The moonlight slipped through the window, painting her pale skin and silver hair in a glow that made her seem unearthly.“She’s so little… like she could break just by breathing wrong,” Maelen’s voice rumbled inside me, heavy with concern.“No,” Lokar growled. “Mate is strong. I can feel it burning in her blood. She won’t break.”I clenched my jaw. “I know she’s strong. But why? why did she shift for the first time only yesterday? She looked so terrified.”The beasts quieted for a moment, shadows prowling in the corners of my mind.“Enough questions,” Lokar hissed. “We’ll get answers later. She’s waking up.”Her eyelashes fluttered, soft pink eyes blinking open as though the light was too much. She frowned, confusion clouding her features. For a heartbeat, she looked lost and fragile, like she had no idea where she was or how s

Chapter FiveAstria’s POVWe arrived later than expected, so there was no time to catch our breath. All pack members, including the invited guests, were already moving toward the forest’s edge, the sacred entrance for the Blood Moon Run. The tension in the air was thick with anticipation and instinct. I could feel it vibrating beneath my skin.Everyone was shifting, some into their wolf forms, others remaining human. The red moon hadn’t fully risen yet, but its light was already creeping into the sky, casting a crimson glow over the trees like a warning or a promise.“You don’t have to worry about shifting,” Mariah said, nudging me gently as she handed me a silver loose slip dress. “Some of us choose not to. The blood moon heightens our senses, smell, and instinct. It’s easy to lose control in wolf form.”I nodded, fingers brushing the smooth fabric. Apparently, it was tradition for females to wear slip dresses during the run, while the males wore only shorts. Something about being co

Chapter Four Zeyric’s POVThe council chamber was heavy with tension and the scent of dominance.Thirty-three Alphas sat in a wide circle around the obsidian fire pit, their pack symbols stitched boldly into the sashes they wore. Flames flickered in the center, fed by enchanted wood that hissed and glowed blue. The heat didn’t bother me. I had far more pressing things to deal with than fire.“My King,” Alpha Joran of the Timber Fang pack began, leaning forward, voice gruff, “raids along the southern border have increased. Rogues no longer run alone. They’re organized, using tactics we’ve never seen.”Several heads nodded in agreement, murmurs rumbling like distant thunder.“They’ve begun targeting healer caravans,” another Alpha said. “We lost two last moon. My people are frightened. They want to know what the Crown intends to do.”I clasped my hands behind my back, stepping forward to address them all. My voice was calm, controlled.“We’ve confirmed the rise in rogue activity. I’ve

Chapter Three Astria’s POVIt’s been a month since I left my old pack. I now live on the outskirts of the Alpha King’s territory, the Blood Moon Pack.I stay with an older couple who found me wandering near the borders. They took me in, no questions asked. I had nowhere else to go, and they offered me a home. They have a daughter around my age, Mariah. She’s bubbly, daring, and so outspoken, a complete opposite of me. Somehow, we clicked right away. Even though I was reluctant at first, she became my first real friend.“My mum says the moon goddess always gives second chances,” Mariah grinned, tossing a potato into the basket as we picked vegetables for dinner. “Who knows? You might find your second-chance mate here.”Her father’s farm is one of the most important in the territory. We help out with the harvest and ensure the Blood Pack never goes hungry. Mariah hummed softly beside me, swinging her legs as we took a break under the shade of a tree near the edge of the farm. The win

Astria's POVToday is my birthday.I should be excited and I am but I’m also scared. Something in my gut tells me today won’t be normal.“Did you hear?” Maria, one of the pack gossip girls, whispered to her friend.“Hear what?” Anne asked, eyes wide with curiosity.Maria looked around, making sure no one was listening.“The Alpha King killed twenty guards yesterday.” She whispered like it was a prayer.I froze where I stood. Everyone knows better than to talk about the Alpha King.“Oh my goddess! What made him that angry?” Anne gasped. The Alpha King. The most feared wolf in all the lands. Even other alphas tremble at his name. They say he has demon blood. Some believe he killed his own parents at sixteen and took the throne. Others say he’s immortal. But whatever the truth is he rules over all the packs, including ours. And no one dares to cross him.“Astria! Stop wasting time! Go serve breakfast!” Jane snapped at me.I sighed. All I wanted was to quietly go to the daycare and enjo
