CHAPTER 37: RE-LIVING THE PAST

I quickly relieved myself of the things I had carried, rushing towards my dumbstruck kid.

He asked again, as if to be sure of what he heard. “Mr Alexander Pierce is our daddy?”

“Honey, it's not what you think. It's uh, it's complicated,” I started doing damage control.

“Just answer the question mom, is he our daddy?”

I feared this day might come, I didn't want to answer yet I couldn't leave the poor child hanging.

“He is,” Albert answered, walking into the room with Aurora. “Mr Alexander Pierce is our real daddy.”

Oh bless heavens, I rolled my eyes inwardly. Just that one child who would see every tense situation as normal.

Aiden diverted his attention away from me, to his brother. “Albert, you knew all this while?”

“Sorry,” he said casually. “I promised not to tell you guys.”

I could see my baby start breaking into two. “Really? Why? Because we weren't as smart as you or because we aren't so good at hiding our emotions like you?”

“Can you listen to yourself, Albert?
