"What will you have?" I turn to see Garden standing behind me. "Don't tell me you're also a bartender?" I ask. "It's a small town and someone has to do it," he looks different when he's not covered with layers of jackets and scarves. "I'll have a whiskey," he nods and walks away.

I am watching a drunk couple dance. They look so happy, but maybe it is just the alcohol. The bar is not that big and it is full.

"Here you go, I made it neat. Hope that's okay," I take a sip and feel the burn go thro

CONSPIRANCY REGARDING THE RAY FOUNDATION; IS THE BILLIONAIRE HEIR RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DISAPPERANCE OF THE PROJECT MANAGER?The headlines are huge, and they are on every newspaper stand. I slow down and get one for myself. When I get to work, there are journalists waiting outside my office. “Do you know Mr. Avan Ray?” The first one to notice me, asks making everyone turn to face me.I have never been a fun of attention. I look around until I see a familiar face at the back of the crowd. Christine looks as confused as me.She points to my office. “I have no idea what this is about,” I start making my way to my office. They don’t make it easy.“Do you know where he is?” Another journalist shouts. I assume him. “Is he your patient? Is he a danger to others?” Another one asks.I am still making my way through the crowd of information hungry journalists. “Is he crazy and did he kill his project manager?” Before this morning I did not know about the existence of this project manager or of he

  • MATCH MADE IN HELL.   CHAPTER SIXTY EIGHT; A BET FOR LOVE, FOR SURVIVAL.

"What is the meaning of this?" She has a sadistic smile on that I have never seen before. I try unlinking my arm from Kerrick, but he won't let me. "What is it to you?" He spats at her, and I cringe. "I was not asking you," her eyes are fixed on me. I open my mouth and close it without saying anything. What am I supposed to say that is not a lie, and that won't make her feel betrayed. They are both staring at me. Jade is waiting for an explanation, an acceptable excuse. At this point I feel like even a well crafted lie would do. Kerrick is looking at me confused, unaware of the promise I made to Jade. "It is exactly what it looks like, we are out on a date," he says, still wondering why I am finding it hard to find my words. "Oh, and how was it?" Her face is still curved into that sadistic smile. "She is a delight," Kerrick gives me a smile. I have given up trying to wiggle out of his hold. "What about you?" She is staring daggers at me. Maybe if I tell her the date was bad

  • MATCH MADE IN HELL.   CHAPTER SIXTY SEVEN; UNINVITED DINNER GUESTS.

I am trying to talk myself into going through with it. It is just a meal. I can feel his eyes on me, but I don’t have the courage to look at him. I am afraid he will see my hesitation.“Are you cold?” I shake my head no. We are at the hotel entrance. I take a deep breath as he opens the door.I walk in, and he walks slightly behind me. It is a nice hotel, charming and romantic. He pulls my seat for me.After settling, a waitress brings us our menus. I hide behind mine, trying to compose myself. “Have you decided?” The waitress is flicking her pen impatiently on her note pad.“I’ll have spaghetti and meatballs,” Kerrick answers, giving her his menu back. I have not had enough time to decide.“I’ll have the same,” I give her my menu too. “How about drinks?” she asks holding both menus in one hand and her writing pad in the other.“A glass of white wine,” she nods, before looking at Kerrick. “Scotch,” he answers.“How is work?” I ask him. He thinks for a minute, as if measuring his answe

  • MATCH MADE IN HELL.   CHAPTER SIXTY SIX; A DATE REQUEST.

I close my eyes and dive into te pool. It is almost dark and I am the only one in the pool. I enjoy the coolness of the water. Focusing on the feel of the water, is relaxing. I swim to the edge before coming up for air. I find Kerrick waiting for me. "You scared me," I get out of the pool."Sorry," he says sincerely. I walk ahead of him. I get a towel and start drying myself, before turning back to him. "So why are you here?" I still haven't had a chance to bring up what I found in his office and I am not sure if I should. "Go out with me," he blurts. I stop drying my hair. I am not sure if I heard him correctly. "What? Like a date?" His eyes dart to the side before finding their way back to mine. "Yes a date." I can't help the smile that creeps on my face. But the happiness is short lived. I remember my talk with Jade. "I am sorry, but I can't," I start to walk away. "Why not?" He asks following closely behind me. "I have my reasons," if they are to reconcile he should never k

  • MATCH MADE IN HELL.   CHAPTER SIXTY FIVE; THE REASON WHY.

It smells just like I remember it. There are people everywhere.I walk directly to his office. "What were you thinking?" I hear someone shouting from the other side of the door."He is guilty, I know it," Kerrick's voice comes across clearly."That doesn't matter," the other person says. "What does?" "The fact that you arrested Avan Ray based on your gut," the other person argues. "Well, I am never wrong and you know it," Kerrick is being his usual hot headed self."Well, make something stick or it is your neck on the line," the door swings open before he can defend himself. The captain storms out, his face red in anger. I remain standing at the door way and watch as Kerrick runs his fingers through his hair in frustration. "You arrested Avan without any evidence?" I am not sure why I am shocked.I have always known that Kerrick is not a huge fan of Avan. I should have known that he would have found a way to arrest him.He turns around to face me. "Not you too," I walk into his di

  • MATCH MADE IN HELL.   CHAPTER SIXTY FOUR; WATCHING HER FROM AFAR.

Kerrick's P.O.VI had a lot of reasons for moving to Greencity, despite not liking small towns. I had elaborate plans, and all I had to do was follow through. But I did not plan for her.She was a surprise, a good one but still a surprise. She is straightforward, brave and even a little crazy. Watching her is exhilarating. But the one time I take my eye off her, she ends up discovering my dirty little secret. Good thing I have the cameras connected to my phone. I rush back to Laura’s place. “He likes watching you,” I hear Rackel tell her. I walk in just as she is about to run out. I have thought of what I would do when this day comes. Now that it is here, I am not sure what I should do. Maybe I should tell her my story. She might understand, furthermore she is trained to understand crazy people. When I tell her why I am doing this, she will understand. I try to convince myself, but the way she is looking at me is making me less confident. It is pure disgust. I cannot risk her
