It's raining when I get up and continues to do so until i'm in my office building. I find Christine peeping into my office holding two cups of coffee. "What are we looking at?" she jumps obviously startled. "Oh, you're here," she says giving me a quick glance and goes back to looking into my office. "There's this hot guy in your office,"  I move to her side so I can take a look. It's not Avan. I feel a bit dissapointed. "I told you to let my patients wait for me outside until I get here," I try to dry myself before going in. "But he's not a patient, he said he's a detective and has some questions regarding a case he's working on." I help the detectives sometimes when they are trying to arrest an offender especially serial ones. Christine gives me one of the coffees and heads back to her desk as I go in.

The first thing I notice is, he is crude and lacks any sense of sophistication or class. However he is a handsome man with very manly features. "Good morning i'm Detective Kerrick Swindle," I offer my hand and he takes it promptly, "I'm Dr. Vienna Starr." He releases my hand immediately I say my name and does not linger like some men do. "I have not seen you around before," he nods and takes a seat. "I have just been transfered to Greencity recently and I was wondering if I could ask you some questions about the case i'm working on." I lean on my desk as he shuffles the files I hadn't notice before.

"So do you know Carrey Mark and  Nate harris," I immediately tense up. This is not him asking for my input on a case, this is him questioning me like a person of interest. "Um, yes I went out with Nate once and Mark around three or four times," he looks at me intensely before nodding his head. "Why once? he wasn't good enough to score a second date?" he smiles but the tone of his voice suggests he's not joking. "No, he never got in touch with me after that date," he looks at his files. "When was this?" panic starts to rise inside me and I try not to let it on. "It was the night before last night," he looks at me intensely before closing his file."He never called because he never even got home. There's nothing similar between the murder of these two men, not the cause of death, not the time of death, not the location they are disposed off,not the..." Wait are you saying mark is dead too?" I feel sick. "Yes doctor and the only thing both men have in common was you were the last person to be seen with them alive," he stands and moves closer to me. Close enough for me to smell the mint from his breath."Why do you think that is?"

I am no longer a person of interest but their main suspect. I can tell by his questions but mostly by the way he is looking at me. "I have no idea why, detective," he continues to pierce my soul with his very blue eyes for what feels like ages. "Okay that's it for now but i have a feeling i'll be seeing you soon," he takes the cup of coffee that's been on my desk and before I can react he's out the door.

The rest of my day I have four appointments. After that I take the bus to the mini mart near my apartment. I need liquor badly especially if I am about to go to prison. The thought of that makes every part of me cringe. On top of all that Jade has a date tonight of all nights. I make my way to the drinks section. After i'm done selecting the drinks from fridge I try to close it. I realize someone is holding the refridgerator door. I look up to see Avan with sweatpants and a hoodie on. He looks at my hand and his lips curve into a small smile, "hard day, huh?" He bugs me, something about him feels off. I walk away leaving  him holding the door.

After the cashier is done calculating my total I reach in for my wallet. A hand from behind me reaches around me and places a big can of ice cream next to my drinks. "Add that," I hear the familiar voice and I don't even have to turn to know who it is. "What do you think you're doing?" I look back to see him holding his tongue out like a kid who's just gotten away with something. "It'll be fifty dollars miss," the cashier says looking so uncomfortable with the whole situation. Before I can pay Avan hands her his card. I am about to protest but he gets a call and goes outside to receive it.

"Is this Swindle guy going to be an issue for us 'cause we can always get someone else," I walk next to him. He looks at me and I can swear for a second there he looked startled. But he covers it too well and too fast. "Wait, did you just say Swindle? Like detective Swindle," he looks at me with a confused look. "No, that was my assistant. What would I be talking about a detective for?" he looks like he's telling the truth. I begin to wonder if I am actually that stressed out that I am starting to hear my own things. I hand him his icecream. "I don't eat that stuff, too cold and gives me headaches," I return it to the shopping bag. "So why did you buy it?" he smiles. "You said you were having a hard day." "No I didn't." Yes you did." "No I didn't." We go on like that for a while that I don't even notice we begin walking towards my apartment.

"Fine, maybe you didn't but you're too easy to read Starr," I like it when he calls me that. It reminded me of my brother. I wish he was here. He could have taken care of the whole murder thing for me. God, how I miss him, how I miss all of them. "A hard day is an understatement. Because you're feeling so generous maybe I could hold on to this too,"I say showing him his gold card. "Yeah, why not?" he says giving me such intense eyes. "Everything that I have will one day belong to you anyway," he smiles and continue walking. I stand there trying to process what he'd just said. "Hey I was kidding take your card back," I say running to catch up to him. "Well I wasn't," we're now standing at the gate of my apartment. "Isn't this you?" he says pointing at the gate. "How do you know?" "Tell me why you had a hard day and i'll tell you how I know," I can't tell my patient who's maybe mentally unstable that his doctor may be going to prison for the murder of two men.

"Okay then, you keep your secrets and i'll keep mine," he smiles when he says it. But still a part of me feels like mine isn't a secret and if it is,  it won't be for much longer. At least not to him. "So is this where we look at each other longingly and I lean in for a kiss?" that startles me and I take a step back. "This was not a date," he takes a step forward. "You're right that can't be our first date, so like a pre date or something like that?" he smiles and my cheecks feel hot. He smiles like he has achieved his goal and takes a step back.

Two black suvs come driving fast and stop by us. One man gets out and bows to him. "We've found her. She's abroad but we've found Lily Sir," he rushes in and punches the guy. The guy drops to the grond clenching his stomach. He looks back at me, "have a restful night and try not to worry so much. Things have a way of taking care of themselves."  Avan enters one of the cars and they drive off. That name seems familiar. Lily, where have I heard it before? It is when I am in the shower that it finally dawns on me. Lily was my brother's fiancee and Jade's sister. Could it be the same Lily? And if so what does he want with her.

The lights are off, but the bright reflection from the moon lights the whole room. He lifts me from the floor and puts me on the computer desk that is close to the door. He leans in and lick my lips. I close my eyes in anticipation. He tightens his grip on my waist and pull me to the edge of the desk. I wrap my legs around his waist. He lifts my face and connect our lips. There is nothing slow about the kiss. It is full of passion and desire. I wrap my arms around his neck, but he takes them and puts them on his trouser's waist line. I run my fingers teasingly below his trouser along his waist. He deepens the kiss. He slowly kisses my cheeks until he gets to my neck. When he gets to my neck, he deepens the kiss. I give in and move my hand lower to his crotch. He comes up for air, and pulls me closer and burries his head in my hair. It doesn't take long to get him hard. Feeling him getting hard makes me wet. As if hearing my thoughts he unzips my dress. He carries me from the des

  • MATCH MADE IN HELL.   CHAPTER FORTY SIX; JADE'S CHOICE.

I have lost track of just how much I have had to drink. Everything suddenly feels like it is not such a big deal. Jade pulls me from my seat and we start dancing. We haven't been up for long and there are two guys grinding against me from the back and the front. I link my arm around the guy in front of me. He pulls me closer by my waist. The guy behind me has his face at the nape of my neck and his hands on my hips. I look up at the moving lights and I feel like I am the one moving, but the position I am in even if I was indeed moving I wouldn't fall. The guy behind me moves his hands to the hem of the dress. He lets his fingers linger there for a moment. The one on the front pulls me closer that my breasts are pressed against his chest. I don't mind any of it. I prefer to be thinking of what they are doing other than anything else. I look away for a second. I see him. At a distance, watching me. His perfect face with amusement written all over it. I look away and try to pull aw

  • MATCH MADE IN HELL.   CHAPTER FORTY FIVE; CHANGE OF PLANS.

"So how have you been?" It is my last patient of the day. "I have been good. The medication and the breathing exercises are really helping," his eyes are still twitching and I am concerned. "How many hours of sleep do you get?" he has insomnia and extreme anxiety. "Seven to eight hours," he answers. "A night?" he shakes his head. "A week," he has been taking sleeping pills for years now and he has build a tolerance for them and I am not comfortable upping his dosage. "Martin, you have to sleep," I plead with him. He is on the verge of a breakdown. "I want to but my mind won't shut off," I feel for him. "I understand. But if you're not getting better, then I will have to get you committed," I explain. He should have been committed long ago, but he is from an influential family and they are very critical of their image. "Give me more time," he says, his twitch getting worse. I don't want to be an addition to his stress, but I have to put my foot down. For his sake. "You have to stop

  • MATCH MADE IN HELL.   CHAPTER FORTY FOUR; RIGHT WHERE WE STARTED.

It's harder to go back to my life after all that has happened. I tell myself,I will have to go back eventually, and the sooner I do it the better. I just need to get through the first day, just today. I arrive at the office earlier than Christine. I look though my notes and all the cancelled appointments. Avan really fucked over so many people."Hey," I look up from my computer to see Christine standing by the door. "It's really you," she is both shocked and excited. "Of course, who else would it be?"I ask, standing and walking away from my desk. "I thought it was another patient trying to steal her file, or worse a wife of a patient," we hug. "No, just little old me," she remains holding my hands even after the hug. "Where have you been all this time?" she asks. "It's a really long story," I don't want to get into any of it now."How have you been?" I ask, shifting the attention to her. "I have been good, better than you at least," she gives me a sad look that I dismiss. "What's

  • MATCH MADE IN HELL.   CHAPTER FORTY THREE; FATHER AND DAUGHTER.

After three days of being closely examined, the doctor finally signed the release form. Jade hasn't left my side. She wants to know more about Avan, but after seeing how reluctant I am to talk about him, she finally gave up. "Finally," she finishes packing my things and helping me up. "I can walk by myself," I take a couple of steps to prove it. "Okay," she says, laughing. At night when everyone is asleep I'd walk around the hospital, but I have never been outside my room at day time until today. It looks smaller, with people running around. "What are your plans now that you are free of that homicidal maniac?" she asks linking her arm with mine. "I just want to get back to work," I say, Christine crossing my mind. I wonder how she has been doing. "I think you should take some time off," she says throwing me a concerned look. "I can't sit in one place anymore. Plus I am ready," I give her a small reassuring smile. "I know this is weird, but I think you should see someone," she say

  • MATCH MADE IN HELL.   CHAPTER FORTY TWO; AVAN IS DEAD.

There is ringing in my ears and my head feels heavy which seems to be made worse by the lights. "She is awake," I hear a familiar voice before people are all over me. "Do you know who you are?" a doctor shining light into my eyes asks. "Stop that," I say, pushing the pen torch aside. "How are you feeling sweetie?" Jade asks, coming closer to me. "What happened?" they all look at each other. "What is the last thing you rememmber?" the doctor asks me. "I was getting away. Did I manage to escape?" I look around me. I did it, I managed to escape. "Yes honey, you made it out of the fire," Jade says, holding my hand, tears welling up in her eyes. "Fire, what fire?" I look around their confused faces. "Wait, what did you mean by escape?" the doctor asks, a look of concern taking over her face. I am hesitant to say anything, especially since it seems there are pieces of my memory missing. "I am tired, can I sleep?" I hope they would all go away. "Not yet," the doctor says. "Where are you

As he gets closer, my heart beats faster. Everyone is quiet. Looking at him in that pin drop silence, I feel so many emotions at once. He gets to where I am. I get startled in the middle of the night. I reach out for him but the bed is empty. "Avan," I call out for him but nothing. I try to go back to sleep but I am unable to. I switch on the lights and get out of bed. I am very familiar with his house at this point. I hesitate in front of his room. I
