LADY MATE

For a week now, Alpha Liam has let me out of my room.

Of course, the warriors around the perimeter of the property have been tasked to watch me.

He gave me rules as well.

One, I was not allowed to enter the central pack house where he lived with other important pack members. I was to remain in the lesser one where Omegas and slaves were housed.

Two, I was absolutely forbidden to be involved with any other male. He would kill the fellow on the spot. It's not like I care....

And for what reason would I involve myself with another obnoxious pack wolf?

Another rule was that I was to respect all those with ranks superior to mine. He made it clear; he would not step up for me if I made any trouble.

I scoff as I pluck off a grass stalk.

Can't show weakness, huh...

For the past week, he has become more and more touchy.

He feels me up everytime he gets the chance. Every. Single. Time.

It doesn't matter if I am in the open field like I am now, or if I am in a dark corridor. He doesn't care if it is morning, afternoon or night; he will always touch me.

We have not done it yet.

It is like he is playing with me; making me like what he's doing. It sickens me because I am in true fact falling for it. Every single day, I find myself waiting for these intimate moments.

I find myself longing for his hands shakily caressing my behind, fondling my thighs but never reaching the pulsing flesh between. I find myself hungry for his hateful insults every time he touches me; the spiteful spanks and bruises he leaves everywhere.

My body is sore even now, from how rough he gets.

I let out a very bitter sigh; Alpha Liam is really getting to me.

A few warriors are sparring in the distance; howling loudly. They irritate me, these people. Packmates.

Pretenders, that's all they are. I've noticed them for the week I've been here. How they all do things together, gather round bonfires and sing, eat heartily and listen to each other's woes.

All pretense. Lies.

At the end of the day, if worse came to worst; they would kill each other with the very arms they exchanged embraces with. I smile mockingly at the thought and get up from the grass.

"Aunt Gwenny!" A little kid comes running my way and slams into my legs.

It's Theo. A boy I met just a bit after being allowed to move free. He was the very first to talk to me- in fact, he was the only one who made that move.

But then again, he's only a child. Of course, he doesn't hold such sentiments.

I crouch to his level and a small, stiff smile crawls over my face. "Hi, Theo. What brings you here today?"

Theo lives in the central pack house. His father is my damned mate's beta. The same one I had met the night Liam took me. "I came to say hi. Everyone in the house is sooo boringgg. No one wants to play!"

I let out an equally stiff laugh. "Well, I'm free to play with you, friend."

But before that...

"Where's your mother?" I ask. Theo's mother is a witch; a truly horrible person. The first time she saw me with her son, she marched over with her claws drawn. Her eyes had been blood red and she had pulled my hair violently.

She was truly going to slit my throat until the warriors intervened. Liam was not on pack territory that day; but he had passed his orders. I was not to be harmed.

That was my saving grace then. However, I've been paranoid of her ever since.

Theo laughs, chubby cheeks reddening. "Don't worry about mother! She's too busy with the welcoming ceremony. She won't care one bit!"

I nod slowly. "Welcome ceremony?"

Theo nods and gestures for me to come closer. "Uncle Liam has found a lady mate," the little boy whispers.

My heart jumps up to my mouth. "Lady mate?"

It can't be me...Liam hates me

"Yup. Yup. She's in the house right now. She's so pretty. Papa said she's a princess!"

My heart falls back down, straight into my stomach where it sinks. Why does it matter?

It doesn't.

"Uhm. Theo, we'll have to play another time. I need to get some work done. I promise we'll play a lot next time."

The boy pouts his lips but I tickle him with the grass stalk and he starts to laugh.

"Play later, okay?"

Theo hugs me. "Okay!"

When he leaves, I realize my smile is no longer stiff.

At least until I remember Liam and this so-called lady mate. I tell myself it does not matter one bit, but I find myself walking towards the central pack house.

Something is biting me from within; I'm not sure what it is.

The warriors look at me with disgusted curiosity as I pass by. Some wink at me and laugh about how much their alpha was enjoying that arse.

I ignore them and make my way closer to the central pack house. My skin is tingling; my mate is near.

I know he knows I'm close. I want him to seek me out; I want him to forcefully touch my skin and curse me for being irresistible.

I need his hate. Anything. My skin crawls because I've reduced myself to such a dick hungry whore. I hate him all the same but I've become desperate.

I hate him for that. I hate that I want him..I hate that there's someone else.

Before I can get any closer, I hear his voice. He's laughing and he's not alone. I go behind a huge tree flanking the house.

There's a female by his side- his arms are around her; his eyes are kissing her flawless skin.

And just like Theo said, this lady mate was unimaginably beautiful.

My eyes dilate. I feel anger bubble.

Gwen's POVThe tent was still and cold, save for the gentle crackle of the fire warming us. Its warm glow shines against the canvas, creating long and Bling shadows that moved in the low light. I lay on the soft furs, finally free from the excruciating and damn pain that had plagued me for days. The healer had left, her magic still in the air like the scent of fresh rain after a storm. But the tempest within me? It was far from over. I was changed. The power I had taken from Morgana was gone already, torn from me in a painful ritual that left me feeling empty and transformed into a new being.Yet, for the first time in what felt like ages, I could breathe. I was no longer in darkness. I was alive, hale and hearty. And I owed my survival to Liam, he is truly a sweetheart. He had remained by my side through it all.I turned slowly, my look landing on him as he sat near the tent's edge, his body tense and hands held into fists. His golden eyes were fixed on the fire, but I could sense th

Gwens POVI was very aware of the change within me. The gradual, invasive feeling ran into my bones like a toxin tonic. My muscles twisted with pain, my breaths came in quick gasps so fast and unencouraging, and my vision was starting to fade at the edges. Though I stood and continued to fight, I was far from my peak. And that was surprising and shocking as well.Liam stood beside me, his sword dripping with blood, his look surveying the destroyed battlefield.
