Chapter 58

~Autumn~

I regained consciousness on the hospital bed. With my squinted eyes, I looked around the place. My eyes fell on Ian. He was seated on a chair, holding my hand. “How do you feel now, sweetheart?” he asked. I saw fear in his eyes. Did he think I was going to die or something?

“I’m better now,” I affirmed. The nurse came along.

“Hey, Autumn. You are awake. How do you feel?” she asked cheerfully.

“I am fine now, nurse,” I declared, sitting up.

“Be careful,” Ian supported me. I reclined my back against the headboard.

“What happened to me?” I asked. The nurse looked at Ian. I got what she meant. “Ian, can you excuse us, please?” I requested.

“Why?”

“Just a minute, please,” I said. He waited for a minute before accepting. He went out. The nurse took a seat on the chair Ian stood up from. “So what happened to me?” I asked.
