ASHLEY

My mind kept going back to Axel's behavior during breakfast.

I knew Axel to be violent and somewhat uncouth. He was simply arrogant. But I was still trying to understand the reason for the madness he displayed at the dining table. At least he had stopped accusing me of manipulating the mate bond. That was the worst part of it for me.

My heart skipped as I recalled the strong current that flowed through my body when our eyes met. It felt so strong, I had to tear my eyes from him. Despite his meanness, I still found myself desiring him. The sight of Axel caused goosebumps to appear on my skin.

I could not help but imagine erotic moments with him. I knew I had no right thinking of Axel in that manner. He hated me too much and there was no way he would stoop to the point of wanting to have sex with me.

I blamed it all on the mate bond. That was the only explanation I had for being so intimidated by Axel's presence and still having intimate thoughts of him.
