Aurora’s POV

Who knew pack gatherings could be this enjoyable?

I didn’t expect to have as much fun as I did yesterday. At one point, I didn’t want it to end. I managed to make more friends than I ever had combined in my life.

I laughed more than I had since we left Vancouver, and I fell asleep that night with the unfamiliar sensation of my cheeks sore from smiling.

For the first time, I had real contacts saved in my phone.

Jenny Cole, whom I saved as “Jenny Fire,” had already sent me three voic

Logan POV I wore my training gear.I didn't know how seriously he was taking this until I got a bunch of training wear and gear in my room. It was enough to last a year. Thankfully, the cupboard in my room was extremely large, so it could fit all my outfits just nicely. But still.I waited outside. He was thirty minutes late."Jerk," I murmured, starting to feel really bored. After waiting another five minutes, I stood, already prepared to leave. "Jerk," I muttered under my breath. Next time I saw him, I'd punch his face."Oh really?" he murmured, blocking my path with his huge frame."Why are you late?" I asked, folding my arms and looking him straight in the eye."I had business to attend to.""Then why do you smell like you've been around alcohol?" I asked, sniffing."I'll not be late next time. Let's train."I nodded and got into the stance. I bent my knees the way he'd taught me, hands up, chin tucked. The clearing behind the house was quiet, the grass damp with evening dew. I

  • MATED TO MY TWIN STEPBROTHERS   Chapter 47: The Fight

Logan POV "Where have you been, Briane?" Lucas asked him the moment he sat down.Briane dropped into the leather chair, windblown and unbothered, and shrugged one shoulder. "Sorry, I'm late. I had something to attend to."Lucas leaned back, swirling the amber liquid in his glass, his grey eyes narrowing with something too sharp to be simple irritation. "Uhmm, you always have something to attend to recently."The bar around us was dim and close, all dark wood and the sour smell of spilled beer. This was the kind of place where pack business got discussed in corners, and fights started over nothing. I didn't want to be here. I didn’t like drinking mindlessly or just hanging out randomly. I wanted to be with her right now. I want to train with her. I want to see her smile when she manages to do something I taught her. I want to see her excitement, her will to try and never give up. The way she bites her tongue and tucks her hair up when things start getting serious.Or maybe I should a

  • MATED TO MY TWIN STEPBROTHERS   CHAPTER 46: CAUGHT

Lucielle’s POV"Why are you running from me?" he asked, stepping closer to me.The air in my room felt too thin. His scent…pine and smoke…filled every corner, making my knees threaten to buckle. My back hit the edge of my dresser and the wood dug into my spine, grounding me. Moonlight poured through the open window, painting silver across his shoulders and the hunger in his eyes."Did you come through my window like a psychopath?" I was deflecting. We both knew that. But how was I supposed to face what was going on right now?"I will go through a window, a fucking wall, if it means getting to you.""What the fuck is going on? How did you get through the gate?" That was a useless question, knowing that he was a werewolf and the gates were there as decoration most of the time."You are my mate. We both felt it that day, so why have you been avoiding me, Lucielle? What are you afraid of?" he said, stepping closer. The wall was cold against my back. I had spent two years building walls so

  • MATED TO MY TWIN STEPBROTHERS   CHAPTER 45: THE SECRET KEEPER

Lucielle's POVI watched Aurora all day.She sat two rows ahead of me in Political Science, and I didn't need to see her face to know something was wrong. Her shoulders were too stiff. Her silver hair, usually catching the light like wire, looked dull, pulled back in a messy bun that she hadn't bothered to smooth. When the professor called on her, she answered in a monotone, her voice hollowed out.She was pale and tired. The kind of tiredness that sleep doesn't fix.I felt my heart move with worry for her … a small, frightened squeeze in my chest. But I didn't know what to do. I never knew what to do. I was the girl who watched from corners, who passed notes instead of speaking, who hid behind my silence. I couldn't march up to Aurora and demand she tell me what was draining the colour from her cheeks. So I sat. And I watched. And I worried with my hands white on my bag strap. After the last bell rang, Aurora found us by the lockers. She looked worse up close … there was a tremor

  • MATED TO MY TWIN STEPBROTHERS   CHAPTER 44: THE ALLURE

Aurora's POV"That heartless bastard."I grumbled to myself, forcing my sore body into my jeans. Every muscle screamed. My back ached where the tree bark had scraped me, my elbow throbbed where it had hit the root, and my nose … which had stopped bleeding sometime during the night … felt tender to the touch.I always healed faster than normal. But this was taking its sweet, beautiful time.I walked down the stairs one careful step at a time, gripping the railing like an old woman. "Cupcakes!" Lucas grinned at me from the kitchen island, his easy charm already in place, his grey eyes warm. "Come sit here."He patted the stool beside him and pushed a plate toward me … it was filled with pancakes and blueberries, with syrup glistening on top of it. I thanked him and sat, hyperaware of Lucas's gaze fixed on my face. He wasn't even trying to look away. He was watching me like a creep.I knew something had changed between us during that practice. How he had looked at me in the dark. How

  • MATED TO MY TWIN STEPBROTHERS   CHAPTER 43: THE WATCH

Aurora's POVWhen I got back to the estate, I went straight to the kitchen and pulled a piece of bread from the fridge. I didn't even bother with a plate. I just stood there in the empty room, chewing without tasting it, staring at the marble island, chewing like a mountain goat.I swallowed hard. He was back. After a week of nothing. I told myself I didn't care if he was back or not. I told myself I was relieved, actually, because now Lucas could be my bodyguard again, and everything would be warm and easy and uncomplicated.I was a liar.I threw the rest of the bread in the trash and ran upstairs, my heart beating hard for no reason. I changed into soft shorts and an oversized shirt, grabbed a book from the shelf, and curled up in bed.The words blurred. I read the same paragraph four times. My ears were tuned to the hallway, waiting for footsteps, waiting for the sound of a door opening and closing three feet from mine.Nothing.I fell asleep with the book open on my chest and the

Aurora’s POVBy the fourth day, I was breaking, and the worst part was, I did not know if it was my wolf or my heart.I woke up drenched in sweat, my sheets tangled around my legs like they were trying to trap me. Aurora’s POV“I am fine, Lucas.”I forced a smile onto my face and pushed his hand gently away from my cheek. “Really.
