ACE'S POV

Karla probably thought I was not taking finding her coven seriously, but I did. If it concerned Karla, I took it very seriously. She thought it was the deal I was pushing for the pack that was making me so busy.

Yes, it was important that I monitored the deal closely, but it wasn't that hard, and it wasn't going to take me two weeks off pack to take care of it. Plus, the deal wasn't even that complicated, it just required a lot of meetings to build trust.

I wanted to expand the landmass of the pack. Now, it would be easier if I could just rebuild the borders, but I first had to go to the council of Alphas for permission. I thought it would be that easy until the council told me that the land the pack was built upon and the one that extended almost five acres around the pack belonged to another pack. They left the land because of a witch's curse.

The old man only got permission to use the land by word of mouth. It was a lot of years ago, and the two men never saw it fit to

THIRD PERSON'S POV "There's another reason you hid it from me?" Ace asked softly."But let's not talk about it. Let bygones be bygones, right?"Ace shook his head in disagreement. "No, Karla. I won't let you do this. It is your refusal to tell me things that led us to this place in the first place."Karla hesitated. She knew it was only going to lead to another fight and finger-pointing. "Ace, please, let's forget about it. It will do no good. Will you trust me this once and just let this go?""No, Karla." He said firmly. "Let's talk about this and move on from it. You think I won't start getting stressed out about what you're hiding?""I... will you promise me that you won't hate me?""Karla, nothing you do will make me hate you." He said honestly, and he knew it was true. He could be angry at her, frustrated by her pigheaded behavior, but he could never hate her. There's nothing he would forgive her for, and there was nothing he would give her. She wanted the world? He would burn i

  • MATED TO THE ALPHA TWINS    CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN

ACE'S POV I was surprised by my own reaction to the loss of our baby. It was one of those things that you never thought would happen to you. Miscarriage. The words floated in the air and mocked me. I was really looking forward to it. I didn't know if this ache in my chest would ever disappear.I was sad, angry, and depressed. But anger was the one I clung to. I was angry at Karla. Being angry at Karla was also one thing I never thought I would do. Yes, there were times that I was frustrated with her, but it never went past that. But I was angry, really angry that she was so careless. It took a lot of my willpower for me not to reach for her yesterday on our way back from the hospital. I wanted to hold her and then comfort her. I would take solace in the fact that she was okay, but I couldn't bring myself to do any of those things.Despite myself, I prepared a bath for her because I knew as much as I was hurting, she would be feeling it twice as much. Her body would mourn the loss of

  • MATED TO THE ALPHA TWINS    CHAPTER FORTY-SIX

KARLA'S POV "What do you mean she lost her pregnancy?" Ace was the first to recover from the news. I broke down in soft sobs because I kind of already had a feeling from the way I bled that it was going to lead to a miscarriage. But the confirmation was still painful. "Um, like I said, she miscarried..." "All of a sudden? Just out of the blue? Are you sure you know what you're talking about?" Ace fumed. "Please calm down, Alpha. Of course, it wasn't out of the blue. She must have been cramping. It's a symptom. When she called me to..." The doctor suddenly realized that he had said too much, but it was too late, and I clocked the exact time that Ace processed what the doctor said. "You called him in for cramping?" "Yes, Ace, but it was nothing. It was not..." I looked at the doctor for support, but he had left. "Why didn't you tell me?" He wasn't yelling, but the coldness in his voice made me know that he was angry. "You thought it was serious enough to call a doctor, and yet

  • MATED TO THE ALPHA TWINS    CHAPTER FORTY-FOUR

KARLA'S POV Finding a coven for me had to wait because Ace was currently in the middle of a huge deal. He was not being very forthcoming about the details, but he said it would be very lucrative for the pack and that it would make the pack even more stronger. I was worried about the pack and what would happen if this deal didn't go through. Ace had no reason to be this secretive about a deal, so it was worrisome. I even asked Rayden about it, and he only gave me a tight-lipped smile that said he wasn't really interested in talking about it. He and I had grown closer since he told me about his past. Ace grumbled about our alliance all the time, but I seemed to think that he secretly loved the way we were close, though he would never admit it.It has been two months since I got pregnant, and I didn't know how else I could pass the time. I was bored and lonely. Ace came home late and left at ungodly hours when I would still be sleeping. If I didn't know better, I would say that he was

  • MATED TO THE ALPHA TWINS    CHAPTER FORTY-THREE

KARLA'S POV Ace did take care of it, and he refused to tell me how he did it. All I knew is he came back three days later with my family registry in hand. "Goddess, please don't tell me you went back to BlueMoon." I said, scared that he was doing something so reckless. "I'm not stupid, baby, or reckless. I know what I'm doing." "I know, but I'm just afraid this will have some sort of blowback on us." "You worry too much, baby." He grinned. "Nothing is going to happen." "Okay, I trust you." "To assure you that there's not going to be any blowback from this. You're afraid they will notice and trace it back to us?" "Yes." "Don't worry, I'm going to return it, but we can use it for as long as you need." Since I was not interested in things blowing up, I immediately got to work. The next day, Rayden and I sat down with the family registry to trace my family history. "Where do we start from?" Rayden asked. "My father's name is Eric." Turns out that there had been quite a few E
