SONIA’S POV.
My eyes fluttered open, and this time, I found myself lying under a tree. I turned to see Michael giving orders to his men. I shifted, placing my hand on my pounding head."You woke up just in time," Michael said as he strolled over to me.I frowned. "What's wrong with you? Kidnapping me is a serious crime, don't you know that?" I hissed."Shhhh... cherry," he hushed, squatting down and placing a finger on my lips. "This isn't the time to unleash all your anger on me. You need to conserve your strength. The drug is potent," he said gently, as if speaking to a child."If you hadn't shot me, I wouldn't be in this state," I scolded. He shrugged. "You are right, but it was the only way to bring you along.""And what makes you think I won't run away once I regain my strength?" I said, crossing my arms."Let me worry about that later," he sighed before standing up. "My men are out in the woods to find meat for us. We bought a couple of wines along, so we'll be able to have a decent meal today."The mention of food made my stomach growl loudly, and I blushed in embarrassment. He smiled at me before joining his men to discuss arrangements, likely about sleeping arrangements from their gestures.I turned around; this place wasn't familiar at all, and I had no idea which direction we had come from. Escaping would be challenging with so many guards around, but it would be even harder once we reached Michael's castle. This was the best time for me to formulate an escape plan. I could hear the faint sound of flowing water, so I knew there was likely a lake nearby. I decided to follow it, hoping it would lead me to town.Men had dictated my life for too long. I had not spent sixteen years training to be the first female Alpha just to end up as a slave to an obnoxious male specimen who thought I would be his property.Michael returned to where I was. "Follow me."I frowned, looking him squarely in the eyes. "I'm not going anywhere with you, dumbass. You said I should save my strength, so that's what I'm doing.""Oh, right," Michael muttered before effortlessly bending down to pick me up and carrying me on his shoulders."What the fuck is wrong with you? Haven't you any manners? This is no way to treat a lady," I scolded, watching his ass move as he carried me.“With all the cussing you are doing today, I’m afraid, ma’am, you are far from being a lady,” he quipped, flashing a mischievous smile.I hissed, angrily pushing my hair out of my face. "Just put me down."He halted and gently placed me back on my feet.I frowned, smoothing out my disheveled hair before shooting him a sarcastic look. “Surprising that you can actually listen,” I remarked. He pointed behind me. "Over there."Turning, I saw a tent had been set up. "Is this where I'll be sleeping?" I asked, raising my brows. It was away from the rest of the crew, which meant escaping would be easier."It's where we will both be sleeping," he said with a smirk. My eyes widened in shock as I dramatically placed my hands on my chest. "Absolutely not! I refuse to spend the night with you.”"Don't worry, I'm not going to try to sleep with you unless you want me to... then I'll be happy to be at your service," he teased.I blinked rapidly. "You have a terrible mind," I hissed.Michael chuckled. "You know, for someone who spent most of their life trying to be perfect and not show emotions, you are surprisingly easy to torment. If I were your uncle, I would ask for a refund."I gasped in shock, The audacity of this male specimen. He always managed to get on my nerves, from childhood to adulthood, and now he was even more irritating. I wanted to call him out, but I knew it would only prove his point. Instead, I took a deep breath and exhaled, releasing all my built up anger."Stay in the tent. I will bring you food," he said, turning away. "And don't even think of escaping; I have got my eyes on you."I glanced to my side and noticed one of his men watching me from the far corner. I scoffed at him before making my way into the tent.Once inside the tent, I made a decision: my wedding dress was not designed for escaping and running away from my family.I tore the bottom part of my dress so it fell above my knees and created a long slit to ease my movement. Next, I removed all my expensive earrings and necklaces, wrapping them in a piece of torn fabric. I would need them later to trade for food, and I couldn't afford to lose them while on the run. I secured the makeshift pouch around my waist when a tiny bottle fell out.I picked it up, staring at it. Bella had given it to me upon my request. I had asked her for a sleeping potion to avoid my wedding night duties with Kelvin, but now I would use it for my escape. After a while, Michael entered the tent with a server who placed the food on a small table. Once the server was gone, he turned to me with a smug look. "Are you trying to seduce me, ma'am? I will have you know, you don't have to do much to get me turned on," he winked.I rolled my eyes. "Get your mind out of the gutter."Sitting down at the table, I began eating, but Michael just stood there watching me.I turned to him with half chewed food in my mouth. "Did you poison me?"Michael laughed. "You are no use to me dead. Please, enjoy. I'm going to eat with my men."I swallowed, dropping the utensils. "I'm not eating unless you join me.""You acted like you hated my presence earlier, but now you want me. Interesting," he replied."Don't feel too special," I muttered. He nodded before excusing himself to inform his men that he wouldn't be joining them. While he was away, I emptied the sleeping powder into the wine glass. He returned and sat opposite me,"Here, take this wine as a peace offering," I said, offering him the glass with a small smile.Michael looked at me suspiciously, then at the glass. "I can pour my own wine.""I know, but this is a peace offering.""Why should I trust you? You might have tampered with it while I was away."I offered him a warm smile. "There's no way I could have done that; you brought the food, not me.""Besides, you are no use to me dead," I smirked. He took the glass from my hand and downed it in one gulp. It took all my willpower not to smile. Now, I just needed to wait for the drug to kick in.SONIA’S POV. It was almost two hours after I drugged him. The bonfire had been extinguished, so I knew most of his guards were sleeping."Michael," I called out, tapping him multiple times, but he remained fast asleep and unaware of his surroundings. I removed his dagger from his side. It was finely crafted and must have cost a fortune. "Thank you. I will return it when I can," I muttered under my breath.A satisfied smile crossed my lips as I prepared to depart. Carefully, I crept away, ensuring not to disturb the sleeping guards or draw any unwanted attention to myself. Finally, out of sight, I broke into a swift but silent sprint, eager to put as much distance between us as possible.Suddenly, the bushes rustled loudly, and I could sense their presence; someone was watching me."Show yourself," I commanded, my hand instinctively reaching for my dagger.A figure emerged from the bush, but instead of preparing for a confrontation, they bowed respectfully before me. I quickly recogni
SONIA’S POV.I was bound by the hands like a prisoner as we made our way to the Lycan King's territory. Michael had not spoken to me since last night, and it made me uncomfortable. I wonder what was on his mind; was he going to punish me or, worse, kill me? He wouldn't kill me, right? After all, I had saved him when my pack guards tried to kill him and sacrificed my own chances of going back home. I had a higher chance of being forgiven when I ran away from the wedding, but now, the prospect of my family or pack accepting me seemed nearly impossible."Are you not going to say anything to me?" I asked, unable to bear the awkward silence any longer."Say something about what?" he responded calmly, still avoiding eye contact.I sighed. "About last night? Are you going to talk about it?" I pressed."No. There is nothing for me to discuss," he replied nonchalantly. But his response did not satisfy me. I wondered what was going on in his mind. I have heard tales of his cruelty and merciless
SONIA'S POV. I heard a knock on my door. "Go away," I yelled, hiding under the covers. But the knock did not cease. After a while, the door opened, and someone went to open the curtains, letting sunlight flood in. I whined, reluctantly opening my eyes to see who had disturbed my beauty sleep.Turning, I saw an older woman standing a few inches away from my bed."I want to be left alone," I hissed."Forgive me, Your Majesty, but I am afraid I can't do that. The Lycan King requests that we be of service to you," she answered politely."Uhn? What do you mean?" I asked, blinking sleepily as I sat upright on my bed.She clapped her hands once, and like clockwork, several maids entered the room, each carrying an array of items. One held a basket filled with bottles of essential oils, while another carried a bundle of soft, fluffy towels. The rest brought trays of carefully folded clothes, fresh linens, and various other amenities fit for royalty. They wasted no time, dragging me out of bed
SONIA’S POV. It has been the most ten long, agonizing days of my life since Michael left, and I'm starting to feel like I'm going crazy. The castle walls are closing in on me, and I'm desperate for some fresh air and freedom, just like every prisoner would. I've spent most of my time cooped up in my room, reading books and chatting with almost every maid to pass the time. But today, I decided I'd had enough. I needed to get out and explore the territory. I finally got out of bed and headed straight to the kitchen, hoping to find something to eat before going out. "I want freshly made apple juice." "Yes, ma'am," the head maid replied, bowing her head. Miranda reminded me of a childhood friend, although they were nothing alike. Candice was much younger, for one, tall, voluptuous, and blond. But it went beyond the physical differences; Candice was softer, gentler. It didn't matter; I got the same warm feelings from Miranda that he got from my childhood friend. It was very upsetting,

Michael's pov I watched Sonia from afar, she stood in the midst of everyone. Taking a deep steadying breath, she lifted her arms gracefully above her head, waited for the first note of the flute and prayed the guys accomplished their mission. I couldn't believe she would do this all in the name of entertaining herself, this only indicated I should be more strict with her.As the music began, the bells on her ankles tinkled in the cool summer night, a delicate suggestion of exotic seraglios, of submissive women and carnal pleasures. And she moved across the small stage in a gentle swaying rhythm, her smile promising heavenly delights, every man's attention riveted on her. Her lashes lifted seductively, she twirled to clamorous applause and over the heads of her audience she saw me slip through the back door of the house. She danced then, an age-old dance of seduction and allure, her body offering intemperate passion, her small bare feet gliding over the rough lumber as if it were the
Sonia's pov "Michael, I need to leave this castle. I can not breath in here!" I said for the seventh time, hoping he would at least respond. With uttering a word he kept on walking. He didn't stop, or even slow down. He just kept walking away as if he hadn't even heard me.I was shocked. No man had ever ignored me that way before. Amazed, then with a rush of determination, I lifted my skirts and stumbled after him. "Wait! Please wait!"That stopped him. He turned, thrusting out one hard hip and resting his weight on the wall. He waited.I paused when I was still a good distance from him. There was no expression on his face. Nothing. And the way his hips were cocked, so arrogantly. Frowning, I came forward so I would not have to shout, but remained far enough away to dodge him if need be. "Excuse me." I tried out a brilliant smile, but there was no response."Could you at least just let me out of the castle?" He stared. When he did not respond, I grew uncomfortable and began to have s
Chapter 15Sonia's pov When I looked closer, my heart skipped a beat. It was truly Joe , my father’s loyal guard, now apparently serving my uncle. The sight of him in his familiar uniform, though slightly worn, brought back every goddamn flood of memories that were not so pleasant.“Sonia,” Joe said the moment he got close to me, “I can hardly believe it’s you.”I marked my page and set the book aside, eyeing him warily. “Joe, what are you doing here? How did you even find me?”He took one hesitant footstep, unsure of how I'd react if he got too close. “I know you have every reason not to trust me, but please, hear me out.”I knew in my guts that he was being sincere and that kept me from turning him away outright. Nodding slightly, I gestured to a pair of rickety chairs by a dusty shelf. We both sat, the old wood creaking under our weight.Joe cleared his throat, looking around before leaning closer. “I’ve been working undercover in the Dark Moonlight pack. The owner of this booksto
