I felt confused as I gripped Catherine in my arms, her body trembling with fear. She looked up at me with gratitude and whispered, “Thanks for saving me the second time tonight.”

Her words left me perplexed, and I wanted to ask her what she meant, but I hesitated. I didn't want to suggest anything or make her uncomfortable, especially since she was still weak from the attack.

I looked around the area, the rain pouring down on us, drenching us to the bone. The scent of wet earth and pine trees filled my nostrils, and the sound of distant thunder rumbled in the background.

My wolf howled inside me, reminding me of the danger that still lurked nearby. I tightened my grip on Catherine and scanned the surroundings, searching for any signs of further trouble.

But my mind kept wandering back to Catherine's words, and I couldn't shake off the unease in my chest. What did she mean by “the second time”? Had she been in danger before this, and who saved her the first time?
