Strange girl

Catherine's POV

I left the dining table and went to the door. I held the doorknob and opened in a brisk motion only to see a beautiful blonde-haired girl standing before me. ''Trouble.'' She blurted out the moment she held my gaze. With startled eyes, I watched her close her eyes and began murmuring words to herself, totally ignoring my presence.

''Who is at the door.'' Lucas asked from the dining table, ''Some strange girl.'' I said while staring at the strange blonde girl whose eyes were still closed, murmuring words to herself. I kept staring at her while Lucas walked from behind and stood beside me. ''Sandra.'' He called out to her, but she didn't give him a response, rather, she kept murmuring words to herself. ''What is she doing?'' I asked, ''She is having a vision, don't worry, she will be back.'' He assured me and just then she opened her eyes and held my gaze. Holding her gaze, I realized her eyes were clouded with blood, which frightened me and I had to take a step backwards. ''Stay calm, she won't harm you.'' Lucas assured me and just then she closed her eyes and sucked in a deep breath before she opened them and this time I realized she has beautiful sets of brown eyes.

''Who is she.'' She asked, while holding my gaze with a small frown on her face. ''My cousin, is there something wrong, what did you see?'' Lucas asked, but she didn't give a response, rather she stepped into the house and shut the door. Once again, she threw an angry look at me and walked away, leaving Lucas and me at the door. ''Who is she?'' I asked, confused. ''My friend. Let's go back to the table.'' He said and led the way back to the dining table, while I followed behind, dumbfounded by her action.

We got to the dining table and met her seated on the table having a chat with my aunt. ''I believe you've met Cathy already.'' Aunt said, making an introduction, while I dragged the seat before the strange girl and sat on it. ''Is something wrong?'' Lucas directed those questions to her while she flickered him a weak smile and said, ''I had a vision, but it has nothing to do with you guys.'' She said and placed an empty plate In front of her. I watched her dish some porridge potatoes into her plate and took a spoon of it, while I just sat and watched. There was something strange about her and I just couldn't place it. ''Is something wrong?'' Aunt asked when she noticed my plate was empty. ''I'm fine.'' I replied and dished some potatoes into my plate.

We all ate in silence while I ignored the piercing gaze of the strange girl on me. She was obviously staring at me and wasn't hiding it. After we were all through with the meal, Lucas spoke up. ''Sandy and I are going out to watch a late night film, will you join us?'' He asked and just when I was about to decline, she spoke up, ''Of course she would join us, right?'' She asked while she settled her gaze on me. ''Don't get scared, Cathy, Lucas is there with you.'' My Aunt assured me when she noticed I was hesitating to give a response. ''Alright, I'll join you guys.'' I said with a weak smile. ''Good, go have fun, you'll love it there.'' Aunt assured me and slowly stood to her feet. ''I'll go to bed early.'' She said while Lucas stood to his feet and held her hand leading her to her room.

Lucas left with aunt Lilian, and I was left with Sandra who was staring at me with a piercing gaze which made me uncomfortable, and I had to speak up. ''Is something wrong?'' I asked while holding her gaze. ''Trouble, you are trouble.'' She said, ''Excuse me?'' I asked confused. ''You…'' She wanted to speak, but stopped when she noticed Lucas was coming our way. I stared at her with raised eyebrows, wondering what she meant by what she just said. ''So the movie starts at 8pm, but we have to go earlier, so we can get a good space.'' He said, while I nodded my head and stood to my feet. ''I'll go change into something good.'' I said and left. I walked back into my room, took out a simple outfit of blue jeans and a long black turtleneck sweater. I dressed and up and put on simple black sandals before leaving the room.

I got back to the sitting room and met Sandra and Lucas having a nice chat while Lucas was already dressed up in black crazy jeans and white hoodies. ''Are you set?'' He asked, while I nodded my head as a response, ignoring the gaze of Sandra on me. ''Let's go then.''he said and picked up his truck keys. Lucas led the way while I followed behind, and we all left the house. I went to the back seat of the truck while Sandra sat in the front seat with Lucas.

The drive wasn't as silent as it was when I was with Lucas. Rather, Sandra and Lucas were occupied in a deep discussion and I couldn't contribute to it because the conversation revolved around the activities of the town. Heaving a deep breath, I relaxed on the seat and listened to the music playing on the music player, totally ignoring their conversation. After a fifteen-minute drive, we arrived in a big field which was already occupied with different cars. ''it is an outdoor movie night?'' I asked, getting excited, because I have never gotten the chance to watch an outdoor movie. ''Yes, thank goddess we came earlier.'' He said, and reversed his car so that the back of the truck was facing the direction of the big screen. He parked in an empty space with just few cars ahead of us. ''Alright girls, get to the back of the truck while I go pay for our tickets.'' Lucas said and got out of the car while Sandra and I did the same. We got to the back of the truck and I saw a big blanket was already arranged in a corner. Beaming happily, I climbed on the back of the truck and sat at the right-hand end, while Sandra sat at the left-hand end. We both sat there in silence, ignoring each other's presence, while I looked around, watching as different cars arrived and parked in the available space.

''So you are Lucas's step-cousins'' She asked after several minutes of silence. I wanted to ignore her because she was acting weird, but I decided not to be rude. ''We don't see ourselves as step-cousins.'' I responded in the most friendly manner I could. ''Oh!'' Was all she said as she looked away.

A few minutes later, Lucas came back and climbed on the truck. ''I must be the luckiest man on earth to have two beautiful ladies by my side.'' Lucas said, while we both scoffed at his words. ''He handed a ticket to me and Sandra and was about unwrapping the cup of popcorn when he realized he had forgotten something. ''What is it?'' I asked. ''Bottles of Coke.'' He said and wanted to go for it, but I stopped him. ''I'll go get it, you stay here.'' I said and climbed down from the truck.
