Chapter five
Ariel was unlike any other daughter of an Alpha of her age. The simplest things always gave her a sense of satisfaction but she wasn't stupid not to know how the society works and the do's and don't's of the world she lived in. Instead of staying at home all day. Ariel had decided to take a walk around the building to clear her head. The person whom her father had told her she was going to meet was yet to arrive, she wasn't even curious to meet the unknown guest at all. While walking, she had tried to search for zeres around, but she couldn't find him. An hour passed and as mentioned, the unknown guest had arrived at the mansion. "Ariel Fenlon, it is good to meet you," the man whom visited moved his hand forward and Ariel took it to shake the man's hand. She scratched her head trying to remember the name of the man. "Alpha Xander," Ariel greeted the man with a polite smile. Alpha Xander was a tall and bulky man who had jet black hair. The man was undoubtedly a handsome Warewolf with the utmost bad boy look. Though she had expected to see an old scrawny man but the man looked way too young than her imagination "Straight," said the man and Ariel gave him a questionable look, "You are a reputable lady, you need to learn to walk straight and with grace. I heard from your father that you've been focusing on education and cultures of the mortals," his emphasis on the word mortals didn't sit well with Ariel. As they headed inside the mansion, he said, " I don't understand why your parents would send you abroad when you could get proper training here in his pack or some reputable packs like mine instead, it's such a shame you-" "I don't think you were invited here to give me lectures on what I should or shouldn't do, Alpha Xander," Ariel was already having lots on her table bothering her and this man was getting her agitated with his ceaseless lectures that was so unrelated to why he was here, she didn't even know what was his purpose in visiting. Ariel's eyes met the Alpha's as if lightening clashed with their mere sight. Alpha Xander had grown up having people bow at his feet. He was never used to any unruly behavior from anyone. It was late in the afternoon when he had arrived the blue moon pack. He had come alone to quickly wrap up the stupid idea of an alliance by Alpha Damon for formalities sake. He wasn't going to get engaged to just some random Alpha's daughter. Infact he wasn't willing to even get married in the future to anyone. He was a renowned flirtatious Alpha who follows anything under a skirt and he wasn't ready to lose that title anytime soon. He had only lectured the lady a while ago to piss her off, he wasn't expecting it to work as he had expected to behave docile like the rest of the other Alpha's daughter he had met. Her character intrigued him, no doubt but that wasn't what he was here for. The Luna of the blue moon pack stood with two lines of Omega who bowed to greet him in front of the pack house. Xander had met numerous reputable she-wolves in the hope of a possible alliance but none had worked out but atleast they did ended up getting frisky under the sheets. He wouldn't mind having a great time with the feisty Ariel. Xander , Ariel and Luna Irene had a meal in the lavish dinning room. Xander was told by the Luna that Alpha Damon was busy with pack issues that needed to be solved urgently. In the meantime Luna Irene served as a welcoming hostess as all Luna should be. After lunch, Luna Irene suggested that Ariel should show their guests around the pack. Ariel wasn't well vast with the pack surroundings and her mother was suggesting for her to show someone around and besides she didn't want to walk with a weird alpha from God- knows- where pack who could tell her to stand straight. She wanted to roll her eyes but she knew it would look rude to her mother, even though the Alpha's presence annoyed her as hell. Ariel glanced at Xander with a tight smile "Are you ready?" "For a walk?, Xander asked and Ariel nodded. "Sure I would love to be familiar with the environment as your father seems not to be in presence," they was a lace of sarcasm in his response which was hard to pick up because of the polite smile he had on his face. The duos stepped out, their feet clicking with every step they took. "You seem so uninterested". Xander voiced out his observation. Ariel was so uninterested in walking with him, he had gave a not so good first impression of him that she could say lasted longer than expected. "I am, Alpha Damon," she replied even though it was a complete lie. She knew the man before her was smart and he would most definitely know her response was far from the truth but she cared less. "I mean Alpha Xander." she was so disinterested that she couldn't even remember his name at first thought and he chuckled, like full blown chuckle erupted from his belly. If he wasn't such a jerk maybe she would have been friends with him. 'You are only hostile at him because you are thinking of someone else.' A voice said in her head but she shoved it in the deep trench of her mind. While walking around with the Alpha, speaking not too much but enough to show that she was not mute, she felt the presence of Zeres through his addictive scent. He kept his face straight and bowed his head in respect to the both of them. He didn't even spare her a glance which felt too intentional, she swallowed at the sight of him. Alpha Xander noticed the sudden heavy environment at the arrival of the commander, he was a quick person with a sharp ability to denote one's intention. He wondered what was brewing between this two even though the commander paid little to no attention to the girl beside him but she, the girl had her eyes roaming around him which he didn't fail to notice. Xander smirked in excitement, he had an inkling on what was going on but it intrigued him to find out more which he would most definitely doHis face was his usual neutral, controlled mask as he took her in, his eyes lingering for a split second on her shaking hands before coming back to hers. God, she couldn’t do this. This intense eye contact game they played. She just couldn’t do it right now, not with the way she was barely keeping down the scream that had been building in her throat. It wasn’t a scream of fear, or devastation, or desperation. Not even frustration, truly. It was trapped somewhere between them all, bouncing from one to the other while they laughed in her face— she'd been kidnapped and he was here to save her. Zeres was the last person she was expecting but somehow she knew he'd come. And that feeling of knowing he'd come for her— she didn't like it. “Did they hurt you?” The question, in that low, rough tone, caught her off guard. He was angry. Naturally, his face had this controlled and neutral expression but right now there was an edge to it, a murderous glint. And maybe she was hyperventilating
ONE OF THE WORST THINGS ABOUT HAVING A ROUND-THE-CLOCK bodyguard was having them in one's space everytime of the day. Well, it wouldn't be that bad if it was anyone else other than Zeres. Suddenly, he was everywhere within Ariel's space, and it turned out that breathing air was quite taxing when one's mate was close by. A new discovery she had to make was: who knew such a side effect existed, or maybe it was guilt? Now, everywhere she moved, Zeres was right behind her. From spa day to shopping and even the littlest trip in the forest, it all felt strangely domestic in a way it hadn’t felt before with anyone, but today was different. She hadn't seen him throughout breakfast, and it was almost mid-afternoon. It was quite unlike him. Though they hardly said a word to each other after the club incident, he was always almost there. 'Maybe he got fed up with your incensants and thought it wise to leave your cowardly ass alone.' A thought had popped into her head, but she'd shoved it back
“N-nothing.” The asshole said finally catching up with the mess he had landed. That took a while, Zeres had to admit but what was he expecting from a twerp— no— brained asshole anyways. The boys face had reddened with panic just from the little hold of Zeres. Zeres was sure the boy would have peed his pants if he carried out his wolf’s threat..“I don’t think it was nothing.” Zeres uttered tightening his hold on him, and the boy whimpered in pain. “You used a very derogatory word on my lady here, don't you think you need to apologize?.” Another tightening, another whimper. “Or would you prefer we do it my style, hmm?” Zeres didn’t need to spell out what his style was. “I’m sorry,” The boy mumbled begrudgingly to Ariel, who passed a stony look back to him She didn’t respond.“I didn’t hear you, say it like you mean it.” Zeres uttered adding a smile that made him look more unhinged. The smile contained more threat than humour. The boy’s eyes flashed with unmistakable hate, but he wasn’t
Zeres had known. He'd known she would be trouble the minute he'd set his eyes on her and when Alpha Damon had asked for a guard to keep an eye on his daughter and he had opted to do it himself, he knew he was f”cked. Well he wasn't exactly asked, but told, because Alpha Damon dealt in orders, not requests. But Zeres could have easily given the assignment to one of the lesser guards but he had wanted to.Him guarding the daughter of his enemy and the mate who rejected him, when all he wanted was to do was forget she ever existed? Worst idea in the history of bad ideas but he didn't have time for regrets. Then, he’d looked at her beside Alpha Xander and he saw something in her eyes that tugged at him unfortunately. Maybe it was the hint of loneliness or the vulnerability she tried to hide.Whatever it was, it was enough for him to say yes, albeit having vengeance in his mind— what better way to get revenge than punishing her with his proximity. Crazy, how she'd thought rejecting him wa
Just when Ariel was about to open the car door, she realized her hands had brushed against something, Zeres had also made the same attempt and while doing so their hands brushed against each other for a brief moment. There was a sudden surge of electricity within her over the brief contact. She wondered if it was him or static. She retracted her hands back and quickly said."You don't have to open the car door for me, I'm not incapable of doing so myself."Zeres didn't comment, he just blatantly ignored her and she knew it was intentional. "Rude." She muttered underneath her breath and rolled her eyes. For some unknown reason he was undeniably quiet than usual, he couldn't compliment her. Hailey had putting enough efforts in dressing her up for the goddamned club or whatever. Why was she even expecting a compliment from him? She definitely was dumb. The driver rev the car engine ready to start, when Zeres stepped into the car beside her."Wait! Wait! What are you doing?" She shrieked.
"I would excuse you ladies to do your business. Just contact me through the mind link if you need anything, Milady." Said Zeres. "You know you are a weird one right? So now you believe they should be given privacy." Midnight tsked, he couldn't fully understand how the mind of this specie worked. Zeres only rolled his eyes at his supposed wolf and bowed at the two nobles before exiting the room. Midnight wasn't satisfied with Zeres nonchalant attitude towards him."So you are just going to keep ignoring me! I wonder how I ended up with you of all people anyways. The moon goddess tends to be unfair sometimes." He uttered soberly, he was trying to play the sympathy card even though he had known fully well that it won't struck a chord in this nuthead werewolf. "Yes, she's quite unfair for making you a wolf rather than a bird. You are better off as a noise maker, Nightmare." Zeres dull voice responded, his shoes clicking softly on the floor as he walked through the hallway. "For the one
