Chapter 9

"You can leave now." Ariel said to the guard who had escorted her to the doorstep of her room. She slumped on her bed out of tiredness and looked up to the guard who stood rooted in his position at the front door even after she told him to leave. "Uhm, I just said you may take your leave." She repeated.

"I don't think it's the right choice, Lady Ariel." The guard responded, his tone polite. "Forgive me, but the Alpha would have our head rolling on the floor if anything happens to you, our duty is to keep you safe at all point in time."

He definitely had a valid points but she worried that Zeres might be short of guards while fighting the rogues. She could be fine staying on her own. "You don't have to worry about me, I'm sure they wouldn't be need keeping you here, when you could be of more use fighting the rogues." She smiled at the end.
