I stormed back into the company like a hurricane. I didn’t greet the receptionist. I didn’t look at anyone. My heels hit the tiled floor like hammers.

I slammed my office door shut and threw my bag hard on the table. My hands were shaking. My chest was heavy. My heart was racing like it wanted to burst out of me.

That video. That stupid video. It was burning in my head, playing over and over like a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from.

I couldn’t sit. I couldn’t think. I kept pacing around the office, tears silently pouring down my face. My makeup was ruined, but I didn’t care. Nothing mattered. Nothing.

The door flung open, and Tricia rushed in like she already knew something had gone horribly wrong.

“Monalisa!” she gasped.

I didn’t even look at her. I kept walking in circles, wiping tears that wouldn’t stop falling.

She ran to me, grabbed my shoulders and pulled me into a tight hug. I froze for a second before letting it all out. I cried into her neck like a broken child.

“It’s okay, b

  • MOAN For me MONALISA    chapter 125

I woke up the next morning with a strange kind of energy bubbling inside me. I had no idea why I felt so excited, but it was there...like something good was waiting just around the corner. The sun poured into my room, casting soft golden streaks across the bed. I stretched my arms wide, letting out a lazy yawn that made me smile for no reason.Joshua was curled up beside me, completely knocked out. His tiny lips slightly parted, and his breath was slow and peaceful. I smiled again. He looked so content, like the world couldn’t touch him in his sleep. But then a thought crossed my mind.Wait. Why was Joshua still in my room?Shouldn't Donald have come to take him to his own bed last night? And then it clicked.Donald and Tricia.Something had definitely happened between those two last night. I could feel it in my gut.I slid off the bed quickly, careful not to wake Joshua. My feet barely touched the cold tiles as I darted out of my room and headed straight to Tricia's.Empty.Her bed w

  • MOAN For me MONALISA    chapter 124

Tricia took a slow, hesitant step forward, her hands nervously rubbing the back of her neck as if trying to ease the weight of guilt pressing down on her. Her eyes, wide and unsure, followed Donald’s every movement as he turned away and made for the kitchen exit. But before he could disappear, she reached out, almost desperately, and clasped his hand, stopping him in his tracks."I want to say something, please hear me out," she said softly, her voice almost cracking.Donald pulled his hand away, his jaw tight with irritation."I'm not in the mood to listen to your talks. I'm exhausted. It's been a long day. I need to go to bed," he muttered, not even looking at her.Tricia’s heart clenched at his cold tone. Panic bubbled up in her chest as she rushed ahead of him and blocked the doorway with her body, spreading her arms slightly like a barricade. Her voice trembled, but she stood firm."I'm not going to let you leave until you listen to me.""I'm not going to listen, and you can't fo

Tricia folded her arms tightly across her chest, her brows furrowed in burning frustration as she stood facing Donald. The courtyard air suddenly felt heavier, more suffocating with tension than it had been just moments ago.Donald stood still. He stared at us, at me, then back at her. His jaw clenched, his eyes hardened, and he let out a sharp exhale before speaking."I have nothing to say to you," he said coldly."What? Did you hear that? My goodness!" Tricia turned to me in disbelief, her voice rising in outrage.I stepped forward quickly, trying to keep the situation from boiling over. "Tricia, calm down. I trust Donald completely."Tricia snapped her gaze to me, hurt and desperation evident in her eyes. "No. Don't do that. Don't trust him yet, Mona. Please. Just look at the facts. Go ahead, Donald. Tell us. Why do you have two phones?"Donald’s eyes darkened, and his voice came out like ice. "I'm not saying anything. How dare you lay false accusations against me?""False?" Tricia

Tricia took it upon herself to find out the truth. She didn’t tell me a thing. Not a word. But I could feel something was changing in her. She was quieter around Donald. Her eyes would follow him across the room. She’d go silent whenever he entered, and sometimes, she’d excuse herself just to avoid being alone with him.She was suspicious. Dead serious suspicious. She was convinced Donald had something to do with the video and the text I received. She believed he was behind it all.She believed he did it to keep me away from Jayden… so he could have me all to himself. At first, it sounded crazy—even to her—but the more she watched him, the more her gut told her she was right. And when she caught him with a second phone—the one he always made sure to hide when someone walked in her suspicion became rage. But instead of confronting him right away, she watched. She waited. She followed him quietly, tried to find out who he was calling, who he was texting, what he was hiding. She knew it.

I moved the duvet off my body and dragged myself out of bed.For a few seconds, I just sat at the edge of the bed, still and tired. My mind was blank, my body drained. I rubbed my palms together slowly, trying to fix my strength, trying to feel human again.A long breath left my lips. I exhaled as if that would somehow push the sleep out of my bones. It didn’t.I slid my feet into my flip-flops and stood up, yawning as I stepped out of the room. The house was quiet, only faint murmurs of morning activity could be heard. My eyes were still half-closed as I made my way toward the kitchen. The moment I walked in...“Ahhh!!” Tricia let out a scream, jerking back with a hand on her chest.Joshua burst into loud laughter beside her, almost knocking over his cereal bowl.I froze, completely confused.“What’s going on? Why are you screaming and why are you laughing, Joshua?” I asked, frowning.Tricia shot me a dramatic look. “You scared the crap out of me... Goodness! You look like a virgin g

  • MOAN For me MONALISA    chapter 120

It was night. Not just night… but the kind that crawled beneath your skin and whispered things you didn’t want to hear. The kind of night that stared at you with empty eyes, waiting for your heart to finally break.Everything outside was still, too still. No breeze. No distant car sounds. Just thick, deafening silence.Even the birds that chirped earlier, those restless stubborn creatures that usually refused to sleep had gone quiet.Like they knew something I didn’t. Like they knew this night wasn’t like the others.Inside the house, the cold felt alive. It wasn’t just cold, it was hollow.A kind of cold that wrapped around your chest and squeezed without mercy.I could hear it... My breathing. The quiet ache in every inhale. The loud, fast thump of my heart like it was running from something I couldn’t see.And still… I couldn’t sleep.I tossed to one side, pulled the duvet tighter, turned again. It didn’t help. This bed didn’t feel like mine tonight. It felt like a grave.Donald an
