The doctor had departed, and I was still sleeping when I noticed her aroma nearby. I knew that meant she was in my room, and when I opened my eyes, I saw Aria.

“Alpha, how are you feeling?" she asked, but I wasn't willing to respond.

“Please excuse me, Aria, I need time alone," I responded, sitting up.

“OK please let me know if—"

“Aria I need you to leave!" I shouted.

She glanced at me in disbelief, possibly wondering what had happened to me before going away. I was myself. I just didn't want her around, at least not that close.

I promised to keep her safe, but that bastard always finds his way to her in the most unexpected ways. If it had not been for Patricia, I could have lost her forever this time.
