passed out.. blank

EREBUS POV.

Slowly, I glanced down from the window with a heavy heart and confused mind, worried at the gravity of my decisions and the future of my pack. As an alpha, the safety of my pack comes first, but I could not help but think I was letting my emotions get the best of me. The sky had gotten dark out, the clouds had gathered, and thunder struck constantly.

"It's going to rain soon," a voice called as soon as the doors were pushed open.

A smile creeped up the corner of my lips as she walked up to me. Her blue eyes stared into mine as jolts of electricity ran down my spine. While I watched as she bit down on her lips subconsciously as a habit that had formed in her, I gulped hard, trying to take control of myself.

"It is, and I've really got to get going," I answered. She pulled closer to me before reaching for my cheeks, pinching on them slightly before ruffling my hair with her hands.

"Be nice to them; father would have wanted this, you know?" Her words trailed off as she started out of the window. Droplets of rain had begun to fall. I shifted my eyes constantly from her face to her whole body frame. It might register me as some type of pervert, but certainly she was beautiful, and I lowkey cursed the fact that we were family.

She was adopted.

I take a long-lasting glance at her before responding, "Yes, he would have wanted this, and you are the only reason I'm doing this." I answer to her before walking out, not leaving a single space for her words or thoughts.

"Thomas?!" I call out, getting to the door, and he pushes the door open from the other end, giving me access to walk out of the room.

"Remind me again, what's the use of all this?" I ask, the deep hatred resurfacing at the pit of my belly as the bitterness etched behind my throat.

"You need to do this, your highness; it's bad enough that the whole pack feels intimidated by you; just your signature is all that's needed for now; the school will be opening tomorrow, and as the mayor of this town, you are needed to be present in person," Thomas explains, giving me more reason to kick against the idea firmly.

"I swear on my life, Thomas, if anything at all, and I mean by any single harm comes to anyone in my pack, I would not hesitate to kill those filthy humans one after the other by ripping them apart inch by inch." I threaten. I see the look on Thomas's face; he's worried, but then he had served as my beta for twenty-two good years; he knows better by now.

The uneasy look on his face softens gradually into a fickle smile. "It's good enough that you'll be attending the ceremony; they are humans; they don't know much about our existence, and it's good to be hidden that way; the only reason they would not go prying about is if we kept them closer; this way, no one would suspect a thing," Thomas explains, although it seemed more like he was trying to convince himself of a better reason than convince me.

I take a silent pause, stopping in my tracks as I inhale slowly. I loosen my tie slightly before tucking my hands in my pocket. I stared out at the clouds before taking a long sigh. Something seems to be wrong. I hardly get uneasy feelings, but whatever it is today, I can't place a finger on it. Perhaps it has to do with me giving access to the one species I despise the most, even worse than vampires.

"The car is ready; let's get going." Thomas cuts in, his words drawing me out of my thoughts, and yet still the uneasiness remains deep within me.

TRIVIAS POV.

It's been hours since I've been cramped in this bus; I've never travelled through a road as bad as this. It didn't take me long before I fell asleep last night. I recall pleading with Joe to help and getting thrown out of the clubhouse before heading home and slumping into my couch. I had woken up today rather early to have my little pieces of stuff packed in place.

I had not many clothes or shoes; all I travelled down with were two briefcases, my phone, and my laptop; those were my lifesavers, and yes, my pill, which had less than nineteen tablets left.

"Where exactly are we headed?" I ask the man driving the bus, and he doesn't give a response. I check the other few passengers; they all seem to be unaware, and not one of them has made an inquiry about the place, the old folks, or their snoozes. I already feel sick to the pit of my stomach.

Twenty minutes more into the drive, and the bus pulls over.

"The loud lady from the back, here's your stop," the bus driver with zero manners shouts, curious about the town where I'll be staying for six months. I manoeuvre my way gently around the old folks who remain seated comfortably, like they have no care in the world.

I emerged from the bus only to see that he had dropped me off in the middle of nowhere entirely.

"Here's your luggage, and that would be all," he says as she shoves my suitcases at me.

"Pardon?" I ask, calling back for his attention.

"Is there anything else you want from me, young lady? I have other things to do," he answers in a rather nasty and rude manner.

"I told you when I paid for the ticket that I was headed down to the toilet, and of course, you don't need to rub it in my face. I know how terrible it is, but I am in no way expecting it to be in the middle of nowhere." I rant on to the bus driver, who would not give a fuck about it.

"You are going to die, young Miss. You didn't think there would be some fancy park or bus station, did you? The ticket you bought asked me to stop here, and for the sake of humanity, all you have to do is take the right turn down that alley or something. I don't know how far it goes, but stick to your feet. It's almost nighttime. There are histories of wild animals and killings here, you know."

With that last piece of information, he hastens his step towards the bus, and before I get a chance to utter another word, he ignites the engine and drives off, leaving me in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by woods. Thunder strikes, and a flash of lightning accompanies it. Just now, I realise how dark it has quite gotten already. I pull out my phone, but there is no signal in the area.

"Well, this isn't good; I'm completely fucked," I mutter to myself before taking on my feet, grumbling with each passing second. I take on every single curse word with each step I take.

I stop, mindful of my area. I seem to have heard footsteps behind me earlier on. I look around and behind me carefully, but nothing seems to be in sight.

Now I'm crazy?" I yell into thin air, frustrated at how heavy my luggage is. Raindrops fall, and slowly they increase to be harsh and stony. I stop once more in my tracks as I hear a screeching sound along with a burst of laughter. This time it doesn't stop, and just now I recall the last words of the bus driver, the animal attacks, and the killings.

A loud bang goes off, and I feel my heart hammer hard against my chest as I take to my heels, running as fast as I can. My eyes are blurry as the night has come and the rain has blinded me. The fog ahead increases as I run into the alley, not seeing a thing but a thick mist of fog.

I can hear the feet running right behind me. I feel and hear it getting closer. A cold-like substance rubs against my skin, and a hand is placed over my mouth, causing me to stand frozen in place.

Slowly, I shook my head. I could hear my heart beat hard against my ears as I turned slowly, prepared for the worst.
