CHAPTER 58

RUBY’S POV

Once we got into the car, I quietly watched Dax as he searched for fun school rhymes on his phone. Then he had his phone connected through Bluetooth to the car before he turned it on and reversed out of the school parking lot while Sally sang along with the rhyme that played.

I smiled to myself while I looked out the window as he drove but deep inside, dread slowly filled me up. I couldn't bear to think of how much Sally would miss him when he was gone but I knew that with time, she would get over him, she would get used to his absence and forget about him.

We finally got home and Dax parked in his driveway. Then I got out of the car and helped Sally out before she waved at him as we were about to leave.

“Wait. I'm coming with you guys” Dax said and I stopped walking before turning to look at him as I held onto Sally’s hand.
