THE DECEPTION

Selena stirred, slowly awakening from what felt like a deep, unnatural slumber.The scent of the hospital room filled her nose. The soft sound coming from the beeping monitor machine filled her ears. And the dull aching in her head hasn't stopped. She blinked opening her eyes 

She wasn't sure of her surroundings and why she was there, she tried to recall what happened before she got to the hospital.

The only thing she was able to remember was being brought to the hospital by Alexander her boyfriend…Oh No, her fiance.

A small smile threatened to escape her lips...as she remembered, After she shared the news of her pregnancy with him a week ago he immediately proposed to her in the most romantic way she would have ever imagined… to be his wife. But as she looked around that moment he wasn't there with her.

She tried sitting up and the door cracked up as a man in a doctor's uniform and a nose mask came in looking very suspicious but she overlooked his suspicious appearance and asked that her fiance be called.

“Miss Ashford Selena?” The doctor asked as he stepped closer to her bed. She nodded trying to speak again but before she could say anything else he stabbed her with an injection and she collapsed back onto the bed.

Waking up, Selena's mind was fuzzy. She didn't remember what happened before but she found herself inside a car. It looked like her fiance's car.

She gathered herself,  trying to sit up. Her whole body was aching and she felt weak. Her stomach was also in pain. She caressed it gently before  observing her surroundings.

The car was riding through a deserted area. The only thing she could see were trees everywhere. It was an unfamiliar area she lived in the city, so how did she end up there?

Her gaze went from the window to the front seat and she saw a stranger driving the car. It was a middle-aged man she didn't recognize.

“Who are you? Why are you driving this car instead of my driver? Where are we heading?” Selena asked in panic.

“Hah! You are finally awake i was going to make things less painful by letting you sleep, but I guess it can't be helped”

Selena didn't know what he meant by making things less painful. All she knew was she wanted to head back home.

“Take me back home!” She ordered.

“Sorry miss i can't do that!” he might be apologizing but there was no remorse on his face. Instead, he seemed to thrive on her fear. Smiling devilishly.

She tried to recall what happened before. She remembered she fainted, her fiance took her to the hospital, then the doctor!

The man suddenly stabbed her with an injection and she lost consciousness. She had been kidnapped.

Selena quickly grabbed her phone to call Alexander Lancaster, her fiance when the car suddenly took a sharp turn. She stumbled and her phone slipped through her finger. Falling to the ground on the front seat. She lifted her face and saw the driver smirking.

“You're really enjoying this, aren't you?” Selena was starting to get more and more agitated. She was scared and annoyed at the same time. She just wanted to go home. She couldn't do much because of how weak she was.

“Listen, I don't know who you are. Why are you doing this? Who sent you?” She asked.

“Hah! I'm doing this for the money of course, As for the why, I was going to keep a secret for you. But since you ask and since you would be dying soon, I'll tell you” he paused before replying.

“It's your fiance Mr Lancaster who sent me to get rid of you and the little things inside you” Selena couldn't believe it, there was no way the fiance she loved so much would do something so cruel to her. Besides, she was pregnant with his children, he wouldn't have the heart to kill his own children, would he?

“No! My babies?” Selena immediately wrapped her hands around her stomach.

“I don't believe you! Alexander would never do that to me!” she denied.

Yes, Selena thought there was no way he could do something like that.

Their engagement might be sudden, but in her eyes Alexander was a good man. He was willing to take responsibility once he found out about her pregnancy by proposing to her. And he loves her so why would he?

“Doesn't matter if you don't believe me, once this is all over, you'll be dead and I will get paid, It's a win-win situation!” He said before laughing like a the devilhe was.

“No, That's impossible! I still don't believe you tell me the truth!” Selena was starting to lose her temper and the man grabbed his phone.

“Okay you still don't believe me? Fine! I will prove it to you” He showed Alexander's number on his contact list to her.

“See,  i even have his number” He dial-up the number and put the phone on speaker mode.

“Hello Mr Lancaster? It's me, I have kidnapped Selena and on my way to the cliff now”

“Alexander isn't here right now. But good job you will receive the payment once this is all over” To Selena's surprise, it was not his voice it was a ladies voice.
