COLLIN’S POV (continued)

I leaned forward, taking her lips in a soft kiss, I immediately felt a surge of warmth flow through me. But she didn’t let it last. She pulled back, her eyes wide with shock, disbelief etched across her face.

She got up quickly, stepping away from me as she shook her head, her expression a mix of confusion and surprise.

“Wh—why did you kiss me?” she stammered, folding her arms tightly and taking a deep breath, as if trying to steady herself. Shit! I shouldn’t have done that. I just… I couldn’t resist.Even thought I tried so hard to.

“I’m so sorry, Nayla. I got carried away,” I said, standing up to reach for her, but she took more steps backward, her expression wary. She shouldn’t be mad at me. Not when it felt so great. Gosh!

“Y—you didn’t like it?” I asked softly, feeling my heart sink at her reaction.

“You’re my brother’s best friend,” she said, her voice rising slowly, disbelief creeping in.
