The manager’s expression shifted slightly, his eyes widening in shock as he stared at me.

“B… But… You really don’t have to. You can just come back tomorrow. Or you know what?…” he stammered, his voice faltering.

“Mr. Roy!… Mr. Collin!” I and Collin heard someone call to us from behind us.

We both turned to see Luke, our longtime friend and classmate from college, approaching us with a relaxed yet confident smile.

“Wow! Luke! Good to see you,” I said, giving him a warm smile as we both exchanged handshakes, he turned to Collin and they both hugged each other, he was closer to Collin than he was to me.

Once they pulled both broke out of their hug, I stole a glance at Collin, who looked equally surprised as I was, his eyebrows raised in genuine astonishment.

Luke looked really good—different, more put-together than I remembered. The last I heard, he had been in rehab for drug addiction. Seeing him here, vibrant and healthy, brought a sense of relief.

“What are you both doing here?”
