It was finally my 18th birthday. I spent ten years of my life living with the rogues after fleeing from my Pack. Every year, I always celebrated the day I exited from my father's pack.
"You are going to find joy one day," my roommate and best friend, Maria, had once said. We were done with our first year in university, where our friendship began, and we were currently working in the modeling industry. Getting up from the bed, I let out a sigh and looked around. "Happy birthday," I heard and turned to see Maria and some ladies. "Thank you," With a smile on her face, Maria dropped a cake on the table beside me. "Let's sing for our dear Susan," she made me hold the knife, and they sang. They fed me to the point that I almost choked. "Take it easy." They also ate from the cake, and left, leaving me with Maria, who pulled me into a hug. "I got a gift for you," I was excited to see the type of gift that she brought. It was my favorite: a strawberry shortcake and a pink wristwatch. "Have you heard from Allison?" "Do I need to hear from her?" Maria pouted. "You are her friend." I smiled shaking my head as I watched her walk away. "My life has been going great nowadays," I said and Maria turned to look at me. "Have you ever thought of visiting your father's pack?" "No, I haven't," I said then smiled. "I left the pack as a young girl with no intention of going back." "You were sent away by your father," This made me emotional and I looked at my finger. As a young girl, I faced one of the cruelties life brings. I was sent from the pack by my father. "Let's discuss another thing," Maria said, noticing the change in my face. "Thank you," She sat on her bed, adjusted her position, and looked into my eyes. "Have you found your mate?" I rolled my eyes remembering how joyful she was last year when she found her mate. "Yes," I said. "He is someone whom I have always adored since I was young." I knew she had more questions to ask. "My younger sister also adored him," My gaze was fixed on my finger as I thought about my younger sister. "She wouldn't have died if I hadn't left her," Maria walked to my bed and touched my hair. "What if she is still alive?" I shot Maria a glance, and she slowly moved back. "I mean... since you didn't see her fall into the water," Maria said. "Don't you think she is alive?" "We buried her," "Then why did Alpha Damon send you away?" "He thought I murdered his favorite daughter," Maria chose not to say anything about it again and wore a smile on her face. "You should prepare yourself to go to the industry," Maria said. I had almost forgotten that we had to do a photoshoot. "I would get ready," I said, and left to take my bath then got dressed in a fluffy gown. "Let me do your makeup," Maria made me sit in front of the mirror and did a little makeup for me. The main makeup would be done in the industry by the makeup artist. "You saw your wolf last year," Maria said. "It radiates just like your skin." "I need to keep it from everyone," She nodded her head and asked me what I would do if my mate wanted me to leave the pack. "I would visit," I said. "He should be an Alpha currently." I learnt about Jason's father's death, and this made me sad. Getting into the industry, I could see people rushing their work. "What is wrong?" I asked the receptionist. "We heard that Alpha Jason would be coming here," "Why?" "I only heard that he is searching for his mate," I felt tense and looked at Maria. Why should he look for me now? I wasn't done with my education. Without a word, I left with Maria, and we separated. I went to meet my makeup artist who drew my eyebrows. "You look beautiful," she said when she was done. "Mr. Marcus is going to like your picture." I wore a smile as I got up and stepped out majestically when something fell to the ground. "What's that?" I asked, and Maria walked to me jumping. "I can't wait to see Alpha Jason," "You should calm down," I said. "Who knows if he is going to reject his mate?" The word Maria told me in the morning came to hunt me, and I couldn't help but shake off the feeling. What if Jason also believes that I murdered my sister? I walked to take my photoshoot for a cover that Mr. Marcus was going to use for his studio. "That's all for today," the photographer said. "These pictures are beautiful." "Can you send the pictures to me through Messenger?" "I will do that," she said, and I majestically walked to the waiting room as I had to see my boss. While waiting, I overheard some ladies speaking about Alpha Jason. "Susan Dream," my boss called, and I walked into his office. I changed my surname since I left my pack at a young age, and only my foster parents and my best friend knew who I was. "You may leave," he said after taking down my signature while Maria walked to me. "Let's relax a bit," We found a place to relax with a candy each in our hands. "Let's enjoy the moment," Maria said and we laughed. Our joyful moment was disturbed by a loud sound, and I looked at Maria. The sound was only played whenever an important person was coming inside. "Alpha Jason," I heard people say, and closed my eyes. "Don't be worried, Susan," Maria said pulling me into a hug. "Susan, the boss wants to see you," I walked in and saw Jason who introduced me as his mate. "I would like to take my leave with my mate," People stared at us as we walked away. "Susan is my mate, and I will be taking her to my pack,""You are handsome," I said giving Marcus a peck then my eyes trailed to his outfit, and a smile forced it way out of my mouth. The outfit made him look like an unmarked young man. We walked into the building, and as many who saw us stared on. I knew some of them didn't believe that we were the one while some were amazed seeing us dressed like that. Abigail walked to us, and was about to speak when she looked at me again. "Susan," she called with a shocking expression. "Luna Susan." As many who were close to us stopped dancing, and I looked at her. "You shouldn't worry," I said. "We didn't come here to exact authority." Looking at the people who stared at us, I told them that we came to enjoy the party. Everyone began to dance. My gaze travelled to a far corner when I was dancing with Marcus. A lady sat there drinking herself to stupor, and I wondered why. Taking a closer look, I saw that she resembled Sarah. "Why are you distracted?" I heard Marcus ask, and looked at him.
We spoke about the new born, and what was to be done for him as he was the Beta's son. "What name would you like to give your son?" Collins uncle asked, and he smiled. "Ethan," he said and I smiled thinking that it was a good name until Sonia spoke with her little voice. "Robin," she said and I reprimanded her in my heart saying that he wasn't Robin. "Alright," Collins said smiling as he looked at Sonia. "We would call him Ethan, but you can call him, Robin." This made her happy, and I shook my head. The meeting was brief, but cool. The baby was too small for a werewolf pup as he wasn't born at the right time so we did like I did to Sonia when she was born. Remembering what Michelle said to me when Ethan was born, I hugged her. "Thank you for staying alive," I said, and she smiled. "Thank you for your prayers," she said touching my cheek, and when she stretched her hand to me asking if we were friends, but I shook my head, and this changed her mood until I laughed. "I see
"Where is my wife?" He asked, and before we could respond, Sonia walked to him. He carried her on his lap and I was about to stop her from sitting on his lap when Marcus stopped me. "Allow him," Marcus said to me. Collins asked about his wife again, and Sonia pointed to the room. Once again, we heard Michelle scream. "What's wrong with her?" Collins asked panicking, and Marcus told his friend to relax. "She's in labour," he said and explained everything to Collins who showed his understanding. A smile formed on his face. Some minutes later, he requested if he could meet his mate, and Marcus shook his head. However, due to his plea, Marcus knocked on the door. "Let him in," the doctor said and Collins walked in with Sonia. We stayed out of the room, and hoped for Michelle's safe delivery. Minutes later, we heard the sound of a baby from within, and smiled. The door opened, and the nurse came out with a wrapped baby. An Omega who stood nearby walked the nurse to a bathroom.
I had told her to also live for her brother, but why was she seeing him when he never saw this world? "Robin," I called the name again, and she giggled. A thought crossed my mind and I decided to relax. There is a saying that babies always see imaginary things so I was sure that was what she was seeing. After reading a story to her, she fell asleep, and I got up to leave the room, but she held my hand. "Mother, don't leave," she said. "Robin wants you to stay with us for a while." This brought tears to my eyes that I didn't know when Marcus walked in until he placed his hand on my hair. By that time, Sonia was asleep so I hugged Marcus. "You look emotional," he said touching my hair as I hugged him. "Can you let me know?" I nodded and held his hand before telling him what Sonia said. "I would have named our son, Robin," Marcus said leaving me stunned. Could she be seeing her brother? I shook my head at my thought. It couldn't be. Marcus touched Sonia's hair, and gave her a
Done with my examination, I walked out as I wanted to go to the place I always met with Abigail. While walking, I was stopped by some men I had not seen before. It looked like they wanted to fight with me, but why? We weren't on the training ground, and Marcus had stopped me from training in the university. I only trained with him. "What do you want?" I asked, and they smiled. "We no longer respect you, Luna," they said, and when I asked for their reason, the young man who spoke with me before the commencement of the examination appeared. "What should we learn from you?" He asked. "You are a cheat." I stared at him as I couldn't understand what he meant until he said that I sat for someone. "You aren't meant to be here as a Luna," he said and made a sign to a man who bent, and was about to pick a stone when we heard, "Do not try that." "Alpha!" I called, and looked at the men who froze. Marcus appeared in front of the young man who spoke last, and threw him on the ground maki
Weeks later, I sat with Abigail as we studied our different books. My phone rang interrupting the peaceful moment, and this made Abigail look at me. I took an excuse before leaving to pick the call. It was a call from Nathan, and I wondered if something important had come up, as I had told him the time he should come to pick me up. "Hello, Nathan," I said immediately I answered the call. "Why did you call?" I could feel him hesitate, and this made me worried as I thought about Marcus. Was he in danger? Was Sonia in danger? "Alpha Marcus advised that you shouldn't come home today," he said after much hesitation making me nervous. I had a lot that I wanted to ask based on what he said, but before I could speak, he had already ended the call. "What's wrong?" Abigail asked, and I told her what Nathan told me. This made her smile and she hugged me. "You are going to spend the night in my room," she said, blushing like a child, while I shook my head. Noticing my expression, she as
