It was finally my 18th birthday. I spent ten years of my life living with the rogues after fleeing from my Pack. Every year, I always celebrated the day I exited from my father's pack.
"You are going to find joy one day," my roommate and best friend, Maria, had once said. We were done with our first year in university, where our friendship began, and we were currently working in the modeling industry. Getting up from the bed, I let out a sigh and looked around. "Happy birthday," I heard and turned to see Maria and some ladies. "Thank you," With a smile on her face, Maria dropped a cake on the table beside me. "Let's sing for our dear Susan," she made me hold the knife, and they sang. They fed me to the point that I almost choked. "Take it easy." They also ate from the cake, and left, leaving me with Maria, who pulled me into a hug. "I got a gift for you," I was excited to see the type of gift that she brought. It was my favorite: a strawberry shortcake and a pink wristwatch. "Have you heard from Allison?" "Do I need to hear from her?" Maria pouted. "You are her friend." I smiled shaking my head as I watched her walk away. "My life has been going great nowadays," I said and Maria turned to look at me. "Have you ever thought of visiting your father's pack?" "No, I haven't," I said then smiled. "I left the pack as a young girl with no intention of going back." "You were sent away by your father," This made me emotional and I looked at my finger. As a young girl, I faced one of the cruelties life brings. I was sent from the pack by my father. "Let's discuss another thing," Maria said, noticing the change in my face. "Thank you," She sat on her bed, adjusted her position, and looked into my eyes. "Have you found your mate?" I rolled my eyes remembering how joyful she was last year when she found her mate. "Yes," I said. "He is someone whom I have always adored since I was young." I knew she had more questions to ask. "My younger sister also adored him," My gaze was fixed on my finger as I thought about my younger sister. "She wouldn't have died if I hadn't left her," Maria walked to my bed and touched my hair. "What if she is still alive?" I shot Maria a glance, and she slowly moved back. "I mean... since you didn't see her fall into the water," Maria said. "Don't you think she is alive?" "We buried her," "Then why did Alpha Damon send you away?" "He thought I murdered his favorite daughter," Maria chose not to say anything about it again and wore a smile on her face. "You should prepare yourself to go to the industry," Maria said. I had almost forgotten that we had to do a photoshoot. "I would get ready," I said, and left to take my bath then got dressed in a fluffy gown. "Let me do your makeup," Maria made me sit in front of the mirror and did a little makeup for me. The main makeup would be done in the industry by the makeup artist. "You saw your wolf last year," Maria said. "It radiates just like your skin." "I need to keep it from everyone," She nodded her head and asked me what I would do if my mate wanted me to leave the pack. "I would visit," I said. "He should be an Alpha currently." I learnt about Jason's father's death, and this made me sad. Getting into the industry, I could see people rushing their work. "What is wrong?" I asked the receptionist. "We heard that Alpha Jason would be coming here," "Why?" "I only heard that he is searching for his mate," I felt tense and looked at Maria. Why should he look for me now? I wasn't done with my education. Without a word, I left with Maria, and we separated. I went to meet my makeup artist who drew my eyebrows. "You look beautiful," she said when she was done. "Mr. Marcus is going to like your picture." I wore a smile as I got up and stepped out majestically when something fell to the ground. "What's that?" I asked, and Maria walked to me jumping. "I can't wait to see Alpha Jason," "You should calm down," I said. "Who knows if he is going to reject his mate?" The word Maria told me in the morning came to hunt me, and I couldn't help but shake off the feeling. What if Jason also believes that I murdered my sister? I walked to take my photoshoot for a cover that Mr. Marcus was going to use for his studio. "That's all for today," the photographer said. "These pictures are beautiful." "Can you send the pictures to me through Messenger?" "I will do that," she said, and I majestically walked to the waiting room as I had to see my boss. While waiting, I overheard some ladies speaking about Alpha Jason. "Susan Dream," my boss called, and I walked into his office. I changed my surname since I left my pack at a young age, and only my foster parents and my best friend knew who I was. "You may leave," he said after taking down my signature while Maria walked to me. "Let's relax a bit," We found a place to relax with a candy each in our hands. "Let's enjoy the moment," Maria said and we laughed. Our joyful moment was disturbed by a loud sound, and I looked at Maria. The sound was only played whenever an important person was coming inside. "Alpha Jason," I heard people say, and closed my eyes. "Don't be worried, Susan," Maria said pulling me into a hug. "Susan, the boss wants to see you," I walked in and saw Jason who introduced me as his mate. "I would like to take my leave with my mate," People stared at us as we walked away. "Susan is my mate, and I will be taking her to my pack,"After resting for a while, he decided to go out, and I held him back when I remembered Sarah. "Have you released Sarah?" He sighed and shook his head. "I planned on releasing her after I find you," I nodded and watched as he took out his phone, dialed a number, and told the person on the other end to release the lady they were holding captive. "Do not disclose my identity to her," he said. "Return to your pack after that." I opened my mouth as I heard the last words he said. He employed people who were not from both our packs to do the job. It can only mean that he didn't want them to be traced. "What are you thinking about?" I told him my thoughts, and he smiled. "It's that simple," he said. "I want no one to trace them." "What if Sarah gets to see their faces?" "Do you think they are stupid?" According to his explanation, Sarah's face was going to be covered with a sack. "She won't see them," It was perfectly planned as all Sarah saw them wear was fake. "I like that,
I felt happy hearing the first name that was called. It wasn't that I was happy that someone was called, but I was glad that I wasn't called. The second person was called, and it still wasn't me, making me happy, but when the third number was called, I didn't understand if it was really me. "Come out," I didn't want to agree with him, but thinking about Madam Owen made me move forward. The moments I had spent with Marcus replayed in my mind. "Where are you, Marcus?" I asked no one as I remembered the vows we took. Was it over between us? "Who will like number four?" Two men raised their hands, and the man who was the boss told them that they would need to compete for her. While the men competed, he moved to the next lady. Two men also raised their hands and were made to compete. My heart raced as he pointed to me, and asked who wanted me. To my surprise, only a man raised his hand. He was wearing a sunshade and dressed in a ruffian attire. My eyes blurred as I looked at Madam O
It's been two days since we've been away from the Elite pack. I sat with Madam Owen as we reflected on the last two days. "I believe we would get out of this place," Madam Owen said. "I wonder what Marcus is doing," If we were to stay for many days here, we would no longer be able to use our power even when we get out of this place. "Mother, how do you think Marcus is going to get to us since we didn't leave any clues behind?" She smiled and held my chin. "He is an Alpha," I nodded and told her that I was happy that we had seen her driver. The day before, we were sent to perform a task, and we saw the driver. "Let's rest," she said, and I laid my head. There was a knock on the door then it was pushed open. "What just happened?" I felt sad thinking about what happened. A man walked up to us, and I asked him what he would have done if we were naked. "That's none of my business," "It may not be, but..." Madam Owen held my hand and told me not to speak like that. I knew t
Opening my eyes, everywhere was blurry and I was on a bench. Trying to think of the place I was, I remembered what happened on our way to the industry. The door flew open and I saw Madam Owen walk in. She was dressed in a widow's garment. "Where are we?" "I really don't know," she said and touched my forehead. "You have a high fever." "Mother, do you remember how we got here?" She sighed and nodded her head. "We were knocked out," I tightly closed my eyes as I held Madam Owen's hand. "What are you trying to do?" "Trying to communicate with Marcus," She tapped my head making me open my eyes, but before she could speak, the door was pushed open. "You should be hungry," a man said walking to us. I asked if we could see the driver, and he laughed saying that ladies weren't allowed to see men. "Why did you dress my mother in a widow's garment?" Madam Owen held me back and explained that she told him that she was a widow. "But you aren't a widow," I shook my head and move
His phone rang and he pulled me closer. He switched to a video call, and I could see Sarah. "You can release her tomorrow morning," "Yes, boss," I turned to look at him. They called him boss. Does he run an illegal practice? "Don't look at me like that," he said. "I am not their boss, but since I gave them a task to do, they can call me boss." I didn't say anything but watched as he stood. Three days later, I sat in the living room thinking of all that had taken place over the past few days. I got to know that Marcus could be ruthless, but he hadn't done anything apart from loving me. "Susan!" I heard someone call my name. The voice was so familiar and it was a voice that I loved to hear. "Mother," I hugged Madam Owen and looked around to see if anyone was nearby. "What were you doing before I came in?" She asked picking the thing I was doing. "Trying to knit a coat for a child," She nodded her head and asked where her son was. "He is in the industry," I said with a smi
Getting to the pack, I looked around and memories of my younger days clouded my mind. "This place hasn't really changed," I said and Marcus held my hand. "It has only been ten years," Thinking about the day I left the pack I noticed that it was exactly the tenth year. "I should celebrate the day I left this pack," "Why is that?" I told him what I was thinking about and he smiled. "You are returning to this pack ten years later," I nodded and told him that I won't want to show my face. "None of us here are showing our face today," he said and I frowned. "Unless I have a change of mind." As the car kept moving, I smiled looking at some places that I could remember. Soon we arrived at the pack house but none of us came out of the car. I saw a lady walk out of the house and immediately recognised her. She now looked older than when I last met her. She looked at the car and immediately ran into the house. Soon, three people came out, and Alpha Damon stood behind them. "Do you
