Camilla.

The ringing in my ears was deafening, a sharp, high-pitched whine that drowned out the throbbing pain in my face. I remained curled on the cold marble, my arms locked tightly around my abdomen, praying that the tiny, fragile heartbeat inside me was still safe.

Before the shock of Ragnar’s slap could even settle, a shadow suddenly blurred across my vision.

A loud voice echoed. “How dare you?”

It was Cassian and he instantly moved like a lethal storm.

There was no hesitation in his movements, no warning, and barely even a moment for anyone to comprehend what he was about to do.

He cleared the remaining stairs in a single powerful leap, his body moving with such terrifying speed that the force of his descent seemed to cut through the air with a sharp, frightening whistle.

Before Ragnar could even register the approaching threat, Cassian closed the remaining distance between them, and he drove his fist forward.

It connected directly with Ragnar’s jaw with brutal, solid force.

CRACK!

The sound exploded through the vaulted foyer, sharp and sickening against the surrounding silence.

Ragnar’s head snapped violently to the side from the impact. His entire body lurched backward, his feet struggling to find their balance as the force of the punch sent him stumbling several feet across the floor.

He couldn't stop himself, as his back slammed heavily against a massive oak display table with a loud, jarring thud.

The impact rattled the furniture, and the crystal vases resting upon it toppled almost immediately. They crashed onto the floor one after another, their delicate surfaces shattering into countless glittering fragments that scattered across the polished ground.

Blood instantly erupted from Ragnar’s split lip— a thin line appeared first before quickly staining his chin, the bright red contrast startling against his skin.

For a moment, Ragnar didn't move, as he stared at Cassian in shock, and absolute, stunned disbelief filled his face as though his mind was struggling to process what had just happened.

Slowly, almost mechanically, he lifted one hand and pressed it against his bleeding mouth, and his fingertips came away stained red while his storm-gray eyes widened.

He was the Alpha King, no one had ever dared to hit him.

Yet here he was, standing stunned and bleeding after being struck by his Cassian.

Cassian didn't even pause to watch Ragnar bleed. He dropped to his knees beside me, his large, warm hands gently sliding under my neck and beneath my knees.

The suffocating, terrifying pressure of his anger vanished the second his touch met my skin, replaced by an infinitely soft, protective warmth.

"I've got you," Cassian murmured, his deep voice thick with an intensity that made my heart hammer. "I'm holding you, Camilla." He added reassuringly.

He lifted me into his arms effortlessly, pulling my bruised body against his broad chest. I instinctively buried my face into the crook of his neck, clinging to his shirt as a ragged breath escaped my lips.

Cassian stood up, cradling me securely against his heart, and turned to face my ex-husband. His golden eyes burned with an ancient, predatory rage that made the very air in the hall grow cold.

Ragnar pushed himself away from the broken table, wiping the blood from his mouth with the back of his hand, his chest heaving with fury. "Cassian...you dare lay a hand on your King?"

"I laid a hand on a coward," Cassian spat, his voice dropping into a lethal, venomous register. He held me tighter, looking down at Ragnar with pure, unadulterated disgust. "Look at you, Ragnar. Look at what you’ve become. You stand there in your tailored suit, wearing a crown you don't deserve, beating a woman who gave you three years of her absolute, silent devotion."

Ragnar’s jaw tightened, his gray eyes flashing red. "She tried to kill Pamela! She—"

"She loved you!" Cassian roared, his voice booming through the hall like thunder, cutting Ragnar off instantly. "She gave you her entire heart, you arrogant fool! While you were chasing after a snake and dreaming of another woman, Camilla stood by your side. She endured your coldness, your neglect, and your cruelty, yet she still prayed for a single warm look from you. She loved a man who didn't exist."

The words hung in the air, heavy and sharp as daggers.

For a fraction of a second, something cracked in Ragnar’s eyes. A flicker of raw, uncomfortable emotion crossed his face as Cassian’s words pierced through his blind rage. He looked at me—nested safely in Cassian’s arms, hiding my face against his brother’s chest—and his lips parted slightly, unable to find a quick rebuttal.

"And how did you reward her?" Cassian continued, stepping forward, his eyes locking onto Ragnar’s with ruthless satisfaction. "You threw divorce papers at her battered body while she was still bleeding from a crash.” He paused. “You struck her face because your pathetic ego couldn't handle the truth."

Cassian shifted me slightly in his arms, turning his body so that I was completely shielded from Ragnar, leaning his head down so his dark hair brushed against mine. He raised his voice, his baritone echoing with a solemn, binding weight that made the pack magic in the room hum.

"Now I need you to know something!” He said, his voice carrying a clear warning. “From this moment onward, Camilla is under my absolute sanctuary," Cassian announced, his golden eyes locking onto Ragnar with a dark, triumphant smirk. "She belongs to me now, her body, her protection, her honor, her future—they are all mine to guard.” He paused , and a sly smirk spread across his face. “You threw her away, brother and I am taking what you were too blind to keep."

Ragnar’s eyes widened in sheer, horror-stricken shock. The blood drained from his face, replaced by a dark, volatile fury. He took a frantic step forward, his Alpha aura flaring out in a desperate attempt to assert dominance.

"Don't be commencement-level foolish... don't be shameless, Cassian," Ragnar snarled, his voice trembling with a mixture of rage and disbelief, as he paused, his chest heaving as he pointed a trembling, blood-stained finger at us. "The divorce paper isn't officially finalized.” His smile deepened. “Camilla is still my wife!”

  • MY EX ALPHA HUSBAND REGRET   26. Just go to sleep.

Ragnar.I turned my back on Pamela, pacing heavy-footed toward the tall arched window at the far end of the bedchamber. I reached out, grabbing the edge of the heavy wooden sill and gripping it until my knuckles turned stark white under the pale moonlight. I stared out into the dark, boundless night, my chest rising and falling violently as I tried to regain control of my own heart. The rapid thudding in my ribs echoed like war drums in my ears, mocking the supreme composure I was supposed to embody as Alpha King."Ragnar... please tell me what's wrong," Pamela whimpered behind me, her tone cautious, hesitant, and utterly terrified of setting off another burst of explosive anger. "You're…. I really don't know what to call it, but did something happen?" She paused, the quiet rustle of her towel filling the silence as she took a small, uncertain breath. “Is anything wrong?""Nothing is wrong," I growled out, forcing my voice to flatten into an icy wall, though my chest was still burnin

  • MY EX ALPHA HUSBAND REGRET   25. All I SEE IS HER!

Ragnar. The heavy, carved oak door of my master bedroom was locked, keeping the rest of the world and its mounting chaotic demands outside.I sat back in the deep leather armchair near the window, the soft light of the bedside lamp casting long shadows across the room. I held a heavy crystal tumbler in my right hand, swirling the amber whiskey slowly. The ice cubes clinked softly against the glass, a rhythmic, rhythmic sound that did very little to quiet the roaring storm inside my chest. I took a deep, heavy gulp, feeling the sharp burn slide down my throat, but the alcohol failed to numb the tension thrumming through my veins. The bathroom door opened with a soft click, releasing a cloud of warm, lavender-scented steam into the bedroom.Pamela stepped out, her damp hair falling loosely over her shoulders, a plush white towel wrapped snugly around her chest, securing just above her bust. She paused in the doorway, biting her lower lip nervously as she looked over at me, her cheeks sl

CamillaThe heavy wooden doors remained firmly shut, keeping the stone corridor quiet, but the low, calm voice coming through the phone's speaker felt like a ghost breaking through from another life entirely."Speak," the voice said, sharp and guarded.I swallowed the lump in my throat, holding the encrypted phone tighter against my ear. "It's Camilla," I whispered, my voice firm despite the rapid pounding of my heart. A sudden, sharp gasp cut through the static on the line."Camilla?!"Martins’ voice instantly lost its calm, professional edge, cracking with pure, unadulterated shock. I could hear the rustle of papers on his end, followed by the heavy thud of a chair scraping back against a floor as he stood up in disbelief."Is that really you?" Martins demanded, his breathing suddenly shallow and fast. "Camilla, where are you right now? Are you okay? Tell me you're not still in that monster's castle!"Hearing his voice after three whole years sent a sharp wave of nostalgia hitting

Camilla. The heavy wooden doors clicked shut, and the soft, rhythmic echo of Cassian’s heavy boots gradually faded down the long stone corridor. The moment I was truly alone, the cold air rushed back into my lungs. I collapsed deeper into the plush leather armchair, letting out a long, shuddering sigh of pure, unfiltered relief. My entire body unspooled, the unbearable tension that had locked my shoulders high since the Council session evaporating into the quiet warmth of the lounge. He hadn't pushed. Cassian had seen the sheer panic in my eyes, felt the trembling in my hands, and instead of backing me into a corner like Ragnar always did, he had gracefully offered me an exit. He had swallowed his own dark suspicions, given me room to breathe, and walked away without demanding a single piece of my soul in return.I set the steaming porcelain teacup on the small side table, my fingers still faintly shaking.Slowly, deliberately, I brought both palms down to rest flat against my lower a

Cassain. The room was so quiet I could hear the faint, steady cadence of her breathing. She sat nestled in the deep leather armchair, her small frame looking almost delicate against the dark leather, but her posture still carrying that quiet, stubborn resilience I had come to admire. My palm was resting flat against hers, feeling the subtle tremor in her fingers, covering the small hand she had so instinctively pressed against her abdomen just moments ago.I kept my eyes fixed on her face, searching her features in the soft light of the lounge.I was waiting. Patiently, steadily, giving her every second she needed to speak. The air between us was thick with a truth hanging by a thread, a revelation sitting right on the tip of her tongue. I could see the conflict raging behind her dark eyes—the hesitation, the sudden flicker of fear, the protective wall she had built over three grueling years with Ragnar trying to pull itself back up.She opened her mouth slightly, her throat working a

Ragnar. The grand doors of the royal estate slammed shut with a thunderous crack that shook the stained-glass windows of the entry hall.I tore my heavy velvet cloak off my shoulders and hurled it across the room. It struck a stone pillar and crumpled onto the polished floor. My chest heaved, my breath coming in jagged, burning gasps as the white-hot rage that had been boiling inside me since the Council chamber finally erupted."Ragnar... please, slow down!" Pamela whimpered behind me, her voice trembling as she scurried into the foyer. She was still clutching her swollen cheek, her eyes wide with frantic, needy tears. "My face hurts so much... Cassian hit me, Ragnar! He struck your future Luna in front of everyone! You have to punish him! You have to—""Shut up, Pamela!" I roared, turning on her with a glare so lethal she instantly recoiled, her words dying in her throat. My Alpha aura flared violently, heavy and suffocating, flooding the hall with a pressure so intense that two gua
