NATHALIE’S POV-Roused from my slumber, I checked the time on my phone. A mere fifteen minutes had passed since Sir Calix and I had settled into bed, following our intimate moments in the walk-in closet.I lifted my shirt to check the kisses he had made and as expected he left many kiss marks on my body. Definitely got some on my neck, I’m sure. His kisses earlier had been so aggressive; I wondered if it was because my moans fueled his passion, or was there some other reason entirely? He took off his pajama pants along with his briefs and almost forced himself on me, even though I told him I wasn’t in the mood. He nearly didn’t stop until I raised my voice. After I raised my voice, he seemed to snap out of it, startled both by my outburst and his own actions. He offered a single apology before allowing me to dress, and then we lay down together in bed.I wasn’t angry at what he did, I was just surprised. But I understood he had needs and from the beginning I couldn’t give that to him
NATHALIE’S POV-“Nathalie?” Chloe asked me with a worried look. After a few minutes of silence and thinking, I answered her question with, “No. I won’t tell Sir Calix. If my child’s father doesn’t know about her, doesn’t it seem unfair to Harrison if Sir Calix knows and he doesn’t? And besides, Sir Calix doesn’t really need to know because there’s nothing between Harrison and me?”“There’s no right or wrong in your decision, the important thing is you don’t fool my friends. I’ll take you to his mansion, maybe he’s worried about you.” Her voice tried to be cheerful.I smiled sparingly. She started the car again.During the trip, I was still thinking about whether to tell Sir Calix or not.The last person I wanted to cross paths with was my child’s father, yet I was wondering if I should tell Sir Calix what I found out even though he had nothing to do about thisThere was still a big part of my heart that urged me to tell him about this matter.“Nathalie...”“What?!” I shrieked in surp
NATHALIE’S POV-Chloe pulled the car over to the side of the road and asked in a shrill voice, “What did you say?! You’re pregnant?! Harrison got you pregnant?! How did that happen—are you two betraying Calix?!”I could only stare at my hand on my lap, shaking with a blend of fear and elation. Fear was dominant in me.“Nathalie! Do you have a child with Harrison?”I shook my head.“Then what?! I heard it clearly. You technically said you have a child with him!”I turned to Chloe. She was furious at any moment and was ready to slap me for her friends. It was meant to remain unspoken, but my tumultuous feelings caused me to inadvertently speak my thoughts.“I don’t know... If only I had shown myself to him then, if I had made myself known to him then. Maybe my child—our child—would still be living.”Gradually, her face softened. “What do you mean?” she asked, confused. “Your child died?” Her voice was filled with disbelief and pity.I responded with a nod of my head.“I’m sorry to ask
NATHALIE’S POV-He took off his white coat, set it on the table, and then gathered up all the paper bags again.I put the paper bag containing the teddy bear on the couch and then followed him to the kitchen.“I’m going to take a shower first. Can you handle being alone here?”“Yes. I can handle it.”“Okay then… feel at home. You can do whatever you want here.”I found myself laughing at what he said. After he left the kitchen, I began preparing the ingredients, and then I started cooking. It took me a full hour to cook, and the moment the soup was ready, I served Harrison his portion to keep the pasta shells perfect. No sooner had I set the soup on the table than I heard his rapid footsteps thundering down the stairs.Entering the living room, I was shocked by what I saw.He stood with his back to me, the muscles of his back visible, with nothing on but a towel low on his waist. My breath caught in my throat. As he pulled his phone from his coat pocket, he turned, as if only then rea
NATHALIE’S POV-“I’ll just call Sir Calix.” I told Esther.“Okay, you take care of it.”I’m on my way to Harrison’s apartment now. I didn’t get a chance to tell Sir Calix about it because I was swamped with things to do and completely exhausted last night, physically drained from playing all day.I adjusted my height to be equal to Brianna’s, who was beside Esther. “Baby, I’ll just leave for a moment. I’ll be right back. I’ll just get something from your godfather Harrison. I’ll leave you with Esther and the others here. Is that okay with you?”Hwr response was a smiling nod accompanied by two thumbs up.Donna clapped her hands in joy when she saw Brianna’s answer. Donna told me she actually loves kids and has always wanted to play with Brianna, but she couldn’t because of Brianna’s situation.I can’t take Brianna with me this time, William wasn’t available to drive us. If I let her ride the public bus, she might be scared of the crowds.“Alright, I’m heading out! Bye-bye everyone!” I
NATHALIE’S POV-As the night came, Brianna and I were equally weary..We played touch football until Mr. Calix arrived. If he hadn’t come, we wouldn’t have noticed the time. That explains it; Brianna was completely zonked out and fast asleep as I emerged out of the bathroom. She’s in her dad’s room again. We were going to play Snakes and Ladders, but it looks like that’s not happening. She’s sound asleep, snuggled against Mr. Calix’s arm. When Sir Calix saw me approaching them he gently removed his daughter’s hug and replaced it with a pillow. He kissed Brianna’s forehead which I also followed with a kiss on her cheek.“She fell asleep as soon as you went to the bathroom,” Mr. Calix said gently, moving carefully as he placed pillows around Brianna.I nodded, understanding the exhaustion she must feel. If she got so tired from just playing, what more for me who’s older than her by many years?“I’ve never seen her play like that before,” Mr. Calix remarked, finishing what he was doing.
