JOCELYN’s POV

“What’s the update on the investigation?” Daniel asked, but like I’d done since I’d survived getting into the car, my eyes remained closed, and I didn’t respond. Not intentionally though, my mind wasn’t on him and so, the question wasn’t even registering in my head. To say I was in a bad mood would be an understatement. Throughout, the day, my face had been in a permanent scowl as I’d thought and thought of ways to save myself. I could envision my happiness being ruined on the day of the show by an article, and the worst part of it was, it made perfect sense.

We had just about three weeks to the show and advertisement was set to start that week, meaning both the company name and mine wouldn’t be leaving the minds of people. And I was well aware, the best way to make money was by talking about other people. The only thing that was going to save me was someone more influential doing something even crazier.

Had the car stopped moving? I opened my eyes to see that, indeed, w

  • MY EX WANTS ME BACK? NOT A CHANCE!   CHAPTER 23

JOCELYN’s POVI opened the door beside my room and got inside, seeing Daniel had been right. It looked very similar to mine except the fact that it was a little smaller, it was also painted in the same black. What exactly had the interior decorator been thinking? I went towards the window, admiring the night view and thinking.I didn’t know how long I was going to stay here, but that decision wasn’t going to affect the studio. Even if I only ended up staying for a month, I needed to have a complete studio, basically my dream studio. I went out of the room and to the one opposite mine, opening it and making my decision immediately. This room was bigger than mine and the windows were half-length. As aesthetic looking and beautiful full length windows were normally, I would need adjustable blinds or curtains to control the glaze and doing that here seemed better than the former room. The fact that I was the one that would be in charge of it since I couldn’t have any artisan come here was

  • MY EX WANTS ME BACK? NOT A CHANCE!   CHAPTER 20

JOCELYN’s POVI entered the boardroom and immediately turned to Harvey with questions and accusations in my eyes. I’d intentionally made sure to come ten minutes before the scheduled time, but the fact that all twenty-two pair of eyes rose to me immediately I opened the door told me I’d either gotten the wrong time. Or it had been shifted earlier, and I hadn’t been informed.Ethan’s voice rang out. “Have your seat, Jocelyn. The board just decided to come even earlier to discuss their stand on the matter on ground. You know how serious it is.”I took a deep breath and glanced at Harvey again, this time with apology, and she nodded. I went to sit down and stared at the people that were looking at me, some with judgment but most with satisfaction. Did they think this was going to bring me down? They shouldn’t make judgments that hastily, though.“So what’s the purpose of this board meeting and why exactly was I excluded from the beginning?” I asked, infusing as much authority as I could.

  • MY EX WANTS ME BACK? NOT A CHANCE!   CHAPTER 19

JOCELYN’s POVI leaned against a wall and closed my eyes, trying to reorient myself. The flashes and yells of questions were even more unbearable today. I opened my eyes after a few minutes and, ignoring the employees that were staring at me, headed to my office, whistling. At the very least, I’d survived the morning I’d been dreading since yesterday, the thought of this morning had robbed me of my sleep. But life had to happen, and my happy bubble was burst. I tried ignoring Clarissa and staying on my path to my office, but she came to stand in front of me, her arms in front of her chest and eyes shooting daggers at me. Even though I was aware of the fact that my being doxxed had affected her, I firmly believed she had no right to get angry with me. She was the cause of everything, and the thought of the text she’d sent to me yesterday still made me want to clench both my jaws and fists, so I won’t accidentally punch her in the face. I crossed my arm in front of my chest as well. Sh

  • MY EX WANTS ME BACK? NOT A CHANCE!   CHAPTER 18

DANIEL’s POV“Fine. Under one condition.” I said, and Jocelyn turned to me. I could see her pleased expression, and it made some of the anger I was feeling leave me.“What condition?” She asked.I went back to sit down and pointed at the couch that sat adjacent to my table and beside my shelf. “Have your seat.”She frowned as she went to sit down. “The condition.” She started and I smiled. It seemed like she had just remembered the last condition I’d given her and what she’d had to do.“It’s not as difficult as getting married.” I said, my voice intentionally cheerful,“Fine, then what is it?” I picked my phone up from the table and stretched it to her, but she shook her head. “Let me hear the condition first. What crazy thing will you ask for now?”I put my hand on my heart as if it hurt. “What do you mean by crazy things? Don’t you trust me?”She locked eyes with me as she responded. “Of course not.”I nodded with a smile. “That’s good. You should also act like that towards everyon
