Mag-log in~MELODY~
My head kept pounding, even as I slowly opened my eyes. For the first time, I noticed I wasn’t in my room. I froze instantly, heart pounding. The soft gray curtains danced lightly in the wind beside a glass window, as morning sunlight spilled across the unfamiliar luxurious suite. The bed I was on was too soft, too perfect. The air smelled faintly of cedar and rain. I looked down on my own body, only to notice I wasn’t wearing my last night’s dress. Panic slammed into me. I quickly sat up, but regretted it soon after as a wave of dizziness crashed into me. “What the hell—” But my voice came out hoarse. I looked down again, noting that I was wearing a clean oversized shirt. My legs were bare beneath the blanket. I couldn’t find my soaked gown from yesterday. My chest tightened so hard that I couldn’t breathe. Did something happen last night? Images from last night flashed through my mind. I still recalled the rain. The forbidden bar. Alcohol. The strong arms catching me in the cold. And those piercing silver eyes. Then nothing else… “Oh my God!” I pressed my hands over my forehead, heart racing. What exactly had I done? Suddenly, I heard movement by the door. Startled, I jerked my head sharply. A middle-aged woman wearing a black dress stood quietly near the door, like she had always been there. She wasn’t a maid for sure. She looked too composed to be a maid. The woman bowed respectfully. “You’re awake.” My heart kept racing. Where am I?” “You are in the king’s private hotel.” My stomach dropped instantly. “The… King… like… the Lycan King.” She didn’t respond. That meant last night wasn’t some drunken hallucination. It was… real. The woman slowly stepped forward and placed a new set of folded clothes beside the bed. “His Majesty had instructed me to make sure that you are comfortable.” I blinked. “Comfortable?” Those words sounded too absurd to come from someone associated with the Lycan King. I had never heard of anyone being comfortable around the king. I could still recall the look of shock on the faces of his men, even though I was drunk. “I need to go.” I said quickly, throwing the blanket aside. The woman didn’t even react or try to stop me. And that only made me even more nervous. I stood up quickly, but then another wave of dizziness hit me. I grabbed the bedside table for balance. Perfect. I groaned. Guess I can now get an award for getting drunk and collapsing into strangers. Even mom would probably wish she could rise from the dead and lecture the hell out of me. The woman handed me a glass of water, but with an expressionless face. “…um, thank you.” She nodded. There was something about her calmness that unsettled me. It was almost like she knew something I didn’t. Slowly, I gulped down the water, while trying to remember whatever I could from last night. But all I could remember was still those silver eyes and shocked expressions. For the first time, his strange question came to mind. “Why… Why can I touch her?” A shiver ran through me. “Um… Did I, you know do anything embarrassing last night?” The woman looked at me, and to my surprise, the corner of her lips raised slightly into a short smile. “Well, that depends on your definition of embarrassing.” Oh shit. Before I could get the chance to ask further, she slowly handed me a black card. “There is a car waiting to take you home, it’s downstairs.” I didn’t respond. My eyes were still fixed on the card and the elegant silver letters that were engraved across it. COME SEE ME. There were no other words on it. No explanation, or even a signature. Just cold, arrogant and strangely intriguing words. I looked at the woman standing like a statue. “What does this mean?” I whispered. But she replied simply: “His Majesty wishes to see you again.” My heartbeat stumbled awkwardly, as I stared at her, not knowing how to react. Why? But that question alone felt very dangerous. Why would a man like the Lycan King who hates women want to see me again? And worse… Why did a part of me want to go? The woman stepped out quietly as though giving me the privacy to get changed. For a moment, I contemplated escaping on my own without getting into that vehicle. What if I actually did something terrible, and the king wanted to get back at me? How would I survive it if I walked right into his car? Surrendering myself to his vengeance. Chills ran down my spine. “Are you ready, miss?” The woman’s voice came after a while. Despite my fear, I still told her I was ready. I still followed her out of her hotel suite, into the elevator and then into the black sedan that could actually lead to my death. But it didn’t. It actually brought me back to my father’s pack. But it was the sight before me that almost made my heart stop forever. For the first time, I wished I didn’t come back.SELENEThat fainting was my last minute resort, I had to get his attention somehow.I was practically there, dressed in an eye catching way expecting him to notice or at least compliment me like he used to do, but he was searching for Melody with his eyes. And when he had enough of the conversation, he decided to walk out on me.One beautiful thing about me is I’m a lovely actress, so acting like I have fainted wasn’t really a big deal for me.That nasty doctor just wants to ruin my plans somehow, each day I stay in the palace, I act like I’m not getting better, listing so many symptoms and insisting that the doctor administers medicine. The doctor knew nothing was wrong with me, he kept saying I just need rest and that I need to go home.I insisted that I wasn’t feeling strong enough, my mother was there as well to back me up.Thankfully, the king didn’t abandon me.He comes at least four times everyday to check on me, ordering the servants to get me anything I wanted, lots of fruits
~VICTOR~‘Hello’ I said to her sweetly. Her face widened in horror ‘How long have you been standing there?’ she asked.I shrugged ‘Well, long enough’‘Please tell me you didn’t hear anything’I laughed ‘You mean the conversation between yourself and your darling husband?’She nodded.‘I mean….I heard enough’Her eyes widened ‘What?’‘Mmhhh, don’t worry I won’t tell anyone. Your secret is safe with me’ I said, winking at her.‘I didn’t even hear you come in’ she murmured.‘I do that sometimes, I come in and surprise people’I knew the queen wasn’t happy, I can see how much she tries to hide her sadness with her smiles.Today I confirmed it all.The reason for her sadness, the reason why she changes the topic each time the king is brought up.I didn’t really hear much of the conversation between her and the king.I heard Selene name mentioned, saw how her shoulders fell, saw Aurelian reaction, the hard look he had when he looked at her, and I concluded everything in my head. The rest of
~MELODY~I ran my hairbrush repeatedly on my already brushed hair whispering to myself.‘This marriage will end in less than a year or more. Get your head in the game’I have been repeating these words to myself over the last half hour. Perhaps I believe that if I say it more than necessary, I might actually start believing it myself.Perhaps I would stop following the king with my eyes, watching his every move.Perhaps I would stop counting how many times he has checked on Selene.Perhaps I would stop imagining if he still loves her.I held the hair brush tightly staring at my reflection in the mirror. What is wrong with me?I signed the damn contract, I accepted his rules, I bluntly told him that I will never fall in love with him and now, even his scent gives me unimaginable butterflies.I struck myself across the face and yelled ‘Focus girl’A few minutes later I joined Lady Martha in the large library for my lessons.Yesterday’s topic was on duty, she taught me what’s expected of
~AURELIAN VOSS~(THE LYCAN KING)Today, the palace was in a celebratory mood. The ballroom has already been decorated, tables were arranged, there was wine, fruits and different delicacies.People were already trooping in their numbers to celebrate me.I didn’t want the party, but the elders insisted that we must throw one to thank the moon goddess for keeping me alive. This is the first time I have been able to come out of my chambers without my legs failing me or my eyes spinning. That poison really did a number on me, it rendered me bedridden, tortured me for days with fever, headache, body pain, dizziness and a host of others.I hate being sick because it makes everyone look at you like a pity project. Even as I was back at my feet, the ‘I’m so sorry your highness, hope are you getting better?’ kept streaming in.I won’t lie if the poison could humble me like this, I wonder what it could have done to Melody. She is a tough girl, but I doubt she can handle it.When the doctors told
~VICTOR~I had rushed back home, cleaned up, closed my eyes for a few seconds and sleep didn’t come.I sat up on my bed, threw a robe on and poured myself a glass of whiskey. It has been the longest 24 hours of my life.I almost died, I almost got the queen killed too and now the king is currently dealing with the poison designed to kill the queen.I still can’t believe the queen was the target. What could she have done to them? She was the sweetest person I have ever met, calm, down to earth, intelligent, and always minds her business. How can somebody like that be a target?Even when the king fell pale and cold as death, she was swift to get some herbs to help him stay alive. Is there anything she can’t do?She is simply amazing. She stayed with him all night, nursing him, could barely sleep, touching him almost every minute to make sure he was breathing.Last night I saw a woman that loves with her whole heart, a woman that can deny herself comfort just for her partner to be okay.
~MELODY~We all have scars that comes from our childhood or from our adulthood. For me I've got scars from both.Everybody gets to hide their scars and act like they don’t have any influence in their lives as a whole, but that's so far from the truth. Our scars will always be a part of us and it influences our progress in life. Each time I see Selene, I remember memories I thought I have forgotten. One mistake I keep making is thinking that the kings feelings for her have evaporated into thin air.No matter what happened between them, they were betrothed at one point. Those emotions will always remain forever.I lifted my eyes and saw her approaching me, my face drained of color. She had that cruel smile on her face.I frowned. What does she want again?I left her with the king as she wanted so why is she approaching me now?‘Your highness’ she said, giving me a little bow.I cleared my throat ‘Lady Selene, how can I help you?’She chuckled ‘You know you don’t have to use the whole t
~MELODY~“Smile, Melody,” my stepsister said softly, her voice mocking. “Tonight is a happy occasion, and I have a big surprise for you.”Then her grip tightened painfully around my wrist. I looked up at her, silently taking note of the beautiful silver gown she had on, and the diamond jewelry. T
~MELODY~“Release her.”Those words cut through the courtyard like a blade, stopping everything in its track. The guards who were holding my arms immediately froze before letting me go. It was as if everyone suddenly remembered that they wanted to stay alive. My heart pounded violently.Slowly, I
MELODY~The second I stepped out of the black sedan, I forgot how to breathe. All the pack members were standing in front of our house. Worse still, everyone was staring. Servants, guards. and pack members. My fingers trembled as I took in the shocked expression on their faces.Shit. They weren’
MELODY~As though sensing my pain, rain began to fall as I stepped out of the pack.Yet, the coldness of it all didn’t make the ache in my chest hurt any less. I walked aimlessly through the empty street, my hair and dress soaked against my skin. I wasn’t sure where I was going, but I knew I coul
