Jace's POV

The hardened expression on my father's face reflected the severity of the situation. His grip tightened as he declared, "Kill her immediately. Chop her into pieces and have her sent to them in a wooden box. We don't want any trouble."

I stood up, locking eyes with my father in a daring confrontation. The air crackled with tension as I spoke, my voice firm, "You would have to kill me first."

Hearing those defiant words, my father shot me a look that could have pierced steel. "What is it that I just heard you say, son? Have you lost your mind?" he questioned, his tone laced with anger and disbelief.

I maintained my stand, avoiding his gaze by tilting my head sideways. "I think I have," I replied, my voice steady and unyielding.
