CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

"Be careful!” she yells.

"Those things move fast when you get too close, like cats.”

She wasn’t lying.

The moment I bend down, the robot darts under the bed.

“Oh hell no!” I drop to my hands and knees. “Get back here, you nosy bastard!”

Cassie is wheezing with laughter in my ear.

“This is the best honeymoon story ever—”

“It’s NOT a honeymoon!” I snap, shoving my arm under the bed.

The robot whirs and shoots out the other side, circling the room like it’s taunting me.

“STOP. RUNNING!” I yell, grabbing a pillow and throwing it at it.

Cassie screams laughing. “Girl, you’re fighting your husband’s security system.”

“I DO NOT CARE!”

I chase the thing in circles until I finally corner it against the wall. I pounce, flipping it over, searching frantically with my thumb until—

CLICK.

The light goes dark.

“Oh,” Cassie whispers. “You actually did it.”

I collapse on the floor, breathless, hair wild, chest heaving like I just won a battle.

I ended the call wi

  • MY WILD OBSESSION    Chapter twenty four

CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR The first day back at work after the wedding feels surreal. My colleagues swarm me, hugs, congratulations, questions all jumbled together. “We’ve missed you!” one says. “Congratulations, Amelia! You look amazing!” I smile, laughing, nodding, keeping the excitement on the surface, but underneath, there’s a tension I can’t shake. Hardin’s warning echoes in my mind: “Keep your panties intact. One slip, and you’ll regret it.” That thought terrifies me. I push it aside or at least I try, and focus on the task at hand. Today’s flight is high-profile. The passenger is Blake Jordan, the son of one of the wealthiest men on Earth. A simple flight from New York to Spain for a conference, but the pressure feels intense. Every detail must be perfect. Everything is set. I’m walking down the aisle of the jet when I accidentally bump into someone. “Oh! I’m so sorry,” I say, instinctively stepping back. “It’s alright,” he says, calm, steady, and then extends a hand.

CHAPTER TWENTY THREEI glance at my phone and see the message from Hardin, curt and commanding as always: “Be home immediately.”I let out a sigh and turn to Cassie, using it as my perfect excuse to escape. “He… wants me back at the house,” I tell her, shrugging as if it’s no big deal. “I better go.”Her eyes widen, a mix of tease and playful protest, but I ignore it. “I’ll see you soon,” I add, giving her a quick smile before moving toward the door. The chauffeur is already there, helping me load my bags with meticulous care. I cradle Snow in my arms, his tiny paws kneading against my chest, and for a moment, I let myself linger, feeling the weight of leaving my home. The car door opens, and I pause, taking a long, steadying breath. My gaze sweeps over the house one last time: the familiar driveway, the garden blooming with colors, the windows where sunlight used to dance in the mornings. This is my sanctuary, my freedom, my space. And yet, today, it feels like I’m le

CHAPTER TWENTY ONEI wake up alone. The first thing I notice is the silence, too soft, too intentional, like the room itself is pretending it didn’t witness last night’s humiliation. Hardin is gone. The sheets beside me are cold, untouched, as if he didn’t even consider lying close.I sit up slowly, the silk sheets sliding off my body, and finally take in the room properly. It’s… surreal.Floor-to-ceiling windows draped with sheer gold curtains. A chandelier dripping with crystal above me. Velvet sofas. A marble fireplace. The kind of room queens sleep in and somehow I’m supposed to live here now.It should feel magical.Instead it feels like a luxury cage.“A miserable night in a royal suite,” I mutter under my breath. “Perfect.”My eyes fall on something small tucked under a gold bell on the bedside table. A folded card with Hardin’s handwriting sharp, elegant, annoyingly calm.Ring if you need something. – H“Fuck you,” I whisper at the note. What I need is sex, s

  • MY WILD OBSESSION    Chapter twenty

CHAPTER TWENTY The penthouse suite sits on the top floor of the Grand Imperial, a place soaked in gold light and dripping with silent expectations. The wedding is over. The guests have gone. The flowers are wilting somewhere downstairs, and the world has moved on…Except me.Except him.Hardin closes the door behind us with a soft click, the sound so quiet yet so final that it slides under my skin like ice. The room is warm, dim, lit only by a spread of candles someone must have arranged earlier, soft amber light dancing across the marble floor.I stand there, still in my gown, breath shallow, heart racing from something far more dangerous than fear.Desire.It coils low in my stomach, a familiar, hungry ache that only grows stronger when he shrugs off his jacket, loosening the first button of his shirt. My eyes follow the movement like it’s a command written in the air.He notices.Of course he notices.Hardin lifts an eyebrow, just a slight curve, as if he’s readi

  • MY WILD OBSESSION    Chapter nineteen

CHAPTER NINETEEN The morning of my wedding feels unreal. Not in a dreamy, floating-on-clouds way but in the way a storm stands behind a glass wall, silent but threatening. I wake up before sunrise, heart thumping, staring at the ceiling of the penthouse suite Hardin booked for me and the girls. My stomach is tight, my head too full. Today I’m supposed to smile. Today I’m supposed to walk down an aisle with cameras flashing, with people cheering, pretending my life isn’t a whirlwind of fear, secrets, and too-intense emotions. But I get up anyway.Cassie and Sofia are already awake, sipping coffee and rehearsing what they’ll tell the internet once pictures leak. They keep glancing at me as if waiting for me to tear up. I don’t, I can’t afford to. So I plaster on a soft smile and say I’m excited.Inside, I’m praying not to panic. The makeup artist, the hair stylist, and the stylist’s assistants move around me like I’m some rare doll on display. Brushes sweep across my
