Chapter 28

Maddox's POV

"Maddox."

I hear a girl's voice say, waking me up. I open my eyes and blink a few times.

I see Izzy kneeling in front of me with her arms folded resting on the bed and her chin resting on her folded arms.

"Scooch over!"

She says standing up and I scoot back. She climbs into bed then nuzzles her face into my chest.

"Remember when I used to swear there was a monster under my bed and refused to sleep alone.

You would go under my bed and show me there was nothing there. You slept with me for a whole month. You told me you would keep me safe from the monster."

I chuckled remembering that. We were both little. I remember being so protective of her, I told her I would never let the monster get her so I slept with her for a month until she got over it.

"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you from the monster."

Izzy said, her shoulders shaking as she began to cry.

"It's okay Izzy, it's my job to protect you anyways not the other way around."
