30. Under the Night Sky
Ten minutes after Noni received Briar’s call, she had informed everyone she could, while Shae called others.
“Why isn’t she picking up? She just called!” Noni started hyperventilating.“Noni! Slow down. Briar is in enemy territory now. Chief and the others know how to handle situations like these. Scythe jumped off the Jeep before they were in the driveway, sprinting past them to ready places for the injured. Walking into Briar’s dark and silent room, Kyle looked at his daughter laying there, bruised, broken, and unable to speak because he and Noni had only wanted her to grow up to know life before service and duty.
