31. Homecoming

Scythe jumped off the Jeep before they were in the driveway, sprinting past them to ready places for the injured. Bursting through the door, Noni and Shae were the only ones there. “Where is the guard we left here for you?”

“About 20 minutes after you all left, a Quad arrived, surrounded all of us, observed our guard, and took all of us by surprise. I need a rest. I used a lot of energy using my aura this time. A few of them got away. We haven’t had the chance to go off in search of who’s left or what direction they ran in. Sorry.” Shae collapsed, finally being able to breathe, relax, and let her guard down.

“Dove, bring Briar up to her room, and put Troy in the spare room at the end of the hall. I want Link, up there, one at each door.” Chief said, relinquishing control back to Kyle.
