32. Briar's Home!

Walking into Briar’s dark and silent room, Kyle looked at his daughter laying there, bruised, broken, and unable to speak because he and Noni had only wanted her to grow up to know life before service and duty. This is the repayment for her upbringing. He sat on the chair that was at her bedside and picked up one of her small hands, held it to his forehead then to his lips. When her eyes opened and saw him there, she opened her eyes wide, rubbing them to make certain she wasn’t dreaming. When the tears started falling he swept her up in a bear hug like he would when she was a child and hurt herself.

“Bri, I am sorry for all of this. You should have been informed from the very start. Your mom and I only wanted you to grow up knowing life so you could become the one to save us all. That kind of stress should not be put on a child, ever.” He whispered.

She placed her hands on either side of her father’s face. She shook her head, indicating there was nothing to forgive.
