“Khrysanya.” Alek shuts his laptop and kisses me on the lips. “Don’t stay out long. You might catch a cold.”

He’s supposed to arrive tomorrow from the trip, but they came back earlier today. He made love with me, took me out, and brought me some clothes. Now, he looks tired.

“You okay?”

“I’m just exhausted.” He stands up, taking the laptop with him. “I’m hitting the bed early.”

“Then I’m coming with you.” I look up at him.

“It’s fine.” He turns to his men, paying cards beside the pool to give us the entire patio for our privacy. “Hey, take care of her. If I see a mosquito bite on her skin, I’ll throw a knife at your chest.”

I laugh. “You’re insane. Just go up. I’ll be there in a few minutes.” I learned the names of his security details, who are always around the house.

Sasha, the blond, his second-in-command. Mirom, the giant, brought me food while Alek locked me up in the room. Then Oleg, the dark-haired one who likes to cook, came back a couple of days ago after healing. Then the identical twins, Yuli with short hair and Vital, who keeps his hair long.

I also met his uncle, Kirill, who’s single but one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. The cook, Anastasiy, and the head of the housekeepers, Martha.

When I get to know them, these people are not so bad.

Sasha comes with a fleece covering my back. “I don’t want holes in my chest.”

I laugh, shaking my head. “You know he’s just joking, right?”

He looks at me. “No. When it comes to you, he doesn’t joke.”

“You’re kidding.” I stare at him in shock.

“I wish.” Sasha also has an almost perfect American accent, which he grew up with and studied in the States.

“He won’t do that.”

“If he says he cuts my head, he will cut my head.”

“That’s ridiculous.” I roll my eyes, standing up. “Then I’m going up. I still want you guys alive to protect his ass.”

The guys playing are shaking hard, laughing in silence.

“Good night, guys.” I get into the house and meet Kirill in the hallway.

He smiles at me. “Is he okay?”

“I don’t know. Did he ever get sick?”

“When he was young, yes. Why?” Even his uncle is worried.

“I think he’s not feeling well. If there’s someone who catches a cold in this weather, it’d be me. Don’t worry. I’ll call down if he gets worse.”

“Thank you, darling. Do you need anything?”

“I’m good. Thanks.”

When I get back to his room, he’s already in bed, but I know he’s still awake. I sit in bed and check his forehead with the back of my hand. He’s hot, really hot.

“Alek, I think I should call Sasha to call the doctor.”

“I already took Tylenol. Maybe you should stay in the other room. I don’t want to catch whatever I have.”

“Tylenol, huh? And no, I’m staying. Or maybe you get sick because of me.”

He opens his tired eyes. “Then I don’t mind.”

I roll my eyes. “That’s not funny. Give me a minute.” I get up to get a towel from the bathroom. I wet it with cold water and squeeze it out.

When I get back, he’s about to fall asleep. I place the towel on his forehead and join him in bed.

I can’t help but worry. I know he’s just trying to look fine, but I can tell the fever is high, and that’s something he can’t lie or hide from me.

Even if I want to check his body temperature or call a doctor, he already falls asleep, and I don’t want to disturb him anymore.

I text Sasha.

JASMINE: If Alek doesn’t improve in the morning, we’re calling a doctor.

I see the message bubble up. His reply pops seconds later.

SASHA: Good idea. I’ll stay up in case you need me.

JASMINE: You don’t have to. I’ll knock on your door if there’s an emergency.

SASHA: I’ll stay up for a few hours.

JASMINE: Thanks.

I must have fallen asleep. I’m still wearing the same clothes from last night. Still feeling sleepy, I rub my eyes and stretch out. Then I pat Alek’s side.

I pat something hairy like fur. A warm, moving fur, raising and falling, like someone’s breathing under the fur blanket. Did Alek wake up in the middle of the night and grab a fur blanket or a coat because he’s feeling cold?

When I open my eyes and look at him, I freeze. My thoughts scattered. I forget how to blink, and I struggle to breathe, and the odd gasping sounds I’m hearing are coming from me.

The blast of shock injects me with a dose of adrenaline, and I jump off the bed and scream until my back hits the wall.

“Sasha!” I cry out his name. An intense scream wracks from my throat again as the wolf in bed stirs. It was big, the biggest wolf I’ve ever seen in my entire life, and I’ve seen plenty.

The silver white wolf, almost like a full moon in the midnight sky, opens its eyes. The familiar steel gray eyes stare at me, blinking, seemingly confused, but showing some recognition.

The door opens, slamming against the wall. Sasha and the rest of the guys barge in heavily armed.

It’s too late for me to realize that the wolf in bed is Alek. The way they lower their guns and go on their knees simultaneously, like they’ve practiced it a thousand times, makes my heart swell with pride.

“Alpha,” says Sasha, lowering his head, and the rest follow, including Kirill, who looks proud.

“Oh, Goddess.” I let go of a shuddering breath as I step closer with weak knees. “Alek, you get your wolf back. You’re complete again.”

Even him, the look in his eyes, he seems shocked himself, staring at me.

“Yes, go see yourself in the mirror,” I tell him enthusiastically.

He jumps off the bed, his paws thudding against the floor. As he acknowledges his men, they get up and step back to give way to their alpha. What’s left in bed are his shredded boxers. He then stands before the mirror and looks at himself.

I step closer to him, petting the back of his ear. Alek then turns to me, slightly bows his head, and I can’t help but smile.

I hug him on the neck, sliding my fingers through his soft fur, and I can feel him purring.

“Welcome back, Alek’s wolf.” I look right into his gray eyes, seemingly grateful, and I see my reflection in them, and I can feel like he’s telling me something.

Seconds later, his men and Kirill walk out, closing the door after them.

With ease, he shifts back to Alek, wearing a smile of gratitude. Then he pulls me, holds me tight into his powerful chest, making it hard for me to even breathe.

“You made me whole again, Khrysanya, when I thought it was impossible, but our circumstances brought us together. From the very first time I saw you in the coffee shop, you lit up among the crowd. And I’d never been sure in my entire life that it was you, my Khrysanya.”

I pull away, staring at him. “What do you mean? You knew me before that wedding?”

“Yeah.”

My mouth dries in horror. “Did you tell Liam to ditch me so you could crash his wedding and kidnap me?”

JasmineIt’s been ten days since I was taken away from home. I’m beginning to adapt to my situation, but I miss Mom and home very much.I feel Alek has loosened up around me. He kept the door unlocked since he gave me the phone. I don’t know if he’s beginning to trust me that I won’t escape or if he’s testing me, but I’m not going to abuse that trust, if there’s any.Anyhow, I’m enjoying my little freedom.I talk to Mom every day over the phone. I text her and send a video as often as I can to assure her that I’m fine.“So, how about Mr. Voyslav?”“What about him?” I look at Mom on the phone screen. “Don’t keep your face so close, Mom. I can only see your nose,” I joke.“Is he treating you right? Or is there something going on between you and him? It can’t be happening, honey. He’s dangerous.”“I know, Mom.” I walk through footpaths into the woods. Two days ago, Alek took me with him for a walk. His men started to allow me to get out of the house since then.I also want to familiarize

JasmineAlek’s actions towards me still puzzle me. I have a lot of questions, yet I can’t open my mouth to ask him.He just made love with me, and I felt every emotion he put into the sex. It was intense and overwhelming. He kisses me again before leaving the bed, stark naked, going to the bathroom.I’ve only been here for less than a week, yet I feel like something is going on that begins to terrify me. I feel such a stronger connection towards him, and it’s beyond physical attractions or sex— it’s beyond what I felt for Liam over the years.I cover myself with the sheets, conflicted. I start to believe him. I start to open my mind to believing that I begin to trust him, and it’s the most dangerous thing to gamble.Still, I can’t stay here. This is not my life. I have a pack and a mother to get back to. I may not have true friends, but Blue Moon Pack in Illinois is family.“Where did you go?”I lift my gaze to the glass of red wine he offers me as I drag myself to rest against the he

JasmineAlek’s words leave me speechless. I resent Liam for choosing my stepsister over me and for using me as collateral for his debt. I would resent myself even more for getting dragged into Alek’s business and war with the Varfolomey if I didn’t walk out before my family got hurt.We get back to the house. What he did, taking me out for dinner and a walk, is kind of nice, but I shouldn’t get used to being pampered when he clearly wants something from me.He helps me get off my coat and says, “Do you want wine?”I smile gratefully because I know what he wants next. “Sure. Thank you.”“I’ll be right back.” He leaves immediately after hanging my coat on the rack.I walk to his bathroom to freshen up and change into something sexy. At least if he wants me in bed, I don’t smell like fish, and I think I want him too. It distracts me from missing my mom and the danger looming around.I know sex is not going to answer my problem, but I’m an adult, and I want to experience sex before my lif

Alek“What are you talking about?” I’m confused because if she knows what happened to my men and me for the last three days, she wouldn’t think of accusing me of having a good time with my nonexistent girlfriend.I have to leave one of my men in New York to heal because he risked his life and was severely injured to save my own from our enemy. I’m still wolfless just like hers, and I have to fight in hand-to-hand combat with werewolves.“Never mind.” She tries to slide off my lap, and I let her go.When Mirom gets back with a tray of food, I ask him. “What exactly did you tell Jasmine about where I went?”He shrugs. “I couldn’t tell her the truth, sir. So, I told her you went to see your girlfriend.”“My girlfriend? My fucking girlfriend? Are you fucking nuts?” I ask him in disbelief as I grab the tray of a glass of apple juice and slices of sandwiches from him and curse him in Russian. “Really? Couldn’t you come up with some good lies? How about you tell her the truth that I was on a

Jasmine“You want a free three-minute phone call to your mom? Then start sucking my dick.”“I’m not your whore, asshole.” Ashamed of my behavior, I turn my back on him as I lie in bed. All the things I’ve done for the last twenty-four hours come flashing back to mock me.Happy now, bitch?“Of course you’re not, but don’t plan on escaping, because if you run, I will chase you, and there’s no place in this world where you can hide from me. If you want to see the people you love alive again, don’t run.”Terrified and exhausted, I close my eyes.I wake up to an empty bed, no signs of Alek in the bathroom either. When I check the door, it’s obviously locked from the outside.I thought that after what we shared last night, he would allow me to walk around the house. I’m wrong to think that sex can solve my problem.I’m still a prisoner of a mafia boss, a captive in his house. After using the bathroom, I wait in bed until I grow tired. So I go back to the door to knock, hoping someone can he
