Elodie’s POV
“Elodie, is it true that Mia is going to marry Henry Vonstein? That super wealthy mafia boss?” Ella asked me as soon as I entered our classroom.
I looked at her. “H-How did you know about that?”
“Oh come on, Elodie. Everything that happens in everyone’s life here in the university is known by everyone. You know how our schoolmates love gossiping.”
I heaved a deep sigh as I put my backpack down. “You know, I feel sorry for Mia. She is still too young to get married and she doesn’t even know that man. Given that the man is mafia boss. I’ve heard a lot of bad things about those kind of people.”
“Oh come on, Elodie. Why do you care so much about that bitch when she always treats you like her servant?”
“Because I really am her servant.”
“Whatever. She deserves that for being so rude towards you. But on the other hand, she is quite lucky because she’s going to marry a wealthy man. I wonder if Henry Vonstein is hand some too since he doesn’t usually shows his face. If he is ugly, then Mia deserves him since she has such an ugly personality, too.”
“Ella…”
“By the way, can you come with me later? I want to go shopping.”
“Huh? Well…”
“Hey! You promised me you’re going to come with me!” she pouted like a kid.
I smiled as I pinched both of her cheeks. “Fine. I’ll come with you. But I also have to go home early, okay?”
“Okay!”
When our class dismissed, Ella drove us to the nearby mall where she bought so many clothes for her.
“Elodie, I think this dress suits you!” she suddenly said to me while holding up an off-shoulder red dress in front of me.
“I-I think that’s too uncomfortable…”
She laughed. “You are so innocent! Come on, if you ever find yourself a boyfriend, make sure to wear this on your first date.”
“Huh? I don’t have a boyfriend and I am not planning to have one. All I want is to live with Aunt Sally until the day I die.”
“Oh, come on. You don’t even want to have kids? A beautiful woman like you should make a lot of beautiful babies for this world! Also, don’t you even want to experience sex? Do you want to die a virgin?”
My eyes widened when Ella said that. I looked around us and heaved a sigh of relief when I found out that no one seem to heard what she just said. “E-Ella…”
“Whatever. I’ll buy it for you as a gift but you have to promise me one thing. You’re going to wear on your first date with the man that you truly love and the man that you want to be with for the rest of your life.”
“You don’t have to buy that for me, Ella… For sure that’s so expensive too.”
“Stop it, Elodie. This is my gift for you, okay?”
In the end, I had no choice but to accept her gift.
It was already eight in the evening when I got to the Denmarks’ home.
“I’m sorry for getting home late, Aunt Sally. Ella asked to go shopping with her. Look, she even bought me some clothes and a dress. Also, she bought some food for you,” I said as I put the paper bags down.
Aunt Sally then smiled at me. “It’s alright. Ask Ella to come here, so I can cook for her some other time.”
“She’ll love that.”
“I’ll put these in the laundry,” Aunt Sally said as she started checking the paper bags. I went to the bath room for a while to take a bath and change my clothes. As I stepped out of the bathroom, I saw Aunt Sally looking at the dress that Ella bought for me.
“E-Ella bought that for me. I already told her I can’t wear such dress. I-I won’t wear it, Aunt Sally.”
Aunt Sally turned around and looked at me. “This actually suits you. You can wear it if you want to.”
“H-Huh? B-But isn’t that too vulgar?”
“This is what girls in your age usually wears nowadays, so I see no wrong about wearing it in a suitable occasion.”
“I don’t think I can wear that though. Ella also told me I would only wear that on my first date with the man I truly love and I want to spend the rest of my life with. I told her I will never have a boyfriend because I’m going to live with you forever.”
Aunt Sally suddenly burst into laughter after hearing what I just said. “You really are a silly child. Of course you can’t be with me forever. I’m getting old and soon enough I will leave you. But before that happens, I want to see you have a good life with someone who will love you truly.”
I shook my head as I hugged Aunt Sally. “Don’t say that… I don’t want to leave you, Aunt Sally. I will never leave you.”
“I know, I know… I just want you to always be happy, Elodie.”
Just when we were about to go to sleep, someone knocked on the door. I stood up and opened the door and saw Daisy.
“Elodie, the Denmarks want to talk to you. They said they’re going to wait for you at the drawing room.”
“H-Huh? But why? It’s already late…”
Daisy shrugged, “I don’t know either. Maybe they have something important to tell you.”
I looked at Aunt Sally then I changed my clothes before proceeding to the drawing room where the Denmarks are waiting for me.
I wonder what they want to tell me at this hour. It's already late in the evening, so I'm kind of nervous.
No one was talking between the young master and I while we were inside his car on our way back to the Denmarks’ mansion. “Where have you been?” Mia asked Young master Henry the moment we stepped out of the car. I waited for them to enter the mansion first before I started running until I reached our room. I locked the door and hid under my blanket as tears started cascading down my cheeks. The sound of my sobs muffled by the fabric of the blanket. Why did the young master do that? Why did he kiss me even though he already has a fiancée? What should I do now? If the Denmarks find out about that, they will surely kick us out of their mansion. Or maybe I should talk to the young master again. Maybe I should ask him not to tell anyone about what happened. But he is the one who did it, why does it sound like it was my fault when I didn’t want what happened? Will Mia believe me if I tell her that it was the young master who kissed me if she ever finds out about it? For sur
“What took you so long?” Young master Henry asked me the moment I arrived.“I-I apologize, young master. I-I just had something to do first.”“It’s alright. Get inside the car now.”“Y-Yes, young master,” I said as I got inside his car.No one was talking between the two of us while we were on our way to the place where the young master wants to go to. I don’t really know where we are going, but it’s not like I have any choice.I opened my eyes and I immediately got surprised when I saw the young master’s face so close to mine. I immediately sat properly and lowered my head as I spoke, “I-I apologize, young master… I-I didn’t know I fell asleep…”“We’re already here. Step out now,” he said as he opened the car door for me.“T-Thank you, young master…”My eyes widened when I got out of his car and saw a vast, open field with targets set up at a varying distances in front of us.W-Wait, why are we here? Is the young master planning on killing me by setting me up as the target?“Follow m
“Are you sure that’s what the young master wants?” Daisy asked me when she saw me holding a tray with only a slice of bread and a cup of coffee.I nodded my head, “H-He actually asked me about my usual breakfast and I told him that I usually have only a cup of coffee and a slice of bread in the morning. Then he told me that he would like to have that, too.”“I knew it!”“Huh?”“I told you, the young master likes you. Why would he even ask about your usual breakfast if he doesn’t care about you, right? Trust me, Elodie. He really likes you.”I just shook my head because of what she said, “There you go again, Daisy. Stop saying those things if you don’t want the Denmarks to hear you, okay? I will give this to the young master already.”“Whatever. I still believe that what I said is true.”I could feel my hands shaking as I entered the young master’s room again. He was nowhere to be found inside his room, so I just decided to put the tray above the table near the window. He’s probably
"Elodie, I think the mafia boss likes you," Daisy said while we were at the mansion's garden, watering the plants. My eyes widened as I looked at her, "W-What? Are you serious about that?""I am. It's so obvious from the way he looks at you and those words that he told you yesterday. I am really positive, he likes you. Well, we can't really blame him since you are way prettier than Mia Denmarks.""Daisy, if Mia hears you saying those things, for sure she'll get so mad at you.""But that's the true. You know what, Elodie? Have you ever dreamt of marrying a wealthy man just like that mafia boss? If you become his wife, you no longer have to work for the Denmarks. Also, you'll be able to give you and your Aunt Sally a good life. Isn't that amazing?"I shook my head. "I want to give Aunt Sally a good life but in my own way and not just because I married a wealthy man. Also, if I am to marry someone, I want a man who is kind and gentle.""That means you will never like a mafia boss, right
"Oh my gosh. Did he really say all of that?" I nodded my head. "I really thought he would kill me on the spot. I was so scared..." "That's their fault! The Denmarks! They are nothing but an evil family! How can they send an innocent woman like you to a mafia boss?!" "I'm just thankful he didn't hurt me." "Right. I am also happy you're safe. I just wish you never cross paths with that mafia boss ever again." "For sure I would see him again. Especially now that their wedding is already approaching. I just hope their wedding finally comes, so I would never see him again." *** "Hey you, Elodie." I stopped from sweeping the floor and looked at Mia who was promptly sitting on the couch while holding a magazine. "Yes?" "Did something happen between you and Henry?" she asked. My brows furrowed. "H-Huh?" "Did something happen between you and my soon-to-be husband?" "N-No. Nothing happened. He just told me he wants to see your family or else they would kill all of u
The moment I stepped into the office of the mafia boss, my heart started beating so fast as if it would jump off my chest. I kept my head low, staring at the marble floor. "You're finally here." I almost jumped from where I was standing when I suddenly heard a low, rumbling voice of a man. I raised my head and met the gaze of a very handsome man wearing a black suit. He was standing in front of a mahogany desk. His piercing blue eyes locked onto mine, holding my gaze with an intensity that made my heart skip a beat. His chiseled features seemed carved from stone, his sharp jawline and prominent cheekbones accentuated by the dim lighting. "You are Mia Denmarks, am I right?" he suddenly asked, his stare intensified. I blinked a few times, trying to think of the best way I could explain everything to him. Should I tell him the truth? How should I tell him? What if he gets mad if he finds out that I am just a servant? What if he kills me? "You are my bride-to-be, why do
