As my gaze met the man's, my voice trailed off into a stunned whisper, "Aldo..."

His eyes widened before they trailed up and down my body. Suddenly his face closed off, cold and stern. Ray took off his hand from Aldo's chest when he was a face distance away from me.

"Allegra..." he said, with a nod of his head.

"It's Mrs. Mancini for you, Cerone. She's the wife of your boss, you address her with respect," Ray voiced, standing closely behind me.

Aldo's lips pressed into a thin line, "My apologies, Mrs. Mancini."

I acknowledged him with a simple nod, but deep down I felt nothing towards Aldo. I wasn't guilty of anything, and since the Underboss accepted me for who I am, why couldn't he? Perhaps, it was just another sign that Aldo and I were never meant to be together.
