TERZO

“You married Francesco’s daughter?” My father’s face reddened. I was scared he might have a heart attack. He’d been yelling at me the moment I brought Dani home after I cleaned her up in the bathroom of the hotel.

I respected my father so much that I never broke his rules or his words. I always did what he asked me to do without question. I was a good son, a good soldier. I’d been his puppet rather than his son all my life, but I knew he loved me. He’d give up anything for me.

I never questioned his actions, his plans, because I knew he did what was right, and this family would come first before anything.

We made it this far because of his ability to think before he acts, his compassion for his family and people, his intelligence, and his experience in life. Papa was a good man. He only had one rule— don’t break my rule, and I just did.

The yelling continued, “I specifically told you not to bring the girl safe, not marry her. I don’t want bloodshed, I want you to keep your han

DANII woke up to a wave of nausea rolling in my stomach. The first thing I felt was being cocooned against the warmth hard chest. The memory before this was vague. I groaned and cracked my eyes open. Squinting, I slowly lifted my gaze. I saw a handsome, rugged face with a little frown between his eyebrows. I wanted to touch it, to ease it away.Until everything that happened earlier hit me like a freight train. Son of a bitch.“You drugged me?” My throat was dry, but my voice was steady and strong. Was that why my neck hurt?Terzo glanced down at me, surprised, and relief flashed in his eyes. “Dani, you’re awake.”“Put me down this instance, Terzo,” I demanded. It was also a warning.“We’re almost there, Dani,” smiling, he said calmly while I was fuming an anger.“I said, put me down. Now!” My chest heaved in anger. I twisted against his arms as he carried me bridal style. I kicked so I could let my feet be free.He let go of a shuddering, irritating sigh. I waited for him to say so

DANIMaverick was right. Marettimo was the best place to get away. I enjoyed my little vacation before Terzo found me. The beach was beautiful, the food was so good, and the people here were kind. She also said that I would be safe here. Whoever stayed in the house was considered under their protection and off-limits. I still wondered how he hadn’t found me, considering this was their territory, or maybe, he didn’t care and he’d moved on.Pain beat in my chest. I dropped the bag on the couch. I just came back from the grocery store. I was planning on making some bolognese. The woman standing beside me earlier just glared at me as if I had just insulted her when I picked up a pack of pasta. I brought the plastic bags to the kitchen. My world came to a halt. I just made it to the door, and the bags slipped from my hands, dropping my groceries on the floor. I sucked in a breath to find that I wasn’t alone anymore. Ice floods my veins as our gazes lock. He was just there, standing behi

TERZO“So where’s the girl now?”“Nobody knows, probably alive with a new identity somewhere safe that nobody can find her, or maybe dead.” Even Ridge had a horror look on her face. “There was a slight chance she was taken away from that massacre that night.”“What the fuck, Ridge?” “I know it’s a lot to take in, but you know what to do.”“Damn right I do.”“What about Adams? Where is she?”“She was last seen crossing the Georgian border, investigating the anomaly at the Moroziv pipeline.”“What kind of anomaly?”“Ruslan Olezka’s men were seen in that territory, somewhat like regrouping.” Fuck. My heart stuttered to a stop at the mention of his name. Every time I heard his name, it creeped me out, which reminded me of the black Dahlia. I could feel it in my bones that the retaliation was imminent, and I didn’t know how to protect my family, my people, and my wife when she didn’t even want to talk to me.“But he’s locked up. Who’s running the business then?”“A new guy just appeared

TERZO“How’s your broken heart?” Katie asked as she slid onto the stool. It had been forty-eight hours since I last spoke with Dani over the phone, and she didn’t pick up after that, nor reply to my messages. And I was losing hope and patience.“I’m losing my shit, Katie.” I raised my middle finger at her, downing the alcohol that burned my throat immediately. I didn’t even wince. “I called you for advice.”“Marital issue is not my forte. Ask me how to con her stepfather, I’m all in.” She called the bartender and ordered a Martini.“I don’t know what to do anymore. My sister would not talk to me about my wife. I couldn’t get into the penthouse. She and her husband removed me from the visitor list.”“Is that so?” She grinned. “Since when did you lose your way? You broke into the most heavily guarded russian mafia compound. Penthouse? It’s a piece of cake, but I know why you don’t wanna try.”“I don’t want my sister to hate me. I don’t want a divorce because if I mention it, that’s the

DANIMy heart pounded against my ribcage as I watched Terzo on the monitor as he arrived at the private parking area of this building.“Well, it didn’t take long. Lake called earlier while you were in the shower. He said Terzo was at the mansion asking for you. He thought I brought you there, but what’s funnier is when Lake thought that I kidnapped you,” Maverick said proudly as if she just won an argument in court. Maverick told me how she met Lake. I stared at her for long seconds, digesting what she said. I knew she wouldn’t just joke about something, like her contract marriage with Lake Winston, a billionaire. And then she found out later on that she was the secret love child of Don Gaetano Siciliano with her estranged mother. She was raised by her Nana, who got kidnapped and was threatened by my brother. But there was always a villain in a love story. In their case, it was Lake’s father, Wallace, who hired my brother. Apparently, she and Lake fell in love and had a beautiful ba

TERZOI watched my fake self on my phone. It was like watching a rerun with the same scenario over and over again.“My father is not a patient man, Atty. Davis, and he won’t be in the position for long. He’s retiring, and I’m taking over the family business.” Tristan sat in the chair in his newly renovated kitchen. Marco and Gio were waiting outside. “Then tell your father to come here to collect.” My eyebrows raised at his response. “I know I promised you last month, but what I can afford right now is half.” He tied the robe. He was still wearing his sleepwear inside. “That’s not what we talked about. You took money from me to pay your gambling debt. The people you owe money to are not as patient as me. You pay me by the end of this week, or I will tell your wife about your gambling addiction. Your daughter is pretty, by the way. She goes to a law school downtown, am I right?”He steeled, eyes widening in fear. “Don’t touch my daughter. I’m a lawyer. I can make your life a living
