Having made up her mind to escape that night, Evelyn waited until she was sure the club would be busy to make her move. Night clubs were the busiest at midnight and she was sure everyone would be occupied to notice her running away. She picked the lock with the small knife she had sneaked into the basement and when the door opened, she stuck her head out and peered around. When she saw no one, she stood on her tippy toes and stealthily walked up the stairs, and went on the left toward the back door as fast as she could. Her heart was racing faster than a galloping horse for fear of being caught. Luckily, as she had anticipated, everyone was busy entertaining clients in the main hall so she was able to walk out of the club without being noticed. Or so she thought. She walked out into the cold night. The surrounding was illuminated by the full moon hanging in the starless sky. A soft breeze kissed Evelyn’s skin and she couldn’t help but inhale it. The basement she was in had
In City B, Zach's territory. Two days had passed without Evelyn being given food or water. She lay tied to the bed in her birthday suit. When it got too cold, she had nothing to cover herself. Not being able to stand it, she caught a cold. No one had come to check on her and with the way she was feeling, she was afraid she would soon die from starvation. Just when she thought she would suffer a horrible death, Zach walked into the room smoking a joint. Evelyn was too tired to move. She looked at him through half-hooded eyes. “Have you come to your senses?” Zach asked when he was near the bed. “Are you still going to try and escape?” Evelyn had no strength to answer. Her throat was parched. She was very hungry and her body was running a fever. Zach didn’t mind that there was no answer. He knew he had already achieved his goal. He had plans to aggravate Damian more tonight. If all goes well, he would be able to determine how important she is to him. He grinned from ear to
Damian felt a pang of jealousy when Zach touched and kissed Evelyn in front of him. He coiled his hands into fists, fighting the urge to get up and punch Zach in the face. He was on the verge of pulling out his gun to kill him. How dare he lay his filthy hands on his woman? He narrowed his eyes dangerously but he couldn’t show any reactions to what was happening to protect Evelyn. He had a plan on how to rescue her and he didn’t want to alert the enemy at this point. There was no need for him to come to this event but he wanted to see how Evelyn was doing. It was not the right time to challenge Zach since Evelyn was still in his grasp. So he had no choice but to turn a blind eye to Zach’s provocation. However, no one knew the turmoil Damian’s mind was going through. A storm of emotions swirled through his chest but he couldn’t act upon them. He could only bury his jealousy and watch as Zach tasted something that should have only been his to taste. Evelyn’s lips were his t
Damian withdrew his hand from under Evelyn’s dress and pressed his index finger to his lips in a shushing motion. He then leaned down and kissed her softly. “Go first, I’ll follow soon after.” He whispered and pushed her towards the door. When she was about to open the door, he pulled her back into his arms by her hand. Grabbing the back of her head, he kissed her fiercely, nibbling on her lips. He let up and stared down at her, his gaze hard. “I’ll come for you. I promise.” Evelyn nodded while biting her lip. Her heart was galloping. She didn’t want to return to Zach but understood that this was not Damian’s territory. Even if he wanted to take her away, the place was surrounded by Zach’s men. It would be a suicide mission. Reluctantly, she opened the door and walked out. Zach was pacing back and forth in the hallway. He looked up the moment the door opened, his gaze landing on the door behind her. Seeing his gaze, Evelyn crouched down to distract him. She wrinkled her fa
Evelyn shivered. Her heart had jumped to her throat, threatening to escape. Zach looked terrifying, staring down at her lecherously. Her heart banged hard and she felt sick. She didn’t want him to touch her. Or any other man for that matter. Only Damian could touch her. Her heart was his. She writhed as Zach pinned both her hands above her head with one hand while his other hand began to take off her clothes. Her eyes rounded. Was this it? If this man managed to do anything to her, she couldn’t even imagine how her life would be afterward. She looked around the room as if she could find something that would help her escape. Desperation filled her soul, her heart squeezing painfully. ‘Damian, where are you?’ He had promised to rescue her but she hadn’t seen the spy he was talking about. Could it be that he had lied? Her heart sank. If he did then she really was doomed. She could hardly push Zach off, how can she defend herself? She closed her eyes as tears poured down her c
“How long till you get here?” Damian yelled on the phone as he talked to Jack. Time was running out, he had to save Evelyn today but with the manpower he currently had, they would be on the losing end. It was because one of the Mafia rules was to not enter another man’s territory with a group of armed men as it would be an indirect declaration of war. Damian had to travel alone with a few of his bodyguards and Jack would follow after with the rest of his men to avoid suspicions. “Damian, we will be there soon. We were intercepted on our way, it’s like they knew we were coming. But don’t worry. We’ve dealt with them already.” Came Jack’s reply from the other side of the phone. They had been stopped by a group of thugs when they just drove into the City and it had taken them quite some time to get rid of them as more kept coming out from the places they were hiding. This was why they were delayed for a few hours. When Damian cut the call, he paced around in his hotel room, running
When Evelyn came to, she found Nina seated by her bedside, holding her hand. “You’re awake?” Nina asked, smiling brightly at her. “Thank goodness, I was starting to get worried.” Evelyn squinted her eyes trying to adjust to the light then suddenly jolted up from the bed when she recalled what had happened. “Damian…” She looked at Nina with watery eyes for confirmation. Was he really dead? Her stomach twisted into a bundle of nerves. Nina stared at her and patted her hands. “Calm down, he’s ok. You both were transferred back to the City since you couldn’t stay in Zach’s territory for long. But…” “But?” Evelyn asked, her heartbeat accelerating. Nina bit her lip, not sure if she should tell Evelyn. Damian’s surgery was a success but the doctors had failed to wake him up. They said his life was hanging by a thred. Sensing her hesitation, Evelyn grabbed her arms and shook her. “Tell me!” “Ok, I’ll tell you. Chill.” Nina relented after being shaken repeatedly. She sighed and
Evelyn jolted back in alarm and stared at Damian in shock after hearing his voice. She was met with his icy-blue eyes staring deeply right back at her. Her heart leaped with joy. “You’re awake!” She squeaked and gave him a hug. “Thank God! We were all so worried.” Tears of joy flowed down Evelyn’s face. She had never felt so relieved before in her life. If something happened to Damian, she would never forgive herself. Seeing him open his eyes, even though he still had a wound on his back made her happy. Damian chuckled and coughed. “Yeah… I wouldn’t die so easily.” His voice was hoarse from being unconscious for a while. Evelyn noticed this and stood up straight to pour him a glass of water. “Sorry, I was so excited that you woke up forgetting that you’re still injured.” She passed him the glass and began to help him dress up. Damian raised an eyebrow while taking a swig of the water. “Why are you dressing me up? I thought you were about to have your way with me?” Evely
