My confusion hasn't died down even as I step into my room with my new high heels. Samael—why does that name sound so familiar? And why is my heart still pounding from when he touched me?

I walk inside my room and kick off my shoes, not even hesitating before I plunge into my bed. A tiny voice shrieks in surprise, and I look straight ahead, sighing in relief when I spot Lucy blinking up at the ceiling. He must have fallen from the pillow. "I've searched everywhere for you!" I exclaim. "Where the hell have you been?!"
