Ferguson’s POV

She left...

I racked the strands of my hair when I noticed her disappearance from the party, I left the room to call her, at least hear the reason why she left without informing me but every call fell through, texts... no reply.

Was she that mad?

I had given up when the ding of my phone brought my attention back to the phone, “heading home... feeling tired... we will talk tomorrow... goodnight.”

Just like that...

I slid the phone back to my pocket, but a ring earned a deep groan from me, my face turned tight when I saw the name, it was my mom.

What was the probability that she had already heard the news? Taking a deep breath, I picked up the call.

“Hi mom...”

“Ferguson...” she yelled deep into my ears.

“Mom... my ear buds please,”

“I would pull them if I had the chance, because tell me why I had to learn that my own son has a fiancée, not a girlfriend but a fiancée from the media, what kind of son does that?”

“I wanted it to be a surprise,”

“It was definitely a surpri

Ferguson’s POV*A WEEK LATER*A breath of relaxation escaped my lips when the doctor changed the final stitch, it’s been a whole week since the incident, Claudia left without a word and Stella became bossier than ever.I don’t blame her though; I’m a bit stubborn but I have a freaking company to run.“So, doc, can I finally do some work? Like actual work,” I said, the side of my eyes facing Stella. The doc let out a small laugh after noticing my facial direction, “yes you can, but you still need to be careful, you don’t want a third tear.”Stella raised her face like she had just won an invisible battle, “thanks doc, I keep telling him, but you know...” she faced me with a wide grin on her face, “men.”Is that supposed to be a diss or a compliment...The doctor chuckled softly, scribbling down something on a piece of paper, “you’ll need to get this at the pharmacy,” he handed it over to Stella.Great! More drugs...She nodded gently as the doctor quietly left the room, Stella quickly

Stella’s POV“I’m going to the store,” I said from the doorway. He looked up from his book. “I can come with you.”“No.” I crossed my arms. “You’re not leaving this house, Ferguson.”He smiled faintly. “You sound like my mother.”“Good. Maybe you’ll listen for once.”He chuckled, raising his hands in defeat. “Fine. Don’t be long.”“I won’t.”My bag was picked up and I took my departure before he could persuade me otherwise. The outside air was raw, had too much sun, yet felt good to get so much more airing than anxiety. On the one hand, it was one week after that stormy night, and I still woke up and heard him falling. It was a fairly long stroll to the store, passing by a fair number of cars, with kids screaming in the faraway. I nearly felt like being normal.I selected some fruits, bread, and painkillers on the inside. When I made the payment I noticed myself in the shop mirror.Tired eyes. Weak smile.I shook my head. “Get a grip, Stella.”As I went out into the world, everything

Ferguson’s POVWe had finally moved back to my condo though Claudia still had the audacity to follow us. She had my mother's grave but for how long. The physician assured me that I would have a quick recovery provided I slept, which I could not do.So Stella had not so much as given me a minor finger lift in three days. She would snatch my telephone away or lock my computer and tell me off anytime I attempted leaving.I made a bad mistake this morning when I said about work. She stood still and crossed her arms and said,> “You step out of this house, Ferguson, it’ll be over my dead body. I’m not cleaning up another pool of your blood.”That shut me up fast. She didn’t even sound angry, just scared. And that scared me too.I sat on the couch feigning to read, and the doorbell went down.I opened my eyes and I was on my feet."Sit down!" she yelled from the kitchen.“I’m not a patient.”“You are until I say otherwise.”I grumbled and sat back down.A few seconds later, the door opened,

Ferguson’s POVThe following morning the pain did not bother me much. It was the silence that irritated me. That type that thought too much.It was since the night before Stella was not eased. She moved around my room like she owned it.“You don’t have to do all this,” I muttered, watching her pour me another cup of tea.She didn’t even look at me. “You shouldn’t have done all that climbing either. Yet here we are.”I smirked. “You’re still mad about that?”“Mad? Try furious,” she said, setting the cup down harder than necessary. “You scared me half to death, Ferguson.”I leaned back against the headboard, ignoring the sting in my back. “You should be used to me by now.”“Used to what? Watching you bleed?” She folded her arms. “No thanks.”I couldn’t help but smile. “You sound like my mother.”“Good,” she shot back. “At least one woman in this house has sense.”I chuckled softly, but she didn’t laugh. She simply stood and gazed at me with that face of hers which would have made me fee

Stella’s POVThe door creaked open.“Shouldn’t you be resting?” Ferguson’s voice came through, calm but hoarse.I looked up and froze. His shirt was half untucked, collar open, and there was a dark stain spreading down his back. Not dirt. Not water. Blood.“Ferguson,” I said, standing up quickly. “Whatwhat happened to your back?”He blinked at me, confused. “It’s nothing”“Nothing?” I walked straight to him. “You’re bleeding through your shirt.”He tried to smile, like it was a joke. “Guess I scratched myself climbing”“Take it off.”“What?”“The shirt. Take it off.”“Stella”“Don’t ‘Stella’ me. Sit down.”He sighed, but made no more protest, stooping down on the rim of the bed. I went behind and yanked up his shirt. The cloth was clodded to his flesh and when I ungeared it off I blushed nearly to death. His shoulder blades had crevices running through them which the wall itself seemed to have attempted to tear him up.“Oh my God… why didn’t you say anything?” I said quietly.“Because

Ferguson’s POVThe moment I stepped out of Stella’s room, the silence hit me harder than the cold air. My shirt was still damp, my chest tight but at least the guilt had suppressed a bit.The corridor felt longer than usual. Each step echoed against the marble floors, but someone’s perfume struck my nostrils before their voices did, Claudia...“Well... if it isn’t the hero of the night...”I stopped at the base of the stairs; Claudia stood there in robes she had entered my room earlier with a mischievous grin on her face.“And someone still hasn’t learned their lesson,” I said calmly but loud enough for her to hear. She frowned slightly, “climbing walls in the middle of a thunderstone. Quite a performance, even Spiderman didn’t go far for his heroine...”I rubbed a hand over my face, “that’s why there a thin line between fiction and reality.”“Oh, come on,” she teased, walking closer, “like many writers wouldn’t die to write that in their fictions... so tell me, was it worth it?
