Chapter 3

On the other side of the road...

Emerald's lucky charm store was busy. Many customers visited them the entire day to look for lucky charms, amulets, protection gems, and others in celebration of the Lunar Festival.

Lunar Festival was celebrated every February to coincide with the full moon. During this festival, humans believe that owning a lucky charm or protection gems will help them gain protection, abundance, prosperity, and success in life.

Emerald was so thankful that her two angels (assistants), Summer and Autumn were very accommodating in catering to the needs of each customer. That's why all of them left the store happy and satisfied.

"Thank you and come again," Emerald said to the last customer as she assisted it towards the open front door. She was about to close the door when a scent of sandalwood hit her nose.

"Mate..." Amara excitedly said. " Look for our mate."

"Yes, Amara." Emerald immediately went outside. She turned to the left side of the road to locate the scent but someone tapped her shoulder.

"Miss Emmie, is there something wrong?" It was Summer. The scent she smelled a while ago vanished.

"Nothing, Summer," Emerald answered. "Let's go back inside and clean our mess for us to go home early."

"Yeah, that's more like it." Summer hurriedly ran inside the store while Emerald glanced once again at the road before she went back inside the store.

"Amara, they're gone," Emerald whispered.

"Yeah."

After an hour...

"Sorry, we're closed," Emerald said when she heard the front door chimes ring. "Kindly go back tomorrow."

When Emerald didn't get a response after a few seconds, she sensed that something was wrong. She became alert but calm.

"Who are you?" Emerald asked. "What do you want from me?"

"You still didn't change, Your Grace." Someone suddenly uttered. "You're still calm as the water itself."

"Oracle," Emerald said when she got to see the one talking. "Why the sudden visit?"

"I had an important vision for you to tell, Your Grace."

"What is it?"

"In the next few months, chaos will be manifested in the six realms. A ruler will be born. He will conquer the six realms. But the other species didn't in favor of this and hindered it from happening."

"Okay..." Emerald said. "Then, what it got to do with me?"

"You, Your Grace will..."

"Hey! Will I be the one who will bear this future ruler you've said?"

"Yes, Your Grace." The Oracle quickly answered.

"What?"

"You and your mate are the chosen ones." The Oracle explained.

"If that's the case, who among the other species knew about this?"

"No one does, Your Grace. Except me, your mother, and the Moon Goddess itself."

"If mom already knew this, then why she didn't mention it to me earlier?" Emerald asked.

"It's because I'm the one in charged of it."

"Okay...then, when I got to meet my mate?"

"The soonest possible, Your Grace. But I didn't know it exactly."

"Could you spare me some details regarding my mate?"

"No, Your Grace." The Oracle said. "I mean...I didn't know anything about him. But I can assure you that he is worthy." After the Oracle said those words, he eventually vanished.

"Hey, Kai...wait." Emerald hurriedly said. "I still have some questions to..." Emerald sighed.

The whole vision of the Oracle blew her mind. She didn't expect it. Too many questions were popping into her mind as to why she was the chosen one. Does she deserve to be the mother of the future ruler?

"Why me?" Emerald whispered to herself.
