*FREYA*

He looks at me with wide eyes and drops something to the ground. When I glance down, I actually notice that it's a silver dagger glowing in the club.

What the actual fuck?

"Mate!" he yells while staring at me, adding more discomfort.

I chuckled awkwardly.

"I'm sorry, are you Australian or something?" I asked curiously while eyeing him up and down.

Before he can reply, a gunshot echoes spiking up my adrenaline as the club is filled with screams and people start running for their lives.

Someone pushes me and this tall dark stranger holds me in his arms, taking me by surprise.

"Shit," he muttered quietly while looking around the club.

I'm too buzzed to even care what he's talking about, and the chaos is making me feel a bit sick to my stomach.

I let out a scream when he grabs me effortlessly and tosses me over his shoulder like I weigh nothing.

"Put me down!"

My vision is almost blurry as he exits the back door, ushering us to safety as the bullets become more frequent and people's screams start to die down.

My friends are still back inside, and the thought of losing them makes me feel like a shitty friend.

I'm placed inside an expensive car as I lean against the red leather seat.

He buckled my seatbelt and I started to gag.

"No, don't you dare ruin my fucking car!" He yells in a threatening tone.

I shouldn't have drunk this much alcohol to begin with, but it was the only way I could get even with my stupid uncle and his wife.

After all, they continue to treat me like shit even after the deaths of my parents.

The mere thought of them sets me off, and I puke into this stranger's car without a second thought.

After a few minutes, I wipe my mouth with the back of my hand and sigh tiredly.

His phone suddenly starts ringing, he looks at the name with uncertainty and places it against his ear.

"You failed to meet your target, Lain, and now the hunter has become the prey."

I give him a puzzled look.

What was that supposed to mean?

"I know that I'm two minutes late, but I can still complete my task. I just need a second chance."

There is silence on the other end of the line.

"The dark tide doesn't give second chances."

The line goes dead and he looks pissed off.

"This is what you get for kidnapping me," I mumble softly, and he glares at me.

His unmatched eyes are filled with anger, and I drunkenly smile at him.

The back window suddenly shatters and someone begins shooting at us.

I duck and cover my ears as he steps on the gas and the car roars to life, speeding off into the silent night.

My hands are trembling.

"Why are they shooting at us?"

He ignores me and looks at each wristwatch, which won't stop beeping.

He looks as if he has lost his damn mind.

Furthermore, he hits the steering wheel hard as two black cars begin following us.

"Why didn't you just fucking die?" He grits while glaring at me.

I didn't even know this man, and the first thing he thinks of is just to see me dead. He is definitely a lousy kidnapper.

Instead of making me scared, he is getting on my nerves.

"Fuck you!" I shout, staring at him in disbelief.

I never asked him to save my life or to bring me here.

The first car rams into us and I let out a scream when he loses control of the steering wheel.

The car tires screech loudly when another car sends us flying over, and I see darkness.

When I finally open my eyes, I have a metallic taste on my tongue and I realize that it's my blood.

Someone is unbuckling my seatbelt, but I'm too weak to even move a muscle.

"We need to move before they catch up," he exclaims quietly while pulling me into his arms.

My head is throbbing, and I am on the verge of passing out, while he seems unaffected by the car crash.

When he helps me out of the car, my feet are still wobbly when they hit the ground. And at this pace, we won't even get to safety.

"I can't do it..." I whisper tiredly as my body begins to give in.

I lose my balance and fall to the ground when another bullet echoes through the silent night, making me whimper.

We are in the bad part of town where no one actually gives a shit about what's happening.

He stands in front of me protectively, and I feel something within me is pleased.

Who is this man?

Men dressed in black combat gear begin coming out of the two cars, and they are armed.

"It looks like the tables have turned, soldier," one of them mutters quietly while smirking at the man in front of me.

He seems like he is ready to attack as he growls at them.

"Your skills won't get you out of here alive, Lain. Just hand over the girl, and I'll make sure to give you a quick and painless death."

For the first time in my life, I feel terrified.

These people want to kill me, and I don't know why.

"Don't come anywhere near her," he warns.

The man who was mocking him bursts out laughing as he orders the other goons to come get me.

And that's when I see it.

Lain is running towards them and jumps in the air, turning into a brown wolf as his clothes get torn. He lands on all fours, ripping any man who dares to come towards me.

My eyes widen in horror.

He turned into a fucking werewolf in front of me.

My body freezes with fear.

The fear from this situation.

This is real. I'm not just dreaming or hallucinating. This is happening in real life. And there is nothing I can do about it.

He is a monster.

I can't move. My mind races as my heart threatens to rip itself out of my chest.

What the hell do I do now?

There is only one thing I can do.

Run.

I run.

I can hear him howl behind me and I know that if I don't leave, then he will follow me. I take off like a shot, running for all my life. My body hurts as my muscles cry for rest, but I keep going.

He tackles me to the ground, snarling at me, and I notice that it's just the two of us.

He killed them all, and now he is going to kill me.

No... No!!

As he pounces on me, I feel something break inside me. That's when the tears start to fall.
