Chapter 7

(Cassie's POV)

The constant beeping of the alarm woke me up. I groaned and turned, only to land on the floor. Now I was fully awake.

I sat up and looked out the window. Our garden looked different. The birds were chirping. The roses, daffodils, sunflowers, all had butterflies frolicking around them. It could only mean one thing. Spring had come early.

I grinned and stood up from the floor. I had to turn in my college admission essay soon and I wasn't sure if I wanted to leave home.

I bit my lower lip and arranged my fabric rolls in the corner of the room. My phone pinged and I moved over to pick it up. Before I could process the text message, the door creaked open and two figures came barreling in.

“Happy birthday!” they screamed.

My eyes lit up.

“Auntie!” I cried excitedly and run to hug her.

She squeezed me.

“Happy birthday my darling” she whispered, kissing my cheek.

“Now make a wish, this thing is heavy” I heard Natán say.

“Four years and you're still a jerk” I teased.
