Alera’s Rise, My Death

Elyra's POV

For a moment, I just stared at her, speechless, frozen, trying to process what she claimed to be. Even among witches, what she had done… shapeshifting into a rat, then a woman, then back again…

It shouldn’t be possible.

Not to that extent.

“Oh? You’re wondering how I did it?” she asked, amusement curling around her words. “You’re surprised I can turn into a rat and then back to human, yes?”

She spoke like she could hear the thoughts screaming inside my skull.

“I spent most of my life with my mother,” she continued, shrugging with a casualness that made my skin crawl. “So, unlike the rest of the scattered remnants, we are the last true descendants of an extinct witch lineage, those who hold the full breadth of witchcraft knowledge.”

She snapped her fingers.

Instantly, a burst of blinding white light exploded in her palm, bright enough to chase the shadows out of every corner of the room. The walls glowed. The ceiling glowed. My

  • Marked, But Unwanted    The Alpha’s Confession

CHAPTER 49************The Alpha’s ConfessionRex’s POVThat same evening, I watched her train.Lycan circled her slowly, correcting her stance with quiet precision as she moved with the blades in her hands. Steel flashed beneath the fading light, catching the glow of the rising moon. Her strikes were still rough around the edges—awkward at times, lacking refinement—but the determination in her eyes erased every flaw. She didn’t back down.Didn’t hesitate.Every swing carried intent, every movement driven by the need to improve, to endure. She wasn’t just learning how to fight. She was learning how to survive. And for the first time since I had chosen her, pride swelled in my chest—real, undeniable pride. Not just because she was my Luna, but because she was earning the title with every breath she took on that ground.Worthy of the pack.Worthy of the role.Worthy of the Moon Goddess’ approval.Earlier that day, I had thought about a journal.I didn't know what to give her at first.

  • Marked, But Unwanted    The Tyrant Lives On

CHAPTER 41**********The Tyrant Lives On Alera's POV Smoke smothered the narrow alley as I moved forward. My legs carried me without a sound—no footsteps, no scrape against the ground—yet they kept moving, as though they no longer belonged to me.“Rex?” I called. My voice trembled, thin and fragile in the darkness. All I wanted was to get out of this cursed place, but with every step I took, the alley stretched longer, tighter, as if it were closing in on itself.“Can anyone hear me?”The walls answered instead. My words echoed back, warped and empty, mocking my fear.My heart began to pound violently. The silence wasn’t peaceful—it was oppressive. Heavy. Watching. At first, the smoke felt harmless, almost distant. Then it thickened. It crawled into my lungs, burning as I inhaled. I turned sharply, intending to run back the way I came—Only to realize the alley was gone. The smoke had swallowed everything.“S… somebody help me,” I begged. But no one heard me. I couldn’t even hear m

Chapter 47**********Fangs and JusticeAlera's POV Gasps swept through the room. For a split second, the entire hall went unnaturally quiet, like everyone had forgotten how to breathe. The representative froze, his eyes blown wide with shock. He looked like he couldn’t quite process what he’d just heard.“Die a painful death?” My voice cut cleanly through the silence. Every head turned toward me.A small, dangerous smile tugged at my lips. His expression faltered, confusion creeping in where shock had been. I could practically see the thoughts scrambling in his head. He’d expected rage. Maybe screaming. Not this calm. And that told me everything. His defensiveness wasn’t outrage—it was fear.“We’ve all seen how the Hawthorne representative has behaved,” I said evenly. “And honestly, that says enough on its own. Like I stated earlier, the territory will be returned to its rightful owner. This judgment isn’t based only on your actions, but on the documents that were submitted as well.

Chapter 46********“The Luna’s First Trial”Alera's POV It was almost 4 p.m. when Night and I made our way toward the courthouse, which thankfully wasn’t far from my office. The walk was short, but my mind was nowhere near the ground I stepped on.Instead… it drifted to Rex.I hadn’t seen him all day. Not once. Not even in the morning when I woke up. And the more I thought about it, the more that uneasy feeling twisted inside my chest.Did he travel? The question slipped out of my thoughts before I could catch it.“Who traveled?” Night’s voice cut suddenly into my spiraling mind.My heart nearly leaped out of my chest. I turned to see her looking at me with raised brows.“What?” I asked, trying to play it off.“You just asked if someone traveled,” she said. “We weren’t even talking, so I was confused.”Only then did it hit me—I had spoken out loud without realizing.“Oh.” I cleared my throat softly. “It was just a thought that slipped.”“Are you talking about the Alpha?” she pressed

  • Marked, But Unwanted    Learning to Lead

CHAPTER 45************Learning to LeadAlera’s POV A long, heavy sigh slipped from my lips—one of those sighs that felt like the weight of an entire world had been poured onto my shoulders. I stood at the entrance of the courtroom, the hem of my black gown brushing softly against the polished floor, my nerves prickling beneath my skin like tiny sparks of electricity. It had only been three days.Three days since the Luna ceremony.Three days since the people accepted me.Since the Moon Goddess marked me as theirs.Three days… and somehow it already felt like three years.Maybe Rex had been right when he suggested I take the entire week off. Maybe I should have rested and allowed myself time to breathe, to adjust. But how was I supposed to do that? I was Luna now. Their Luna. I didn’t have the luxury of stepping aside or collapsing under the pressure—no matter how tempting it was.The past few days had been a constant battle between disbelief and duty. A part of me still struggled t
